Philemon 1:1Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy, a brother: to Philemon, our beloved and fellow labourer;Paul, a prisoner of Jesus Christ, and Timothy our brother, to Philemon, our dear helper in the faith,Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy our brother, to Philemon, our beloved fellow worker,
Philemon 1:2And to Appia, our dearest sister, and to Archippus, our fellow soldier, and to the church which is in thy house:And to Apphia, our sister, and to Archippus, our brother in God's army, and to the church in your house:to the beloved Apphia, to Archippus, our fellow soldier, and to the assembly in your house:
Philemon 1:3Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Philemon 1:4I give thanks to my God, always making a remembrance of thee in my prayers.I give praise to God at all times and make prayer for you,I thank my God always, making mention of you in my prayers,
Philemon 1:5Hearing of thy charity and faith, which thou hast in the Lord Jesus, and towards all the saints:Hearing of the love and the faith which you have to the Lord Jesus and to all the saints;hearing of your love, and of the faith which you have toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all the saints;
Philemon 1:6That the communication of thy faith may be made evident in the acknowledgment of every good work, that is in you in Christ Jesus.That the faith which you have in common with them may be working with power, in the knowledge of every good thing in you, for Christ.that the fellowship of your faith may become effective, in the knowledge of every good thing which is in us, in Christ Jesus.
Philemon 1:7For I have had great joy and consolation in thy charity, because the bowels of the saints have been refreshed by thee, brother.For I had great joy and comfort in your love, because the hearts of the saints have been made strong again through you, brother.For we have much joy and comfort in your love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you, brother.
Philemon 1:8Wherefore though I have much confidence in Christ Jesus, to command thee that which is to the purpose:And so, though I might, in the name of Christ, give you orders to do what is right,Therefore, though I have all boldness in Christ to command you that which is appropriate,
Philemon 1:9For charity sake I rather beseech, whereas thou art such a one, as Paul an old man, and now a prisoner also of Jesus Christ.Still, because of love, in place of an order, I make a request to you, I, Paul, an old man and now a prisoner of Christ Jesus:yet for love's sake I rather beg, being such a one as Paul, the aged, and now a prisoner also of Christ Jesus.
Philemon 1:10I beseech thee for my son, whom I have begotten in my bands, Onesimus,My request is for my child Onesimus, the child of my chains,I beg you for my child, whom I have fathered in my bonds, Onesimus,
Philemon 1:11Who hath been heretofore unprofitable to thee, but now is profitable both to me and thee,Who in the past was of no profit to you, but now is of profit to you and to me:who once was useless to you, but now is useful to you and to me;
Philemon 1:12Whom I have sent back to thee. And do thou receive him as my own bowels.Whom I have sent back to you, him who is my very heart:I am sending him back. You therefore receive him, that is, my own heart,
Philemon 1:13Whom I would have retained with me, that in thy stead he might have ministered to me in the bands of the gospel:Though my desire was to keep him with me, to be my servant in the chains of the good news, in your place:whom I wanted to keep with me, that in your behalf he might minister to me in the bonds of the gospel.
Philemon 1:14But without thy counsel I would do nothing: that thy good deed might not be as it were of necessity, but voluntary.But without your approval I would do nothing; so that your good works might not be forced, but done freely from your heart.But I was willing to do nothing without your consent, that your goodness would not be as of necessity, but of free will.
Philemon 1:15For perhaps he therefore departed for a season from thee, that thou mightest receive him again for ever:For it is possible that for this reason he was parted from you for a time, so that you might have him for ever;For perhaps he was therefore separated from you for a while, that you would have him forever,
Philemon 1:16Not now as a servant, but instead of a servant, a most dear brother, especially to me: but how much more to thee both in the flesh and in the Lord?No longer as a servant, but more than a servant, a brother, very dear to me specially, but much more to you, in the flesh as well as in the Lord.no longer as a slave, but more than a slave, a beloved brother, specially to me, but how much rather to you, both in the flesh and in the Lord.
Philemon 1:17If therefore thou count me a partner, receive him as myself.If then you take me to be your friend and brother, take him in as myself.If then you count me a partner, receive him as you would receive me.
Philemon 1:18And if he hath wronged thee in any thing, or is in thy debt, put that to my account.If he has done you any wrong or is in debt to you for anything, put it to my account.But if he has wronged you at all, or owes you anything, put that to my account.
Philemon 1:19I Paul have written it with my own hand: I will repay it: not to say to thee, that thou owest me thy own self also.I, Paul, writing this myself, say, I will make payment to you: and I do not say to you that you are in debt to me even for your life.I, Paul, write this with my own hand: I will repay it (not to mention to you that you owe to me even your own self besides).
Philemon 1:20Yea, brother. May I enjoy thee in the Lord. Refresh my bowels in the Lord.So brother, let me have joy of you in the Lord: give new life to my heart in Christ.Yes, brother, let me have joy from you in the Lord. Refresh my heart in the Lord.
Philemon 1:21Trusting in thy obedience, I have written to thee: knowing that thou wilt also do more than I say.Being certain that you will do my desire, I am writing to you, in the knowledge that you will do even more than I say.Having confidence in your obedience, I write to you, knowing that you will do even beyond what I say.
Philemon 1:22But withal prepare me also a lodging. For I hope that through your prayers I shall be given unto you.And make a room ready for me; for I am hoping that through your prayers I will be given to you.Also, prepare a guest room for me, for I hope that through your prayers I will be restored to you.
Philemon 1:23There salute thee Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus;Epaphras, my brother-prisoner in Christ Jesus, sends you his love;Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus, greets you,
Philemon 1:24Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, and Luke my fellow labourers.And so do Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, and Luke, my brother-workers.as do Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, and Luke, my fellow workers.
Philemon 1:25The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. So be it.The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.
