John 7:1After these things Jesus walked in Galilee; for he would not walk in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill him.After this, Jesus went from place to place in Galilee. He did not go about in Judaea, because the Jews were looking for a chance to put him to death.And Jesus was walking after these things in Galilee, for he did not wish to walk in Judea, because the Jews were seeking to kill him,
John 7:2Now the Jews' feast of tabernacles was at hand.But the feast of the Jews, the feast of tents, was near.and the feast of the Jews was nigh that of tabernacles
John 7:3And his brethren said to him: Pass from hence, and go into Judea; that thy disciples also may see thy works which thou dost.So his brothers said to him, Go away from here into Judaea so that your disciples may see the works which you do.his brethren, therefore, said unto him, `Remove hence, and go away to Judea, that thy disciples also may behold thy works that thou dost;
John 7:4For there is no man that doth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou do these things, manifest thyself to the world.Because no man does things secretly if he has a desire that men may have knowledge of him. If you do these things, let yourself be seen by all men.for no one in secret doth anything, and himself seeketh to be in public; if thou dost these things manifest thyself to the world;`
John 7:5For neither did his brethren believe in him.For even his brothers had no belief in him.for not even were his brethren believing in him.
John 7:6Then Jesus said to them: My time is not yet come; but your time is always ready.Jesus said to them, My time is still to come, but any time is good for you.Jesus, therefore, saith to them, `My time is not yet present, but your time is always ready;
John 7:7The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth: because I give testimony of it, that the works thereof are evil.It is not possible for you to be hated by the world; but I am hated by it, because I give witness that what it does is evil.the world is not able to hate you, but me it doth hate, because I testify concerning it that its works are evil.
John 7:8Go you up to this festival day, but I go not up to this festival day: because my time is not accomplished.Go you up to the feast: I am not going up now to the feast because my time has not fully come.Ye go ye up to this feast; I do not yet go up to this feast, because my time hath not yet been fulfilled;`
John 7:9When he had said these things, he himself stayed in Galilee.Having said these things to them, he still kept in Galilee.and saying these things to them, he remained in Galilee.
John 7:10But after his brethren were gone up, then he also went up to the feast, not openly, but, as it were, in secret.But after his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he went up, not publicly, but in secret.And when his brethren went up, then also he himself went up to the feast, not manifestly, but as in secret;
John 7:11The Jews therefore sought him on the festival day, and said: Where is he?At the feast the Jews were looking for him and saying, Where is he?the Jews, therefore, were seeking him, in the feast, and said, `Where is that one?`
John 7:12And there was much murmuring among the multitude concerning him. For some said: He is a good man. And others said: No, but he seduceth the people.And there was much discussion about him among the mass of the people. Some said, He is a good man; but others said, No, he is giving people false ideas.and there was much murmuring about him among the multitudes, some indeed said `He is good;` and others said, `No, but he leadeth astray the multitude;`
John 7:13Yet no man spoke openly of him, for fear of the Jews.But no man said anything about him openly for fear of the Jews.no one, however, was speaking freely about him, through fear of the Jews.
John 7:14Now about the midst of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple, and taught.Now in the middle of the feast Jesus went up to the Temple and was teaching.And it being now the middle of the feast, Jesus went up to the temple, and he was teaching,
John 7:15And the Jews wondered, saying: How doth this man know letters, having never learned?Then the Jews were surprised and said, How has this man got knowledge of books? He has never been to school.and the Jews were wondering, saying, `How hath this one known letters not having learned?`
John 7:16Jesus answered them, and said: My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.Jesus gave them this answer: It is not my teaching, but his who sent me.Jesus answered them and said, `My teaching is not mine, but His who sent me;
John 7:17If any man do the will of him; he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.If any man is ready to do God's pleasure he will have knowledge of the teaching and of where it comes from from God or from myself.if any one may will to do His will, he shall know concerning the teaching, whether it is of God, or I do speak from myself.
John 7:18He that speaketh of himself, seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh the glory of him that sent him, he is true, and there is no injustice in him.The man whose words come from himself is looking for glory for himself, but he who is looking for the glory of him who sent him that man is true and there is no evil in him.`He who is speaking from himself his own glory doth seek, but he who is seeking the glory of him who sent him, this one is true, and unrighteousness is not in him;
John 7:19Did Moses not give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law?Did not Moses give you the law? Even so, not one of you keeps the law. Why have you a desire to put me to death?hath not Moses given you the law? and none of you doth the law; why me do ye seek to kill?`
John 7:20Why seek you to kill me? The multitude answered, and said: Thou hast a devil; who seeketh to kill thee?The people said in answer, You have an evil spirit: who has any desire to put you to death?The multitude answered and said, `Thou hast a demon, who doth seek to kill thee?`
John 7:21Jesus answered, and said to them: One work I have done; and you all wonder:This was the answer of Jesus: I have done one work and you are all surprised at it.Jesus answered and said to them, `One work I did, and ye all wonder,
John 7:22Therefore, Moses gave you circumcision (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers;) and on the sabbath day you circumcise a man.Moses gave you circumcision not that it comes from Moses, but from the fathers and even on the Sabbath you give a child circumcision.because of this, Moses hath given you the circumcision not that it is of Moses, but of the fathers and on a sabbath ye circumcise a man;
John 7:23If a man receive circumcision on the sabbath day, that the law of Moses may not be broken; are you angry at me because I have healed the whole man on the sabbath day?If a child is given circumcision on the Sabbath so that the law of Moses may not be broken, why are you angry with me because I made a man completely well on the Sabbath?if a man doth receive circumcision on a sabbath that the law of Moses may not be broken, are ye wroth with me that I made a man all whole on a sabbath?
John 7:24Judge not according to the appearance, but judge just judgment.Let not your decisions be based on what you see, but on righteousness.judge not according to appearance, but the righteous judgment judge.`
John 7:25Some therefore of Jerusalem said: Is not this he whom they seek to kill?Then some of the people of Jerusalem said, Is not this the man whose death is desired?Certain, therefore, of the Jerusalemites said, `Is not this he whom they are seeking to kill?
John 7:26And behold, he speaketh openly, and they say nothing to him. Have the rulers known for a truth, that this is the Christ?And here he is talking openly and they say nothing to him! Is it possible that the rulers have knowledge that this is truly the Christ?and, lo, he doth speak freely, and they say nothing to him; did the rulers at all know truly that this is truly the Christ?
John 7:27But we know this man, whence he is: but when the Christ cometh, no man knoweth whence he is.However, it is clear to us where this man comes from: but when the Christ comes no one will have knowledge where he comes from.but this one we have known whence he is; and the Christ, when he doth come, no one doth know whence he is.`
John 7:28Jesus therefore cried out in the temple, teaching, and saying: You both know me, and you know whence I am: and I am not come of myself; but he that sent me, is true, whom you know not.Then, when he was teaching in the Temple, Jesus said with a loud voice, You have knowledge of me and you have knowledge of where I come from; and I have not come of myself; but there is One who has sent me; he is true, but you have no knowledge of him.Jesus cried, therefore, in the temple, teaching and saying, `Ye have both known me, and ye have known whence I am; and I have not come of myself, but He who sent me is true, whom ye have not known;
John 7:29I know him, because I am from him, and he hath sent me.I have knowledge of him because I came from him and he sent me.and I have known Him, because I am from Him, and He did send me.`
John 7:30They sought therefore to apprehend him: and no man laid hands on him, because his hour was not yet come.Then they had a desire to take him: but no man put hands on him because his hour was still to come.They were seeking, therefore, to seize him, and no one laid the hand on him, because his hour had not yet come,
John 7:31But of the people many believed in him, and said: When the Christ cometh, shall he do more miracles, than these which this man doth?And numbers of the people had belief in him, and they said, When the Christ comes will he do more signs than this man has done?and many out of the multitude did believe in him, and said `The Christ when he may come will he do more signs than these that this one did?`
John 7:32The Pharisees heard the people murmuring these things concerning him: and the rulers and Pharisees sent ministers to apprehend him.This discussion of the people came to the ears of the Pharisees; and the chief priests and the Pharisees sent servants to take him.The Pharisees heard the multitude murmuring these things concerning him, and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers that they may take him;
John 7:33Jesus therefore said to them: Yet a little while I am with you: and then I go to him that sent me.Then Jesus said, I will be with you a little longer and then I go to him who sent me.Jesus, therefore, said to them, `Yet a little time I am with you, and I go away unto Him who sent me;
John 7:34You shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither you cannot come.You will be looking for me, and you will not see me: and where I am you may not come.ye will seek me, and ye shall not find; and where I am, ye are not able to come.`
John 7:35The Jews therefore said among themselves: Whither will he go, that we shall not find him? will he go unto the dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles?So the Jews said among themselves, To what place is he going where we will not see him? will he go to the Jews living among the Greeks and become the teacher of the Greeks?The Jews, therefore, said among themselves, `Whither is this one about to go that we shall not find him? to the dispersion of the Greeks is he about to go? and to teach the Greeks;
John 7:36What is this saying that he hath said: You shall seek me, and shall not find me; and where I am, you cannot come?What is this saying of his, You will be looking for me and will not see me, and where I am you may not come?what is this word that he said, Ye will seek me, and ye shall not find? and, Where I am, ye are not able to come?`
John 7:37And on the last, and great day of the festivity, Jesus stood and cried, saying: If any man thirst, let him come to me, and drink.On the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus got up and said in a loud voice, If any man is in need of drink let him come to me and I will give it to him.And in the last, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, `If any one doth thirst, let him come unto me and drink;
John 7:38He that believeth in me, as the scripture saith, Out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.He who has faith in me, out of his body, as the Writings have said, will come rivers of living water.he who is believing in me, according as the Writing said, Rivers out of his belly shall flow of living water;`
John 7:39Now this he said of the Spirit which they should receive, who believed in him: for as yet the Spirit was not given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.This he said of the Spirit which would be given to those who had faith in him: the Spirit had not been given then, because the glory of Jesus was still to come.and this he said of the Spirit, which those believing in him were about to receive; for not yet was the Holy Spirit, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
John 7:40Of that multitude therefore, when they had heard these words of his, some said: This is the prophet indeed.When these words came to their ears, some of the people said, This is certainly the prophet.Many, therefore out of the multitude, having heard the word, said, `This is truly the Prophet;`
John 7:41Others said: This is the Christ. But some said: Doth the Christ come out of Galilee?Others said, This is the Christ. But others said, Not so; will the Christ come from Galilee?others said, `This is the Christ;` and others said, `Why, out of Galilee doth the Christ come?
John 7:42Doth not the scripture say: That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and from Bethlehem the town where David was?Do not the Writings say that the Christ comes of the seed of David and from Beth-lehem, the little town where David was?Did not the Writing say, that out of the seed of David, and from Bethlehem the village where David was the Christ doth come?`
John 7:43So there arose a dissension among the people because of him.So there was a division among the people because of him.A division, therefore, arose among the multitude because of him.
John 7:44And some of them would have apprehended him: but no man laid hands on him.And some of them had a desire to take him; but no man put hands on him.And certain of them were willing to seize him, but no one laid hands on him;
John 7:45The ministers therefore came to the chief priests and the Pharisees. And they said to them: Why have you not brought him?Then the servants went back to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, Why have you not got him with you?the officers came, therefore, unto the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, `Wherefore did ye not bring him?`
John 7:46The ministers answered: Never did man speak like this man.The servants made answer, No man ever said things like this man.The officers answered, `Never so spake man as this man.`
John 7:47The Pharisees therefore answered them: Are you also seduced?Then the Pharisees said to them, Have you, like the others, been given false ideas?The Pharisees, therefore, answered them, `Have ye also been led astray?
John 7:48Hath any one of the rulers believed in him, or of the Pharisees?Have any of the rulers belief in him, or any one of the Pharisees?did any one out of the rulers believe in him? or out of the Pharisees?
John 7:49But this multitude, that knoweth not the law, are accursed.But these people who have no knowledge of the law are cursed.but this multitude, that is not knowing the law, is accursed.`
John 7:50Nicodemus said to them, (he that came to him by night, who was one of them:)Nicodemus he who had come to Jesus before, being himself one of them said to them,Nicodemus saith unto them he who came by night unto him being one of them,
John 7:51Doth our law judge any man, unless it first hear him, and know what he doth?Is a man judged by our law before it has given him a hearing and has knowledge of what he has done?`Doth our law judge the man, if it may not hear from him first, and know what he doth?`
John 7:52They answered, and said to him: Art thou also a Galilean? Search the scriptures, and see, that out of Galilee a prophet riseth not.This was their answer: And do you come from Galilee? Make search and you will see that no prophet comes out of Galilee.They answered and said to him, `Art thou also out of Galilee? search and see, that a prophet out of Galilee hath not risen;`
John 7:53And every man returned to his own house.[And every man went to his house;and each one went on to his house, but Jesus went on to the mount of the Olives.
