| Exodus 40:1 | And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: | And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying, | And the Lord said to Moses, |
| Exodus 40:2 | The first month, the first day of the month, thou shalt set up the tabernacle of the testimony, | On the day of the first month, on the first of the month, shalt thou set up the tabernacle of the tent of meeting. | On the first day of the first month you are to put up the House of the Tent of meeting. |
| Exodus 40:3 | And shalt put the ark in it, and shalt let down the veil before it: | And thou shalt put in it the ark of the testimony, and shalt cover the ark with the veil. | And inside it put the ark of the law, hanging the veil before it. |
| Exodus 40:4 | And thou shalt bring in the table, and set upon it the things that are commanded according to the rite. The candlestick shall stand with its lamps, | And thou shalt bring in the table, and set in order the things that are to be set in order upon it. And thou shalt bring in the candlestick and light its lamps. | And put the table inside, placing all the things on it in order; and put in the support for the lights, and let its lights be burning. |
| Exodus 40:5 | And the altar of gold whereon the incense is burnt, before the ark of the testimony. Thou shalt put the hanging in the entry of the tabernacle, | And thou shalt set the golden altar for the incense before the ark of the testimony; and hang up the curtain of the entrance to the tabernacle. | And put the gold altar for burning perfumes in front of the ark of the law, hanging the curtain over the doorway of the House. |
| Exodus 40:6 | And before it the altar of holocaust: | And thou shalt set the altar of burnt-offering before the entrance of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting. | And put the altar of burned offerings before the doorway of the House of the Tent of meeting. |
| Exodus 40:7 | The laver between the altar and the tabernacle, and thou shalt fill it with water. | And thou shalt set the laver between the tent of meeting and the altar, and shalt put water in it. | And let the washing-vessel, with water in it, be put between the Tent of meeting and the altar. |
| Exodus 40:8 | And thou shalt encompass the court with hangings, and the entry thereof. | And thou shalt fix the court round about, and hang up the curtain at the gate of the court. | And put up the hangings forming the open space all round it, with the curtain over its doorway. |
| Exodus 40:9 | And thou shalt take the oil of unction and anoint the tabernacle with its vessels, that they may be sanctified: | And thou shalt take the anointing oil, and anoint the tabernacle, and all that is in it, and shalt hallow it, and all its utensils; and it shall be holy. | And take the holy oil and put it on the House and everything in it, and make it and everything in it holy: |
| Exodus 40:10 | The altar of holocaust and all its vessels: | And thou shalt anoint the altar of burnt-offering, and all its utensils; and thou shalt hallow the altar, and the altar shall be most holy. | And put oil on the altar of burned offering, and make it and all its vessels holy; this altar is to be most holy. |
| Exodus 40:11 | The laver with its foot: thou shalt consecrate all with the oil of unction, that they may be most holy. | And thou shalt anoint the laver and its stand, and hallow it. | And put oil on the washing-vessel and its base, and make them holy. |
| Exodus 40:12 | And thou shalt bring Aaron and his sons to the door of the tabernacle of the testimony, and having washed them with water, | And thou shalt bring Aaron and his sons near, at the entrance of the tent of meeting, and bathe them with water. | Then let Aaron and his sons come to the door of the Tent of meeting; and after washing them with water, |
| Exodus 40:13 | Thou shalt put on them the holy vestments, that they may minister to me, and that the unction of them may prosper to an everlasting priesthood. | And thou shalt clothe Aaron with the holy garments, and anoint him, and hallow him, that he may serve me as priest. | You are to put on Aaron the holy robes; and you are to put oil on him, and make him holy, so that he may be my priest. |
| Exodus 40:14 | And Moses did all that the Lord had commanded. | And thou shalt bring his sons near, and clothe them with vests. | And take his sons with him and put coats on them; |
| Exodus 40:15 | So in the first month of the second year, the first day of the month, the tabernacle was set up. | And thou shalt anoint them, as thou didst anoint their father, that they may serve me as priests. And their anointing shall be to them an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations. | And put oil on them as you did on their father, so that they may be my priests: the putting on of oil will make them priests for ever, from generation to generation. |
| Exodus 40:16 | And Moses reared it up, and placed the boards and the sockets and the bars, and set up the pillars, | And Moses did so: as Jehovah had commanded him, so did he. | And Moses did this; as the Lord gave him orders, so he did. |
| Exodus 40:17 | And spread the roof over the tabernacle, putting over it a cover, as the Lord had commanded. | And it came to pass in the first month in the second year, on the first of the month, that the tabernacle was set up. | So on the first day of the first month in the second year the House was put up. |
| Exodus 40:18 | And he put the testimony in the ark, thrusting bars underneath, and the oracle above. | And Moses set up the tabernacle, and put in its bases, and fixed its boards, and put in its bars, and set up its pillars. | Moses put up the House; placing its bases in position and lifting up its uprights, putting in the rods and planting the pillars in their places; |
| Exodus 40:19 | And when he had brought the ark into the tabernacle, he drew the veil before it to fulfil the commandment of the Lord. | And he spread the tent over the tabernacle, and put the covering of the tent above over it; as Jehovah had commanded Moses. | Stretching the outer tent over it, and covering it, as the Lord had given him orders. |
| Exodus 40:20 | And he set the table in the tabernacle of the testimony at the north side without the veil, | And he took and put the testimony into the ark, and put the staves in the ark, and put the mercy-seat above on the ark. | And he took the law and put it inside the ark, and put the rods at its side and the cover over it; |
| Exodus 40:21 | Setting there in order the loaves of proposition, as the Lord had commanded Moses. | And he brought the ark into the tabernacle, and hung up the veil of separation, and covered the ark of the testimony; as Jehovah had commanded Moses. | And he took the ark into the House, hanging up the veil before it as the Lord had given him orders. |
| Exodus 40:22 | He set the candlestick also in the tabernacle of the testimony over against the table on the south side, | And he put the table in the tent of meeting, on the side of the tabernacle northward, outside the veil, | And he put the table in the Tent of meeting, on the north side outside the veil. |
| Exodus 40:23 | Placing the lamps in order, according to the precept of the Lord. | and arranged the bread in order upon it before Jehovah; as Jehovah had commanded Moses. | And he put the bread on it in order before the Lord, as the Lord had said. |
| Exodus 40:24 | He set also the altar of gold under the roof of the testimony over against the veil, | And he put the candlestick in the tent of meeting, opposite to the table, on the side of the tabernacle southward. | The support for the lights he put in the Tent of meeting, opposite the table, on the south side: |
| Exodus 40:25 | And burnt upon it the incense of spices, as the Lord had commanded Moses. | And he lighted the lamps before Jehovah; as Jehovah had commanded Moses. | Lighting the lights before the Lord, as the Lord had given him orders. |
| Exodus 40:26 | And he put also the hanging in the entry of the tabernacle of the testimony, | And he put the golden altar in the tent of meeting before the veil. | And he put the gold altar in the Tent of meeting, in front of the veil: |
| Exodus 40:27 | And the altar of holocaust of the entry of the testimony, offering the holocaust, and the sacrifices upon it, as the Lord had commanded. | And he burnt on it fragrant incense; as Jehovah had commanded Moses. | Burning sweet perfumes on it, as the Lord had given him orders. |
| Exodus 40:28 | And he set the laver between the tabernacle of the testimony and the altar, filling it with water. | And he hung up the curtain of the entrance to the tabernacle. | And he put up the curtain at the doorway of the House. |
| Exodus 40:29 | And Moses and Aaron, and his sons washed their hands and feet, | And he put the altar of burnt-offering at the entrance to the tabernacle of the tent of meeting, and offered on it the burnt-offering and the oblation; as Jehovah had commanded Moses. | And at the door of the House of the Tent of meeting, he put the altar of burned offerings, offering on it the burned offering and the meal offering, as the Lord had given him orders. |
| Exodus 40:30 | When they went into the tabernacle of the covenant, and went to the altar, as the Lord had commanded Moses. | And he set the laver between the tent of meeting and the altar, and put water in it for washing. | And between the altar and the Tent of meeting he put the vessel with water in it for washing. |
| Exodus 40:31 | He set up also the court round about the tabernacle and the altar, drawing the hanging in the entry thereof. After all things were perfected, | And Moses and Aaron and his sons washed their hands and their feet out of it: | In it the hands and feet of Moses and Aaron and his sons were washed, |
| Exodus 40:32 | The cloud covered the tabernacle of the testimony, and the glory of the Lord filled it. | when they went into the tent of meeting, and when they drew near to the altar, they washed; as Jehovah had commanded Moses. | Whenever they went into the Tent of meeting, and when they came near the altar, as the Lord had given orders to Moses. |
| Exodus 40:33 | Neither could Moses go into the tabernacle of the covenant, the cloud covering all things and the majesty of the Lord shining, for the cloud had covered all. | And he set up the court round about the tabernacle and the altar, and hung up the curtain of the gate of the court. And so Moses finished the work. | And he put up the hangings forming the open space round the House and the altar, and put the curtain over the doorway. So Moses made the work complete. |
| Exodus 40:34 | If at any time the cloud removed from the tabernacle, the children of Israel went forward by their troops: | And the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of Jehovah filled the tabernacle. | Then the cloud came down covering the Tent of meeting, and the House was full of the glory of the Lord; |
| Exodus 40:35 | If it hung over, they remained in the same place. | And Moses could not enter into the tent of meeting, for the cloud abode on it, and the glory of Jehovah filled the tabernacle. | So that Moses was not able to go into the Tent of meeting, because the cloud was resting on it, and the House was full of the glory of the Lord. |
| Exodus 40:36 | For the cloud of the Lord hung over the tabernacle by day, and a fire by night, in the sight of all the children of Israel throughout all their mansions. | And when the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Israel journeyed in all their journeys. | And whenever the cloud was taken up from the House, the children of Israel went forward on their journey: |
