Romans 10:1 | Brethren, the will of my heart, indeed, and my prayer to God, is for them unto salvation. | Brothers, my heart's desire and my prayer to God for them is, that they may get salvation. | Brothers, my heart's desire and my prayer to God is for Israel, that they may be saved. |
Romans 10:2 | For I bear them witness, that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. | For I give witness of them that they have a strong desire for God, but not with knowledge. | For I testify about them that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. |
Romans 10:3 | For they, not knowing the justice of God, and seeking to establish their own, have not submitted themselves to the justice of God. | Because, not having knowledge of God's righteousness, and desiring to give effect to their righteousness, they have not put themselves under the righteousness of God. | For being ignorant of God's righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, they didn't subject themselves to the righteousness of God. |
Romans 10:4 | For the end of the law is Christ, unto justice to every one that believeth. | For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who has faith. | For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. |
Romans 10:5 | For Moses wrote, that the justice which is of the law, the man that shall do it, shall live by it. | For Moses says that the man who does the righteousness which is of the law will get life by it. | For Moses writes about the righteousness of the law, "The one who does them will live by them." |
Romans 10:6 | But the justice which is of faith, speaketh thus: Say not in thy heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? that is, to bring Christ down; | But the righteousness which is of faith says these words, Say not in your heart, Who will go up to heaven? (that is, to make Christ come down:) | But the righteousness which is of faith says this, "Don't say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?' (that is, to bring Christ down); |
Romans 10:7 | Or who shall descend into the deep? that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead. | Or, Who will go down into the deep? (that is, to make Christ come again from the dead:) | or, 'Who will descend into the abyss?' (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead.)" |
Romans 10:8 | But what saith the scripture? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart. This is the word of faith, which we preach. | But what does it say? The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart: that is, the word of faith of which we are the preachers: | But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth, and in your heart;" that is, the word of faith, which we preach: |
Romans 10:9 | For if thou confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in thy heart that God hath raised him up from the dead, thou shalt be saved. | Because, if you say with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and have faith in your heart that God has made him come back from the dead, you will have salvation: | that if you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. |
Romans 10:10 | For, with the heart, we believe unto justice; but, with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation. | For with the heart man has faith to get righteousness, and with the mouth he says that Jesus is Lord to get salvation. | For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. |
Romans 10:11 | For the scripture saith: Whosoever believeth in him, shall not be confounded. | Because it is said in the holy Writings, Whoever has faith in him will not be shamed. | For the scripture says, "Whoever believes in him will not be put to shame." |
Romans 10:12 | For there is no distinction of the Jew and the Greek: for the same is Lord over all, rich unto all that call upon him. | And the Jew is not different from the Greek: for there is the same Lord of all, who is good to all who have hope in his name: | For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, and is rich to all who call on him. |
Romans 10:13 | For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, shall be saved. | Because, Whoever will give worship to the name of the Lord will get salvation. | For, "Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved." |
Romans 10:14 | How then shall they call on him, in whom they have not believed? Or how shall they believe him, of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear, without a preacher? | But how will they give worship to him in whom they have no faith? and how will they have faith in him of whom they have not had news? and how will they have news without a preacher? | How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in him whom they have not heard? How will they hear without a preacher? |
Romans 10:15 | And how shall they preach unless they be sent, as it is written: How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, of them that bring glad tidings of good things! | And how will there be preachers if they are not sent? As it is said, How beautiful are the feet of those who give the glad news of good things. | And how will they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!" |
Romans 10:16 | But all do not obey the gospel. For Isaias saith: Lord, who hath believed our report? | But they have not all given ear to the good news. For Isaiah says, Lord, who has had faith in our word? | But they didn't all listen to the glad news. For Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed our report?" |
Romans 10:17 | Faith then cometh by hearing; and hearing by the word of Christ. | So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. | So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. |
Romans 10:18 | But I say: Have they not heard? Yes, verily, their sound hath gone forth into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the whole world. | But I say, Did not the word come to their ears? Yes, certainly: Their sound has gone out into all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world. | But I say, didn't they hear? Yes, most assuredly, "Their sound went out into all the earth, Their words to the ends of the world." |
Romans 10:19 | But I say: Hath not Israel known? First, Moses saith: I will provoke you to jealousy by that which is not a nation; by a foolish nation I will anger you. | But I say, Had Israel no knowledge? First Moses says, You will be moved to envy by that which is not a nation, and by a foolish people I will make you angry. | But I ask, didn't Israel know? First Moses says, "I will provoke you to jealousy with that which is no nation, With a nation void of understanding I will make you angry." |
Romans 10:20 | But Isaias is bold, and saith: I was found by them that did not seek me: I appeared openly to them that asked not after me. | And Isaiah says without fear, Those who were not searching for me made discovery of me; and I was seen by those whose hearts were turned away from me. | Isaiah is very bold, and says, "I was found by those who didn't seek me. I was revealed to those who didn't ask for me." |
Romans 10:21 | But to Israel he saith: All the day long have I spread my hands to a people that believeth not, and contradicteth me. | But about Israel he says; All the day my hands have been stretched out to a people whose hearts were turned away, and who put themselves against my word. | But as to Israel he says, "All day long I stretched out my hands to a disobedient and contrary people. |
