Galatians 4:1Now I say, as long as the heir is a child, he differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;Now I say, As long as the heir is a child, he differs nothing from a bondman, though he be lord of all;But I say that as long as the son is a child, he is in no way different from a servant, though he is lord of all;
Galatians 4:2But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed by the father:but he is under guardians and stewards until the period fixed by the father.But is under keepers and managers till the time fixed by the father.
Galatians 4:3So we also, when we were children, were serving under the elements of the world.So we also, when we were children, were held in bondage under the principles of the world;So we, when we were young, were kept under the first rules of the world;
Galatians 4:4But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent his Son, made of a woman, made under the law:but when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, come of woman, come under law,But when the time had come, God sent out his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
Galatians 4:5That he might redeem them who were under the law: that we might receive the adoption of sons.that he might redeem those under law, that we might receive sonship.That he might make them free who were under the law, and that we might be given the place of sons.
Galatians 4:6And because you are sons, God hath sent the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying: Abba, Father.But because ye are sons, God has sent out the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, Abba, Father.And because you are sons, God has sent out the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, saying, Abba, Father.
Galatians 4:7Therefore now he is not a servant, but a son. And if a son, an heir also through God.So thou art no longer bondman, but son; but if son, heir also through God.So that you are no longer a servant, but a son; and if a son, then the heritage of God is yours.
Galatians 4:8But then indeed, not knowing God, you served them, who, by nature, are not gods.But then indeed, not knowing God, ye were in bondage to those who by nature are not gods;But at that time, having no knowledge of God, you were servants to those who by right are no gods:
Galatians 4:9But now, after that you have known God, or rather are known by God: how turn you again to the weak and needy elements, which you desire to serve again?but now, knowing God, but rather being known by God, how do ye turn again to the weak and beggarly principles to which ye desire to be again anew in bondage?But now that you have come to have knowledge of God, or more truly, God has knowledge of you, how is it that you go back again to the poor and feeble first things, desiring to be servants to them again?
Galatians 4:10You observe days, and months, and times, and years.Ye observe days and months and times and years.You keep days, and months, and fixed times, and years.
Galatians 4:11I am afraid of you, lest perhaps I have laboured in vain among you.I am afraid of you, lest indeed I have laboured in vain as to you.I am in fear of you, that I may have been working for you to no purpose.
Galatians 4:12Be ye as I, because I also am as you: brethren, I beseech you: you have not injured me at all.Be as *I* [am], for *I* also [am] as *ye*, brethren, I beseech you: ye have not at all wronged me.My desire for you, brothers, is that you may be as I am, because I am as you are. You have done me no wrong;
Galatians 4:13And you know, how through infirmity of the flesh, I preached the gospel to you heretofore: and your temptation in my flesh,But ye know that in weakness of the flesh I announced the glad tidings to you at the first;But you have knowledge that with a feeble body I was preaching the good news to you the first time;
Galatians 4:14You despised not, nor rejected: but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.and my temptation, which [was] in my flesh, ye did not slight nor reject with contempt; but ye received me as an angel of God, as Christ Jesus.And you did not have a poor opinion of me because of the trouble in my flesh, or put shame on it; but you took me to your hearts as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.
Galatians 4:15Where is then your blessedness? For I bear you witness, that, if it could be done, you would have plucked out your own eyes, and would have given them to me.What then [was] your blessedness? for I bear you witness that, if possible, plucking out your own eyes ye would have given [them] to me.Where then is that happy condition of yours? because I give you witness, that, if possible, you would have taken out your eyes and given them to me.
Galatians 4:16Am I then become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?So I have become your enemy in speaking the truth to you?So then am I no longer your friend, because I give you true words?
Galatians 4:17They are zealous in your regard not well: but they would exclude you, that you might be zealous for them.They are not rightly zealous after you, but desire to shut you out [from us], that ye may be zealous after them.Their interest in you is not good; but their desire is that you may be shut out, so that you may go after them.
Galatians 4:18But be zealous for that which is good in a good thing always: and not only when I am present with you.But [it is] right to be zealous at all times in what is right, and not only when I am present with youBut it is good to have an interest in a good cause at all times, and not only when I am present with you.
Galatians 4:19My little children, of whom I am in labour again, until Christ be formed in you.my children, of whom I again travail in birth until Christ shall have been formed in you:My children, of whom I am again in birth-pains till Christ is formed in you,
Galatians 4:20And I would willingly be present with you now, and change my voice: because I am ashamed for you.and I should wish to be present with you now, and change my voice, for I am perplexed as to you.Truly my desire is to be present with you now, using a changed voice; for I am troubled about you.
Galatians 4:21Tell me, you that desire to be under the law, have you not read the law?Tell me, ye who are desirous of being under law, do ye not listen to the law?Say, you whose desire it is to be under the law, do you not give ear to the law?
Galatians 4:22For it is written that Abraham had two sons: the one by a bondwoman, and the other by a free woman.For it is written that Abraham had two sons; one of the maid servant, and one of the free woman.Because it is in the Writings, that Abraham had two sons, one by the servant-woman, and one by the free woman.
Galatians 4:23But he who was of the bondwoman, was born according to the flesh: but he of the free woman, was by promise.But he [that was] of the maid servant was born according to flesh, and he [that was] of the free woman through the promise.Now the son by the servant-woman has his birth after the flesh; but the son by the free woman has his birth through the undertaking of God.
Galatians 4:24Which things are said by an allegory. For these are the two testaments. The one from mount Sina, engendering unto bondage; which is Agar:Which things have an allegorical sense; for these are two covenants: one from mount Sinai, gendering to bondage, which is Hagar.Which things have a secret sense; because these women are the two agreements; one from the mountain of Sinai, giving birth to servants, which is Hagar.
Galatians 4:25For Sina is a mountain in Arabia, which hath affinity to that Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.For Hagar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to Jerusalem which [is] now, for she is in bondage with her children;Now this Hagar is the mountain Sinai in Arabia, and is the image of the Jerusalem which now is: which is a servant with her children.
Galatians 4:26But that Jerusalem, which is above, is free: which is our mother.but the Jerusalem above is free, which is our mother.But the Jerusalem on high is free, which is our mother.
Galatians 4:27For it is written: Rejoice, thou barren, that bearest not: break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for many are the children of the desolate, more than of her that hath a husband.For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break out and cry, thou that travailest not; because the children of the desolate are more numerous than [those] of her that has a husband.For it is in the Writings, You who have never given birth, be glad; give cries of joy, you who have had no birth-pains; for the children of her who has been given up by her husband are more than those of the woman who has a husband.
Galatians 4:28Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.But *ye*, brethren, after the pattern of Isaac, are children of promise.Now we, brothers, as Isaac was, are the children of the undertaking of God.
Galatians 4:29But as then he, that was born according to the flesh, persecuted him that was after the spirit; so also it is now.But as then he that was born according to flesh persecuted him [that was born] according to Spirit, so also [it is] now.But as in those days he who had birth after the flesh was cruel to him who had birth after the Spirit, even so it is now.
Galatians 4:30But what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son; for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the free woman.But what says the scripture? Cast out the maid servant and her son; for the son of the maid servant shall not inherit with the son of the free woman.What then do the Writings say? Send away the servant-woman and her son; for the son of the servant-woman will not have a part in the heritage with the son of the free woman.
Galatians 4:31So then, brethren, we are not the children of the bondwoman, but of the free: by the freedom wherewith Christ has made us free.So then, brethren, we are not maid servant's children, but [children] of the free woman.So, brothers, we are not children of the servant-woman, but of the free woman.
