Genesis 8:1 | And God remembered Noe, and all the living creatures, and all the cattle which were with him in the ark, and brought a wind upon the earth, and the waters were abated. | And God kept Noah in mind, and all the living things and the cattle which were with him in the ark: and God sent a wind over the earth, and the waters went down. | God remembered Noah, all the animals, and all the cattle that were with him in the ark; and God made a wind to pass over the earth. The waters subsided. |
Genesis 8:2 | The fountains also of the deep, and the flood gates of heaven were shut up, and the rain from heaven was restrained. | And the fountains of the deep and the windows of heaven were shut, and the rain from heaven was stopped. | The deep's fountains and the sky's windows were also stopped, and the rain from the sky was restrained. |
Genesis 8:3 | And the waters returned from off the earth going and coming: and they began to be abated after a hundred and fifty days. | And the waters went slowly back from the earth, and at the end of a hundred and fifty days the waters were lower. | The waters receded from off the earth continually. After the end of one hundred fifty days the waters decreased. |
Genesis 8:4 | And the ark rested in the seventh month, the seven and twentieth day of the month, upon the mountains of Armenia. | And on the seventeenth day of the seventh month the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat. | The ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on Ararat's mountains. |
Genesis 8:5 | And the waters were going and decreasing until the tenth month: for in the tenth month, the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains appeared. | And still the waters went on falling, till on the first day of the tenth month the tops of the mountains were seen. | The waters receded continually until the tenth month. In the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains were seen. |
Genesis 8:6 | And after that forty days were passed, Noe, opening the window of the ark which he had made, sent forth a raven: | Then, after forty days, through the open window of the ark which he had made, | It happened at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made, |
Genesis 8:7 | Which went forth and did not return, till the waters were dried up upon the earth. | Noah sent out a raven, which went this way and that till the waters were gone from the earth. | and he sent forth a raven. It went back and forth, until the waters were dried up from off the earth. |
Genesis 8:8 | He sent forth also a dove after him, to see if the waters had now ceased upon the face of the earth. | And he sent out a dove, to see if the waters had gone from the face of the earth; | He sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters were abated from off the surface of the ground, |
Genesis 8:9 | But she, not finding where her foot might rest, returned to him into the ark: for the waters were upon the whole earth: and he put forth his hand, and caught her, and brought her into the ark. | But the dove saw no resting-place for her foot, and came back to the ark, for the waters were still over all the earth; and he put out his hand, and took her into the ark. | but the dove found no place to rest her foot, and she returned to him into the ark; for the waters were on the surface of the whole earth. He put forth his hand, and took her, and brought her to him into the ark. |
Genesis 8:10 | And having waited yet seven other days, he again sent forth the dove out of the ark. | And after waiting another seven days, he sent the dove out again; | He stayed yet another seven days; and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark. |
Genesis 8:11 | And she came to him in the evening, carrying a bough of an olive tree, with green leaves, in her mouth. Noe therefore understood that the waters were ceased upon the earth. | And the dove came back at evening, and in her mouth was an olive-leaf broken off: so Noah was certain that the waters had gone down on the earth. | The dove came back to him at evening, and, behold, in her mouth was an olive leaf plucked off. So Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth. |
Genesis 8:12 | And he stayed yet other seven days: and he sent forth the dove, which returned not any more unto him. | And after seven days more, he sent the dove out again, but she did not come back to him. | He stayed yet another seven days, and sent forth the dove; and she didn't return to him any more. |
Genesis 8:13 | Therefore in the six hundreth and first year, the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were lessened upon the earth, and Noe opening the covering of the ark, looked, and saw that the face of the earth was dried. | And in the six hundred and first year, on the first day of the first month, the waters were dry on the earth: and Noah took the cover off the ark and saw that the face of the earth was dry. | It happened in the six hundred first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth. Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked. He saw that the surface of the ground was dried. |
Genesis 8:14 | In the second month, the seven and twentieth day of the month, the earth was dried. | And on the twenty-seventh day of the second month the earth was dry. | In the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dry. |
Genesis 8:15 | And God spoke to Noe, saying: | And God said to Noah, | God spoke to Noah, saying, |
Genesis 8:16 | Go out of the ark, thou and thy wife, thy sons, and the wives of thy sons with thee. | Go out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and your sons' wives. | "Go forth from the ark, you, and your wife, and your sons, and your sons' wives with you. |
Genesis 8:17 | All livings things that are with thee of all flesh, as well in fowls as in beasts, and all creeping things that creep upon the earth, bring out with thee, and go ye upon the earth: increased and multiply upon it. | Take out with you every living thing which is with you, birds and cattle and everything which goes on the earth, so that they may have offspring and be fertile and be increased on the earth. | Bring forth with you every living thing that is with you of all flesh, including birds, cattle, and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth; that they may breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply on the earth." |
Genesis 8:18 | So Noe went out, he and his sons: his wife, and the wives of his sons with him. | And Noah went out with his sons and his wife and his sons' wives; | Noah went forth, with his sons, his wife, and his sons' wives with him. |
Genesis 8:19 | And all living things, and cattle, and creeping things that creep upon the earth, according to their kinds, went out of the ark. | And every beast and bird and every living thing of every sort which goes on the earth, went out of the ark. | Every animal, every creeping thing, and every bird, whatever moves on the earth, after their families, went forth out of the ark. |
Genesis 8:20 | And Noe built an altar unto the Lord: and taking of all cattle and fowls that were clean, offered holocausts upon the altar. | And Noah made an altar to the Lord, and from every clean beast and bird he made burned offerings on the altar. | Noah built an altar to Yahweh, and took of every clean animal, and of every clean bird, and offered burnt offerings on the altar. |
Genesis 8:21 | And the Lord smelled a sweet savour, and said: I will no more curse the earth for the sake of man: for the imagination and thought of man's heart are prone to evil from his youth: therefore I will no more destroy every living soul as I have done. | And when the sweet smell came up to the Lord, he said in his heart, I will not again put a curse on the earth because of man, for the thoughts of man's heart are evil from his earliest days; never again will I send destruction on all living things as I have done. | Yahweh smelled the sweet savor. Yahweh said in his heart, "I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake, because the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I ever again strike everything living, as I have done. |
Genesis 8:22 | All the days of the earth, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, night and day, shall not cease. | While the earth goes on, seed time and the getting in of the grain, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, will not come to an end. | While the earth remains, seed time and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease." |
