Numbers 9:1 | The Lord spoke to Moses in the desert of Sinai, the second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt, in the first month, saying: | And the Lord said to Moses, in the waste land of Sinai, in the first month of the second year after they had come out of the land of Egypt, | Yahweh spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the first month of the second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt, saying, |
Numbers 9:2 | Let the children of Israel make the phase in its due time, | Let the children of Israel keep the Passover at its regular time. | Moreover let the children of Israel keep the Passover in its appointed season. |
Numbers 9:3 | The fourteenth day of this month in the evening, according to all the ceremonies and justifications thereof. | In the fourteenth day of this month, at evening, you are to keep it at the regular time, and in the way ordered in the law. | In the fourteenth day of this month, at even, you shall keep it in its appointed season: according to all the statutes of it, and according to all the ordinances of it, shall you keep it. |
Numbers 9:4 | And Moses commanded the children of Israel that they should make the phase. | And Moses gave orders to the children of Israel to keep the Passover. | Moses spoke to the children of Israel, that they should keep the Passover. |
Numbers 9:5 | And they made it in its proper time: the fourteenth day of the month at evening, in mount Sinai. The children of Israel did according to all things that the Lord had commanded Moses. | So they kept the Passover in the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month, at evening, in the waste land of Sinai: as the Lord gave orders to Moses, so the children of Israel did. | They kept the Passover in the first [month], on the fourteenth day of the month, at even, in the wilderness of Sinai: according to all that Yahweh commanded Moses, so did the children of Israel. |
Numbers 9:6 | But behold some who were unclean by occasion of the soul of a men, who could not make the phase on that day, coming to Moses and Aaron, | And there were certain men who were unclean because of a dead body, so that they were not able to keep the Passover on that day; and they came before Moses and before Aaron on that day: | There were certain men, who were unclean by reason of the dead body of a man, so that they could not keep the Passover on that day: and they came before Moses and before Aaron on that day: |
Numbers 9:7 | Said to them: We are unclean by occasion of the soul of a man. Why are we kept back that we may not offer in its season the offering to the Lord among the children of Israel? | And these men said to him, We have been made unclean by the dead body of a man; why may we not make the offering of the Lord at the regular time among the children of Israel? | and those men said to him, We are unclean by reason of the dead body of a man: why are we kept back, that we may not offer the offering of Yahweh in its appointed season among the children of Israel? |
Numbers 9:8 | And Moses answered them: Stay that I may consult the Lord what he will ordain concerning you. | And Moses said to them, Do nothing till the Lord gives me directions about you. | Moses said to them, Stay you, that I may hear what Yahweh will command concerning you. |
Numbers 9:9 | And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: | And the Lord said to Moses, | Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, |
Numbers 9:10 | Say to the children of Israel: The man that shall be unclean by occasion of one that is dead, or shall be in a journey afar off in your nation, let him make the phase to the Lord. | Say to the children of Israel, If any one of you or of your families is unclean because of a dead body, or is on a journey far away, still he is to keep the Passover to the Lord: | Speak to the children of Israel, saying, If any man of you or of your generations shall be unclean by reason of a dead body, or be on a journey afar off, yet he shall keep the Passover to Yahweh. |
Numbers 9:11 | In the second month, on the fourteenth day of the month in the evening, they shall eat it with unleavened bread and wild lettuce: | In the second month, on the fourteenth day, in the evening, they are to keep it, taking it with unleavened bread and bitter-tasting plants; | In the second month on the fourteenth day at even they shall keep it; they shall eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs: |
Numbers 9:12 | They shall not leave any thing thereof until morning, a nor break a bone thereof, they shall observe all the ceremonies of the phase. | Nothing of it is to be kept till the morning, and no bone of it is to be broken: they are to keep it by the rules of the Passover. | they shall leave none of it to the morning, nor break a bone of it: according to all the statute of the Passover they shall keep it. |
Numbers 9:13 | But if any man is clean, and was not on a journey, and did not make the phase, that soul shall be cut off from among his people, because he offered not sacrifice to the Lord in due season: he shall bear his sin. | But the man who, not being unclean or on a journey, does not keep the Passover, will be cut off from his people: because he did not make the offering of the Lord at the regular time, his sin will be on him. | But the man who is clean, and is not on a journey, and forbears to keep the Passover, that soul shall be cut off from his people; because he didn't offer the offering of Yahweh in its appointed season, that man shall bear his sin. |
Numbers 9:14 | The sojourner also and the stranger if they be among you, shall make the phase to the Lord according to the ceremonies and justifications thereof. The same ordinance shall be with you both for the stranger, and for him that was born in the land. | And if a man from another country is among you and has a desire to keep the Passover to the Lord, let him do as is ordered in the law of the Passover: there is to be the same rule for the man from another nation and for him who had his birth in the land. | If a stranger shall sojourn among you, and will keep the Passover to Yahweh; according to the statute of the Passover, and according to the ordinance of it, so shall he do: you shall have one statute, both for the sojourner, and for him who is born in the land. |
Numbers 9:15 | Now on the day that the tabernacle was reared up, a cloud covered it. But from the evening there was over the tabernacle, as it were, the appearance of fire until the morning. | And on the day when the House was put up, the cloud came down on it, on the Tent of witness; and in the evening there was a light like fire over the House till the morning. | On the day that the tent was reared up the cloud covered the tent, even the tent of the testimony: and at even it was on the tent as it were the appearance of fire, until morning. |
Numbers 9:16 | So it was always: by day the cloud covered it, and by night as it were the appearance of fire. | And so it was at all times: it was covered by the cloud, and by a light as of fire by night. | So it was always: the cloud covered it, and the appearance of fire by night. |
Numbers 9:17 | And when the cloud that covered the tabernacle was taken up, then the children of Israel marched forward: and in the place where the cloud stood still, there they camped. | And whenever the cloud was taken up from over the House, then the children of Israel went journeying on; and in the place where the cloud came to rest, there the children of Israel put up their tents. | Whenever the cloud was taken up from over the Tent, then after that the children of Israel journeyed: and in the place where the cloud abode, there the children of Israel encamped. |
Numbers 9:18 | At the commandment of the Lord they marched, and at his commandment they pitched the tabernacle. All the days that the cloud abode over the tabernacle, they remained in the same place: | At the order of the Lord the children of Israel went forward, and at the order of the Lord they put up their tents: as long as the cloud was resting on the House, they did not go away from that place. | At the commandment of Yahweh the children of Israel journeyed, and at the commandment of Yahweh they encamped: as long as the cloud abode on the tent they remained encamped. |
Numbers 9:19 | And if it was so that it continued over it a long time, the children of Israel kept the watches of the Lord, and marched not, | When the cloud was resting on the House for a long time the children of Israel, waiting for the order of the Lord, did not go on. | When the cloud stayed on the tent many days, then the children of Israel kept the charge of Yahweh, and didn't travel. |
Numbers 9:20 | For as many days soever as the cloud stayed over the tabernacle. At the commandment of the Lord they pitched their tents, and at his commandment they took them down. | Sometimes the cloud was resting on the House for two or three days; then, by the order of the Lord, they kept their tents in that place, and when the Lord gave the order they went on. | Sometimes the cloud was a few days on the tent; then according to the commandment of Yahweh they remained encamped, and according to the commandment of Yahweh they journeyed. |
Numbers 9:21 | If the cloud tarried from evening until morning, and immediately at break of day left the tabernacle, they marched forward: and if it departed after a day and a night, they took down their tents. | And sometimes the cloud was there only from evening to morning; and when the cloud was taken up in the morning they went on their journey again: or if it was resting there by day and by night, whenever the cloud was taken up they went forward. | Sometimes the cloud was from evening until morning; and when the cloud was taken up in the morning, they journeyed: or [if it continued] by day and by night, when the cloud was taken up, they journeyed. |
Numbers 9:22 | But if it remained over the tabernacle for two days or a month or a longer time, the children of Israel remained in the same place, and marched not: but immediately as soon as it departed, they removed the camp. | Or if the cloud came to rest on the House for two days or a month or a year without moving, the children of Israel went on waiting there and did not go on; but whenever it was taken up they went forward on their journey. | Whether it were two days, or a month, or a year, that the cloud stayed on the tent, abiding thereon, the children of Israel remained encamped, and didn't travel; but when it was taken up, they traveled. |
Numbers 9:23 | By the word of the Lord they pitched their tents, and by his word they marched: and kept the watches of the Lord according to his commandment by the hand of Moses. | At the word of the Lord they put up their tents, and at the word of the Lord they went forward on their journey: they kept the orders of the Lord as he gave them by Moses. | At the commandment of Yahweh they encamped, and at the commandment of Yahweh they journeyed: they kept the charge of Yahweh, at the commandment of Yahweh by Moses. |
