Genesis 3:1Now the serpent was more subtle than any of the beasts of the earth which the Lord God made. And he said to the woman: Why hath God commanded you, that you should not eat of every tree of paradise? And the serpent was more crafty than any animal of the field which Jehovah Elohim had made. And it said to the woman, Is it even so, that God has said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? Now the snake was wiser than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, Has God truly said that you may not take of the fruit of any tree in the garden?
Genesis 3:2And the woman answered him, saying: Of the fruit of the trees that are in paradise we do eat:And the woman said to the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden; And the woman said, We may take of the fruit of the trees in the garden:
Genesis 3:3But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of paradise, God hath commanded us that we should not eat; and that we should not touch it, lest perhaps we die.but of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, God has said, Ye shall not eat of it, and ye shall not touch it, lest ye die.But of the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden, God has said, If you take of it or put your hands on it, death will come to you.
Genesis 3:4And the serpent said to the woman: No, you shall not die the death. And the serpent said to the woman, Ye will not certainly die;And the snake said, Death will not certainly come to you:
Genesis 3:5For God doth know that in what day soever you shall eat thereof, your eyes shall be opened: and you shall be as Gods, knowing good and evil.but God knows that in the day ye eat of it, your eyes will be opened, and ye will be as God, knowing good and evil. For God sees that on the day when you take of its fruit, your eyes will be open, and you will be as gods, having knowledge of good and evil.
Genesis 3:6And the woman saw that the tree was good to eat, and fair to the eyes, and delightful to behold: and she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave to her husband who did eat.And the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a pleasure for the eyes, and the tree was to be desired to give intelligence; and she took of its fruit, and ate, and gave also to her husband with her, and he ate.And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and a delight to the eyes, and to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit, and gave it to her husband.
Genesis 3:7And the eyes of them both were opened: and when they perceived themselves to be naked, they sewed together fig leaves, and made themselves aprons. And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig-leaves together, and made themselves aprons. And their eyes were open and they were conscious that they had no clothing and they made themselves coats of leaves stitched together.
Genesis 3:8And when they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in paradise at the afternoon air, Adam and his wife hid themselves from the face of the Lord God, amidst the trees of paradise. And they heard the voice of Jehovah Elohim, walking in the garden in the cool of the day. And Man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of Jehovah Elohim, in the midst of the trees of the garden. And there came to them the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the evening wind: and the man and his wife went to a secret place among the trees of the garden, away from the eyes of the Lord God.
Genesis 3:9And the Lord God called Adam, and said to him: Where art thou? And Jehovah Elohim called to Man, and said to him, Where art thou? And the voice of the Lord God came to the man, saying, Where are you?
Genesis 3:10And he said: I heard thy voice in paradise; and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself. And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I feared, because I am naked; and I hid myself. And he said, Hearing your voice in the garden I was full of fear, because I was without clothing: and I kept myself from your eyes.
Genesis 3:11And he said to him: And who hath told thee that thou wast naked, but that thou hast eaten of the tree whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldst not eat?And he said, Who told thee that thou art naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree of which I commanded thee not to eat?And he said, Who gave you the knowledge that you were without clothing? Have you taken of the fruit of the tree which I said you were not to take?
Genesis 3:12And Adam said: The woman, whom thou gavest me to be my companion, gave me of the tree, and I did eat.And Man said, The woman, whom thou hast given [to be] with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.And the man said, The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me the fruit of the tree and I took it.
Genesis 3:13And the Lord God said to the woman: Why hast thou done this? And she answered: The serpent deceived me, and I did eat.And Jehovah Elohim said to the woman, What is this thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent deceived me, and I ate.And the Lord God said to the woman, What have you done? And the woman said, I was tricked by the deceit of the snake and I took it.
Genesis 3:14And the Lord God said to the serpent: Because thou hast done this thing, thou art cursed among all cattle, and the beasts of the earth: upon thy breast shalt thou go, and earth shalt thou eat all the days of thy life. And Jehovah Elohim said to the serpent, Because thou hast done this, be thou cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field. On thy belly shalt thou go, and eat dust all the days of thy life. And the Lord God said to the snake, Because you have done this you are cursed more than all cattle and every beast of the field; you will go flat on the earth, and dust will be your food all the days of your life:
Genesis 3:15I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed: she shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel. And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; he shall crush thy head, and thou shalt crush his heel. And there will be war between you and the woman and between your seed and her seed: by him will your head be crushed and by you his foot will be wounded.
Genesis 3:16To the woman also he said: I will multiply thy sorrows, and thy conceptions: in sorrow shalt thou bring forth children, and thou shalt be under thy husband's power, and he shall have dominion over thee.To the woman he said, I will greatly increase thy travail and thy pregnancy; with pain thou shalt bear children; and to thy husband shall be thy desire, and he shall rule over thee.To the woman he said, Great will be your pain in childbirth; in sorrow will your children come to birth; still your desire will be for your husband, but he will be your master.
Genesis 3:17And to Adam he said: Because thou hast hearkened to the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldst not eat, cursed is the earth in thy work; with labour and toil shalt thou eat thereof all the days of thy life. And to Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened to the voice of thy wife, and eaten of the tree of which I commanded thee saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed be the ground on thy account; with toil shalt thou eat [of] it all the days of thy life; And to Adam he said, Because you gave ear to the voice of your wife and took of the fruit of the tree which I said you were not to take, the earth is cursed on your account; in pain you will get your food from it all your life.
Genesis 3:18Thorns and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou eat the herbs of the earth.and thorns and thistles shall it yield thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field.Thorns and waste plants will come up, and the plants of the field will be your food;
Genesis 3:19In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread till thou return to the earth, out of which thou wast taken: for dust thou art, and into dust thou shalt return. In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, until thou return to the ground: for out of it wast thou taken. For dust thou art; and unto dust shalt thou return. With the hard work of your hands you will get your bread till you go back to the earth from which you were taken: for dust you are and to the dust you will go back.
Genesis 3:20And Adam called the name of his wife Eve: because she was the mother of all the living. And Man called his wife's name Eve; because she is the mother of all living. And the man gave his wife the name of Eve because she was the mother of all who have life.
Genesis 3:21And the Lord God made for Adam and his wife, garments of skins, and clothed them. And Jehovah Elohim made Adam and his wife coats of skin, and clothed them. And the Lord God made for Adam and for his wife coats of skins for their clothing.
Genesis 3:22And he said: Behold Adam is become as one of us, knowing good and evil: now, therefore, lest perhaps he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever. And Jehovah Elohim said, Behold, Man is become as one of us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he stretch out his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever ...!And the Lord God said, Now the man has become like one of us, having knowledge of good and evil; and now if he puts out his hand and takes of the fruit of the tree of life, he will go on living for ever.
Genesis 3:23And the Lord God sent him out of the paradise of pleasure, to till the earth from which he was taken. Therefore Jehovah Elohim sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from which he was taken. So the Lord God sent him out of the garden of Eden to be a worker on the earth from which he was taken.
Genesis 3:24And he cast out Adam; and placed before the paradise of pleasure Cherubims, and a flaming sword, turning every way, to keep the way of the tree of life. And he drove out Man; and he set the Cherubim, and the flame of the flashing sword, toward the east of the garden of Eden, to guard the way to the tree of life.So he sent the man out; and at the east of the garden of Eden he put winged ones and a flaming sword turning every way to keep the way to the tree of life.
