Matthew 5:10 | Blessed are they that suffer persecution for justice' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. | Happy are those who are attacked on account of righteousness: for the kingdom of heaven will be theirs. | "Blessed are those who have been persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. |
Matthew 5:11 | Blessed are ye when they shall revile you, and persecute you, and speak all that is evil against you, untruly, for my sake: | Happy are you when men give you a bad name, and are cruel to you, and say all evil things against you falsely, because of me. | "Blessed are you when people reproach you, persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake. |
Matthew 5:12 | Be glad and rejoice, for your reward is very great in heaven. For so they persecuted the prophets that were before you. | Be glad and full of joy; for great is your reward in heaven: for so were the prophets attacked who were before you. | "Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven. For that is how they persecuted the prophets who were before you. |
Matthew 5:13 | You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt lose its savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is good for nothing any more but to be cast out, and to be trodden on by men. | You are the salt of the earth; but if its taste goes from the salt, how will you make it salt again? it is then good for nothing but to be put out and crushed under foot by men. | You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its flavor, what will it be salted with? It is then good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under the feet of men. |
Matthew 5:14 | You are the light of the world. A city seated on a mountain cannot be hid. | You are the light of the world. A town put on a hill may be seen by all. | You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill can't be hid. |
Matthew 5:15 | Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but upon a candlestick, that it may shine to all that are in the house. | And a burning light is not put under a vessel, but on its table; so that its rays may be shining on all who are in the house. | Neither do you light a lamp, and put it under a bushel basket, but on a stand; and it shines to all who are in the house. |
Matthew 5:16 | So let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. | Even so let your light be shining before men, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven. | Even so, let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. |
Matthew 5:17 | Do not think that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets. I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. | Let there be no thought that I have come to put an end to the law or the prophets. I have not come for destruction, but to make complete. | Don't think that I came to destroy the law or the prophets. I didn't come to destroy, but to fulfill. |
Matthew 5:18 | For amen I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot, or one tittle shall not pass of the law, till all be fulfilled. | Truly I say to you, Till heaven and earth come to an end, not the smallest letter or part of a letter will in any way be taken from the law, till all things are done. | For most assuredly, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not even one smallest letter or one tiny pen stroke shall in any way pass away from the law, until all things are accomplished. |
Matthew 5:19 | He therefore that shall break one of these least commandments, and shall so teach men, shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven. But he that shall do and teach, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. | Whoever then goes against the smallest of these laws, teaching men to do the same, will be named least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who keeps the laws, teaching others to keep them, will be named great in the kingdom of heaven. | Whoever, therefore, shall break one of these least commandments, and teach others to do so, shall be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven; but whoever shall do and teach them shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven. |
Matthew 5:20 | For I tell you, that unless your justice abound more than that of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. | For I say to you, If your righteousness is not greater than the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never go into the kingdom of heaven. | For I tell you, that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, there is no way you shall enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. |
Matthew 5:21 | You have heard that it was said to them of old: Thou shalt not kill. And whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment. | You have knowledge that it was said in old times, You may not put to death; and, Whoever puts to death will be in danger of being judged: | "You have heard that it was said to them of old time, 'You shall not murder;' and 'Whoever shall murder shall be in danger of the judgment.' |

And whosoever shall say, Thou Fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. | But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be in danger of being judged; and he who says to his brother, Raca, will be in danger from the Sanhedrin; and whoever says, You foolish one, will be in danger of the hell of fire. | But I tell you, that everyone who is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment; and whoever shall say to his brother, 'Raca,' shall be in danger of the council; and whoever shall say, 'You fool,' shall be in danger of the fire of Gehenna. |
Matthew 5:23 | If therefore thou offer thy gift at the altar, and there thou remember that thy brother hath any thing against thee; | If then you are making an offering at the altar and there it comes to your mind that your brother has something against you, | If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you, |

First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. |

Matthew 5:29 | And if thy right eye scandalize thee, pluck it out and cast it from thee. For it is expedient for thee that one of thy members should perish, rather than that thy whole body be cast into hell. | And if your right eye is a cause of trouble to you, take it out and put it away from you; because it is better to undergo the loss of one part, than for all your body to go into hell. | If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and cast it from you. For it is profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna. |
Matthew 5:30 | And if thy right hand scandalize thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is expedient for thee that one of thy members should perish, rather than that thy whole body be cast into hell. | And if your right hand is a cause of trouble to you, let it be cut off and put it away from you; because it is better to undergo the loss of one part, than for all your body to go into hell. | If your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off, and cast it from you: for it is profitable for you that one of your members should perish, and not your whole body be cast into Gehenna. |

Matthew 5:32 | But I say to you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, excepting for the cause of fornication, maketh her to commit adultery: and he that shall marry her that is put away, committeth adultery. | But I say to you that everyone who puts away his wife for any other cause but the loss of her virtue, makes her false to her husband; and whoever takes her as his wife after she is put away, is no true husband to her. | but I tell you that whoever who puts away his wife, except for the cause of sexual immorality, makes her an adulteress; and whoever shall marry her when she is put away commits adultery. |
Matthew 5:33 | Again you have heard that it was said to them of old, Thou shalt not forswear thyself: but thou shalt perform thy oaths to the Lord. | Again, you have knowledge that it was said in old times, Do not take false oaths, but give effect to your oaths to the Lord: | "Again you have heard that it was said to them of old time, 'You shall not make false vows, but shall perform to the Lord your vows,' |

Matthew 5:39 | But I say to you not to resist evil: but if one strike thee on thy right cheek, turn to him also the other: | But I say to you, Do not make use of force against an evil man; but to him who gives you a blow on the right side of your face let the left be turned. | But I tell you, don't resist him who is evil; but whoever strikes you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also. |

Matthew 5:43 | You have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thy enemy. | You have knowledge that it was said, Have love for your neighbour, and hate for him who is against you: | "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor, and hate your enemy.' |
Matthew 5:44 | But I say to you, Love your enemies: do good to them that hate you: and pray for them that persecute and calumniate you: | But I say to you, Have love for those who are against you, and make prayer for those who are cruel to you; | But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, |
Matthew 5:45 | That you may be the children of your Father who is in heaven, who maketh his sun to rise upon the good, and bad, and raineth upon the just and the unjust. | So that you may be the sons of your Father in heaven; for his sun gives light to the evil and to the good, and he sends rain on the upright man and on the sinner. | that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust. |
Matthew 5:46 | For if you love them that love you, what reward shall you have? do not even the publicans this? | For if you have love for those who have love for you, what credit is it to you? do not the tax-farmers the same? | For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Don't even the tax collectors do the same? |
Matthew 5:47 | And if you salute your brethren only, what do you more? do not also the heathens this? | And if you say, Good day, to your brothers only, what do you do more than others? do not even the Gentiles the same? | If you only greet your friends, what more do you do than others? Don't even the tax collectors do the same? |
Matthew 5:48 | Be you therefore perfect, as also your heavenly Father is perfect. | Be then complete in righteousness, even as your Father in heaven is complete. | Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect. |
