Genesis 4:1And Adam knew Eve his wife: who conceived and brought forth Cain, saying: I have gotten a man through God.And Man knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bore Cain, and said, I have acquired a man with Jehovah.And the man had connection with Eve his wife, and she became with child and gave birth to Cain, and said, I have got a man from the Lord.
Genesis 4:2And again she brought forth his brother Abel. And Abel was a shepherd, and Cain a husbandman.And she further bore his brother Abel. And Abel was a shepherd, but Cain was a husbandman.Then again she became with child and gave birth to Abel, his brother. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a farmer.
Genesis 4:3And it came to pass after many days, that Cain offered, of the fruits of the earth, gifts to the Lord.And in process of time it came to pass that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering to Jehovah.And after a time, Cain gave to the Lord an offering of the fruits of the earth.
Genesis 4:4Abel also offered of the firstlings of his flock, and of their fat: and the Lord had respect to Abel, and to his offerings.And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock, and of their fat. And Jehovah looked upon Abel, and on his offering;And Abel gave an offering of the young lambs of his flock and of their fat. And the Lord was pleased with Abel's offering;
Genesis 4:5But to Cain and his offerings he had no respect: and Cain was exceedingly angry, and his countenance fell.and upon Cain, and on his offering, he did not look. And Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell.But in Cain and his offering he had no pleasure. And Cain was angry and his face became sad.
Genesis 4:6And the Lord said to him: Why art thou angry? and why is thy countenance fallen?And Jehovah said to Cain, Why art thou angry, and why is thy countenance fallen?And the Lord said to Cain, Why are you angry? and why is your face sad?
Genesis 4:7If thou do well, shalt thou not receive? but if ill, shall not sin forthwith be present at the door? but the lust thereof shall be under thee, and thou shalt have dominion over it.If thou doest well, will not [thy countenance] look up [with confidence]? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door; and unto thee [shall be] his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.If you do well, will you not have honour? and if you do wrong, sin is waiting at the door, desiring to have you, but do not let it be your master.
Genesis 4:8And Cain said to Abel his brother: Let us go forth abroad. And when they were in the field, Cain rose up against his brother Abel, and slew him.And Cain spoke to Abel his brother, and it came to pass when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.And Cain said to his brother, Let us go into the field: and when they were in the field, Cain made an attack on his brother Abel and put him to death.
Genesis 4:9And the Lord said to Cain: Where is thy brother Abel? And he answered, I know not: am I my brother's keeper?And Jehovah said to Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: am I my brother's keeper?And the Lord said to Cain, Where is your brother Abel? And he said, I have no idea: am I my brother's keeper?
Genesis 4:10And he said to him: What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth to me from the earth.And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood is crying to me from the ground.And he said, What have you done? the voice of your brother's blood is crying to me from the earth.
Genesis 4:11Now, therefore, cursed shalt thou be upon the earth, which hath opened her mouth and received the blood of thy brother at thy hand,And now be thou cursed from the ground, which hath opened its mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand.And now you are cursed from the earth, whose mouth is open to take your brother's blood from your hand;
Genesis 4:12When thou shalt till it, it shall not yield to thee its fruit: a fugitive and vagabond shalt thou be upon the earth.When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield thee its strength; a wanderer and fugitive shalt thou be on the earth.No longer will the earth give you her fruit as the reward of your work; you will be a wanderer in flight over the earth.
Genesis 4:13And Cain said to the Lord: My iniquity is greater than that I may deserve pardon.And Cain said to Jehovah, My punishment is too great to be borne.And Cain said, My punishment is greater than my strength.
Genesis 4:14Behold thou dost cast me out this day from the face of the earth, and I shall be hidden from thy face, and I shall be a vagabond and a fugitive on the earth: everyone, therefore, that findeth me, shall kill me.Behold, thou hast driven me this day from the face of the ground, and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a wanderer and fugitive on the earth; and it will come to pass, [that] every one who finds me will slay me.You have sent me out this day from the face of the earth and from before your face; I will be a wanderer in flight over the earth, and whoever sees me will put me to death.
Genesis 4:15And the Lord said to him: No, it shall not be so: but whosoever shall kill Cain, shall be punished sevenfold. And the Lord set a mark upon Cain, that whosoever found him should not kill him.And Jehovah said to him, Therefore, whoever slayeth Cain, it shall be revenged sevenfold. And Jehovah set a mark on Cain, lest any finding him should smite him.And the Lord said, Truly, if Cain is put to death, seven lives will be taken for his. And the Lord put a mark on Cain so that no one might put him to death.
Genesis 4:16And Cain went out from the face of the Lord, and dwelt as a fugitive on the earth, at the east side of Eden.And Cain went out from the presence of Jehovah, and dwelt in the land of Nod, toward the east of Eden.And Cain went away from before the face of the Lord, and made his living-place in the land of Nod on the east of Eden.
Genesis 4:17And Cain knew his wife, and she conceived, and brought forth Henoch: and he built a city, and called the name thereof by the name of his son Henoch.And Cain knew his wife, and she conceived and bore Enoch. And he built a city; and he called the name of the city after the name of his son Enoch.And Cain had connection with his wife and she became with child and gave birth to Enoch: and he made a town, and gave the town the name of Enoch after his son.
Genesis 4:18And Henoch begot Irad, and Irad begot Maviael, and Maviael begot Mathusael, and Mathusael begot Lamech:And to Enoch was born Irad; and Irad begot Mehujael; and Mehujael begot Methushael; and Methushael begot Lemech.And Enoch had a son Irad: and Irad became the father of Mehujael: and Mehujael became the father of Methushael: and Methushael became the father of Lamech.
Genesis 4:19Who took two wives: the name of the one was Ada, and the name of the other was Sella.And Lemech took two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the second, Zillah.And Lamech had two wives; the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah.
Genesis 4:20And Ada brought forth Jabel: who was the father of such as dwell in tents, and of herdsmen.And Adah bore Jabal: he was the father of those who dwell in tents, and [breed] cattle.And Adah gave birth to Jabal: he was the father of such as are living in tents and keep cattle.
Genesis 4:21And his brother's name was Jubal; he was the father of them that play upon the harp and the organs.And his brother's name was Jubal: he was the father of those who handle the harp and pipe.And his brother's name was Jubal: he was the father of all players on instruments of music.
Genesis 4:22Sella also brought forth Tubalcain, who was a hammerer and artificer in every work of brass and iron. And the sister of Tubalcain was Noema.And Zillah, she also bore Tubal-Cain, the forger of every kind of tool of brass and iron. And the sister of Tubal-Cain was Naamah.And Zillah gave birth to Tubal-cain, who is the father of every maker of cutting instruments of brass and iron: and the sister of Tubal-cain was Naamah.
Genesis 4:23And Lamech said to his wives Ada and Sell: Hear my voice, ye wives of Lamech, hearken to my speech: for I have slain a man to the wounding of myself, and a stripling to my own bruising.And Lemech said to his wives: Adah and Zillah, hear my voice, Ye wives of Lemech, listen to my speech. For I have slain a man for my wound, and a youth for my bruise.And Lamech said to his wives, Adah and Zillah, give ear to my voice; you wives of Lamech, give attention to my words, for I would put a man to death for a wound, and a young man for a blow;
Genesis 4:24Sevenfold vengeance shall be taken for Cain: but for Lamech seventy times sevenfold.If Cain shall be avenged seven-fold; Lemech seventy and seven fold.If seven lives are to be taken as punishment for Cain's death, seventy-seven will be taken for Lamech's.
Genesis 4:25Adam also knew his wife again: and she brought forth a son, and called his name Seth, saying: God hath given me another seed, for Abel whom Cain slew.And Adam knew his wife again, and she bore a son, and called his name Seth: ... For God has appointed me another seed instead of Abel, because Cain has slain him.And Adam had connection with his wife again, and she gave birth to a son to whom she gave the name of Seth: for she said, God has given me another seed in place of Abel, whom Cain put to death.
Genesis 4:26But to Seth also was born a son, whom he called Enos; this man began to call upon the name of the Lord.And to Seth, to him also was born a son; and he called his name Enosh. Then people began to call on the name of Jehovah.And Seth had a son, and he gave him the name of Enosh: at this time men first made use of the name of the Lord in worship.
