2nd-Peter 1:1Simon Peter, servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained equal faith with us in the justice of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ.Simon Peter, a servant and Apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who with us have a part in the same holy faith in the righteousness of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ:Simeon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who did obtain a like precious faith with us in the righteousness of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ:
2nd-Peter 1:2Grace to you and peace be accomplished in the knowledge of God and of Christ Jesus our Lord:May grace and peace ever be increasing in you, in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord;Grace to you, and peace be multiplied in the acknowledgement of God and of Jesus our Lord!
2nd-Peter 1:3As all things of his divine power which appertain to life and godliness, are given us, through the knowledge of him who hath called us by his own proper glory and virtue.Because by his power he has given us everything necessary for life and righteousness, through the knowledge of him who has been our guide by his glory and virtue;As all things to us His divine power (the things pertaining unto life and piety) hath given, through the acknowledgement of him who did call us through glory and worthiness,
2nd-Peter 1:4By whom he hath given us most great and precious promises: that by these you may be made partakers of the divine nature: flying the corruption of that concupiscence which is in the world.And through this he has given us the hope of great rewards highly to be valued; so that by them we might have our part in God's being, and be made free from the destruction which is in the world through the desires of the flesh.through which to us the most great and precious promises have been given, that through these ye may become partakers of a divine nature, having escaped from the corruption in the world in desires.
2nd-Peter 1:5And you, employing all care, minister in your faith, virtue; and in virtue, knowledge;So, for this very cause, take every care; joining virtue to faith, and knowledge to virtue,And this same also all diligence having brought in besides, superadd in your faith the worthiness, and in the worthiness the knowledge,
2nd-Peter 1:6And in knowledge, abstinence; and in abstinence, patience; and in patience, godliness;And self-control to knowledge, and a quiet mind to self-control, and fear of God to a quiet mind,and in the knowledge the temperance, and in the temperance the endurance, and in the endurance the piety,
2nd-Peter 1:7And in godliness, love of brotherhood; and in love of brotherhood, charity.And love of the brothers to fear of God, and to love of the brothers, love itself.and in the piety the brotherly kindness, and in the brotherly kindness the love;
2nd-Peter 1:8For if these things be with you and abound, they will make you to be neither empty nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.For if you have these things in good measure, they will make you fertile and full of fruit in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.for these things being to you and abounding, do make [you] neither inert nor unfruitful in regard to the acknowledging of our Lord Jesus Christ,
2nd-Peter 1:9For he that hath not these things with him, is blind, and groping, having forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.For the man who has not these things is blind, seeing only what is near, having no memory of how he was made clean from his old sins.for he with whom these things are not present is blind, dim-sighted, having become forgetful of the cleansing of his old sins;
2nd-Peter 1:10Wherefore, brethren, labour the more, that by good works you may make sure your calling and election. For doing these things, you shall not sin at any time.For this reason, my brothers, take all the more care to make your selection and approval certain; for if you do these things you will never have a fall:wherefore, the rather, brethren, be diligent to make stedfast your calling and choice, for these things doing, ye may never stumble,
2nd-Peter 1:11For so an entrance shall be ministered to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.For so the way will be open to you into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.for so, richly shall be superadded to you the entrance into the age-during reign of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
2nd-Peter 1:12For which cause I will begin to put you always in remembrance of these things: though indeed you know them, and are confirmed in the present truth.For this reason I will be ready at all times to keep your memory of these things awake, though you have the knowledge of them now and are well based in your present faith.Wherefore, I will not be careless always to remind you concerning these things, though, having known them, and having been established in the present truth,
2nd-Peter 1:13But I think it meet as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance.And it seems right to me, as long as I am in this tent of flesh, to keep your minds awake by working on your memory;and I think right, so long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up in reminding [you],
2nd-Peter 1:14Being assured that the laying away of this my tabernacle is at hand, according as our Lord Jesus Christ also hath signified to me.For I am conscious that in a short time I will have to put off this tent of flesh, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me.having known that soon is the laying aside of my tabernacle, even as also our Lord Jesus Christ did shew to me,
2nd-Peter 1:15And I will endeavour, that you frequently have after my decease, whereby you may keep a memory of these things.And I will take every care so that you may have a clear memory of these things after my death.and I will be diligent that also at every time ye have, after my outgoing, power to make to yourselves the remembrance of these things.
2nd-Peter 1:16For we have not by following artificial fables, made known to you the power, and presence of our Lord Jesus Christ; but we were eyewitnesses of his greatness.For when we gave you news of the power and the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, our teaching was not based on stories put together by art, but we were eye-witnesses of his glory.For, skilfully devised fables not having followed out, we did make known to you the power and presence of our Lord Jesus Christ, but eye-witnesses having become of his majesty
2nd-Peter 1:17For he received from God the Father, honour and glory: this voice coming down to him from the excellent glory: This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.For God the Father gave him honour and glory, when such a voice came to him out of the great glory, saying, This is my dearly loved Son, with whom I am well pleased.for having received from God the Father honour and glory, such a voice being borne to him by the excellent glory: `This is My Son the beloved, in whom I was well pleased;`
2nd-Peter 1:18And this voice we heard brought from heaven, when we were with him in the holy mount.And this voice came from heaven even to our ears, when we were with him on the holy mountain.and this voice we we did hear, out of heaven borne, being with him in the holy mount.
2nd-Peter 1:19And we have the more firm prophetical word: whereunto you do well to attend, as to a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:And so the words of the prophets are made more certain; and it is well for you to give attention to them as to a light shining in a dark place, till the dawn comes and the morning star is seen in your hearts;And we have more firm the prophetic word, to which we do well giving heed, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, till day may dawn, and a morning star may arise in your hearts;
2nd-Peter 1:20Understanding this first, that no prophecy of scripture is made by private interpretation.Being conscious in the first place that no man by himself may give a special sense to the words of the prophets.this first knowing, that no prophecy of the Writing doth come of private exposition,
2nd-Peter 1:21For prophecy came not by the will of man at any time: but the holy men of God spoke, inspired by the Holy Ghost.For these words did not ever come through the impulse of men: but the prophets had them from God, being moved by the Holy Spirit.for not by will of man did ever prophecy come, but by the Holy Spirit borne on holy men of God spake.
