Luke 5:1And it came to pass, that when the multitudes pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Genesareth,And it came to pass, as the crowd pressed on him to hear the word of God, that he was standing by the lake of Gennesaret:Now it came about that while the people came pushing to be near him, and to have knowledge of the word of God, he was by a wide stretch of water named Gennesaret;
Luke 5:2And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets.and he saw two ships standing by the lake, but the fishermen, having come down from them, were washing their nets.And he saw two boats by the edge of the water, but the fishermen had gone out of them and were washing their nets.
Luke 5:3And going into one of the ships that was Simon's, he desired him to draw back a little from the land. And sitting he taught the multitudes out of the ship.And getting into one of the ships, which was Simon's, he asked him to draw out a little from the land; and he sat down and taught the crowds out of the ship.And he got into one of the boats, the property of Simon, and made a request to him to go a little way out from the land. And being seated he gave the people teaching from the boat.
Luke 5:4Now when he had ceased to speak, he said to Simon: Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.But when he ceased speaking, he said to Simon, Draw out into the deep [water] and let down your nets for a haul.And when his talk was ended, he said to Simon, Go out into deep water, and let down your nets for fish.
Luke 5:5And Simon answering said to him: Master, we have labored all the night, and have taken nothing: but at thy word I will let down the net.And Simon answering said to him, Master, having laboured through the whole night we have taken nothing, but at thy word I will let down the net.And Simon, answering, said, Master, we were working all night and we took nothing: but at your word I will let down the nets.
Luke 5:6And when they had done this, they enclosed a very great multitude of fishes, and their net broke.And having done this, they enclosed a great multitude of fishes. And their net broke.And when they had done this, they got such a great number of fish that it seemed as if their nets would be broken;
Luke 5:7And they beckoned to their partners that were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they were almost sinking.And they beckoned to their partners who were in the other ship to come and help them, and they came, and filled both the ships, so that they were sinking.And they made signs to their friends in the other boat to come to their help. And they came, and the two boats were so full that they were going down.
Luke 5:8Which when Simon Peter saw, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying: Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.But Simon Peter, seeing it, fell at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, Lord.But Simon, when he saw it, went down at the knees of Jesus and said, Go away from me, O Lord, for I am a sinner.
Luke 5:9For he was wholly astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken.For astonishment had laid hold on him, and on all those who were with him, at the haul of fishes which they had taken;For he was full of wonder and so were all those who were with him, at the number of fish which they had taken;
Luke 5:10And so were also James and John the sons of Zebedee, who were Simon's partners. And Jesus saith to Simon: Fear not: from henceforth thou shalt catch men.and in like manner also on James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, Fear not; henceforth thou shalt be catching men.And so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were working with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, Have no fear; from this time forward you will be a fisher of men.
Luke 5:11And having brought their ships to land, leaving all things, they followed him.And having run the ships on shore, leaving all they followed him.And when they had got their boats to the land, they gave up everything and went after him.
Luke 5:12And it came to pass, when he was ina certain city, behold a man full of leprosy, who seeing Jesus, and falling on his face, besought him, saying: Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.And it came to pass as he was in one of the cities, that behold, there was a man full of leprosy, and seeing Jesus, falling upon his face, he besought him saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou art able to cleanse me.And it came about that while he was in one of the towns, there was a leper there: and when he saw Jesus he went down on his face in prayer to him, saying, Lord, if it is your pleasure, you have power to make me clean.
Luke 5:13And stretching forth his hand, he touched him, saying: I will. Be thou cleansed. And immediately the leprosy departed from him.And stretching forth his hand he touched him, saying, I will; be thou cleansed: and immediately the leprosy departed from him.And he put out his hand to him and said, It is my pleasure; be clean. And straight away his disease went from him.
Luke 5:14And he charged him that he should tell no man, but, Go, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing according as Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.And he enjoined him to tell no one; but go, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing as Moses ordained, for a testimony to them.And he gave him orders: Say nothing to any man, but let the priest see you and give an offering so that you may be made clean, as the law of Moses says, and for a witness to them.
Luke 5:15But the fame of him went abroad the more, and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities.But the report concerning him was spread abroad still more, and great crowds came together to hear, and to be healed from their infirmities.But news of him went out all the more, in every direction, and great numbers of people came together to give hearing to his words and to be made well from their diseases.
Luke 5:16And he retired into the desert, and prayed.And *he* withdrew himself, and was about in the desert [places] and praying.But he went away by himself to a waste place for prayer.
Luke 5:17And it came to pass on a certain day, as he sat teaching, that there were also Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, that were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judea and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was to heal them.And it came to pass on one of the days, that *he* was teaching, and there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, who were come out of every village of Galilee and Judaea and [out of] Jerusalem; and [the] Lord's power was [there] to heal them.And it came about that on one of these days he was teaching; and some Pharisees and teachers of the law were seated there, who had come from every town of Galilee and Judaea and from Jerusalem; and the power of the Lord was with him, to make those who were ill free from their diseases.
Luke 5:18And behold, men brought in a bed a man, who had the palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him.And lo, men bringing upon a couch a man who was paralysed; and they sought to bring him in, and put [him] before him.And some men had with them, on a bed, a man who was ill, without power of moving; and they made attempts to get him in and put him before Jesus.
Luke 5:19And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in, because of the multitude, they went up upon the roof, and let him down through the tiles with his bed into the midst before Jesus.And not finding what way to bring him in, on account of the crowd, going up on the housetop they let him down through the tiles, with his little couch, into the midst before Jesus.And because of the mass of people, there was no way to get him in; so they went up on the top of the house and let him down through the roof, on his bed, into the middle in front of Jesus.
Luke 5:20Whose faith when he saw, he said: Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.And seeing their faith, he said, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.And seeing their faith he said, Man, you have forgiveness for your sins.
Luke 5:21And the scribes and Pharisees began to think, saying: Who is this who speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason [in their minds], saying, Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who is able to forgive sins but God alone?And the scribes and Pharisees were having an argument, saying, Who is this, who has no respect for God? who is able to give forgiveness for sins, but God only?
Luke 5:22And when Jesus knew their thoughts, answering, he said to them: What is it you think in your hearts?But Jesus, knowing their reasonings, answering said to them, Why reason ye in your hearts?But Jesus, who had knowledge of their thoughts, said to them, Why are you reasoning in your hearts?
Luke 5:23Which is easier to say, Thy sins are forgiven thee; or to say, Arise and walk?which is easier, to say, Thy sins are forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk?Which is the simpler: to say, You have forgiveness for your sins; or to say, Get up and go?
Luke 5:24But that you may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,) I say to thee, Arise, take up thy bed, and go into thy house.But that ye may know that the Son of man has power on earth to forgive sins, he said to the paralysed man, I say to thee, Arise, and take up thy little couch and go to thine house.But so that you may see that on earth the Son of man has authority for the forgiveness of sins, (he said to the man who was ill,) I say to you, Get up, and take up your bed, and go into your house.
Luke 5:25And immediately rising up before them, he took up the bed on which he lay; and he went away to his own house, glorifying God.And immediately standing up before them, having taken up that whereon he was laid, he departed to his house, glorifying God.And straight away he got up before them, and took up his bed and went away to his house giving praise to God.
Luke 5:26And all were astonished; and they glorified God. And they were filled with fear, saying: We have seen wonderful things to day.And astonishment seized all, and they glorified God, and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to-day.And wonder overcame them all, and they gave glory to God; and they were full of fear, saying, We have seen strange things today.
Luke 5:27And after these things he went forth, and saw a publican named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom, and he said to him: Follow me.And after these things he went forth and saw a tax-gatherer, Levi by name, sitting at the receipt of taxes, and said to him, Follow me.And after these things he went out, and saw Levi, a tax-farmer, seated at the place where taxes were taken, and said to him, Come after me.
Luke 5:28And leaving all things, he rose up and followed him.And having left all, rising up, he followed him.And giving up his business, he got up and went after him.
Luke 5:29And Levi made him a great feast in his own house; and there was a great company of publicans, and of others, that were at table with them.And Levi made a great entertainment for him in his house, and there was a great crowd of tax-gatherers and others who were at table with them.And Levi made a great feast for him in his house: and a great number of tax-farmers and others were seated at table with them.
Luke 5:30But the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying to his disciples: Why do you eat and drink with publicans and sinners?And their scribes and the Pharisees murmured at his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with tax-gatherers and sinners?And the Pharisees and their scribes made protests against his disciples, saying, Why do you take food and drink with tax-farmers and sinners?
Luke 5:31And Jesus answering, said to them: They that are whole, need not the physician: but they that are sick.And Jesus answering said to them, They that are in sound health have not need of a physician, but those that are ill.And Jesus, answering, said to them, Those who are well have no need of a medical man, but those who are ill.
Luke 5:32I came not to call the just, but sinners to penance.I am not come to call righteous [persons], but sinful [ones] to repentance.I have come, not to get the upright, but sinners, so that they may be turned from their sins.
Luke 5:33And they said to him: Why do the disciples of John fast often, and make prayers, and the disciples of the Pharisees in like manner; but thine eat and drink?And they said to him, Why do the disciples of John fast often and make supplications, in like manner those also of the Pharisees, but thine eat and drink?And they said to him, The disciples of John frequently go without food, and make prayers, and so do the disciples of the Pharisees; but your disciples take food and drink.
Luke 5:34To whom he said: Can you make the children of the bridegroom fast, whilst the bridegroom is with them?And he said to them, Can ye make the sons of the bridechamber fast when the bridegroom is with them?And Jesus said, Are you able to make the friends of the newly-married man go without food when he is with them?
Luke 5:35But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, then shall they fast in those days.But days will come when also the bridegroom will have been taken away from them; then shall they fast in those days.But the days will come when he will be taken away from them, and then they will go without food.
Luke 5:36And he spoke also a similitude to them: That no man putteth a piece from a new garment upon an old garment; otherwise he both rendeth the new, and the piece taken from the new agreeth not with the old.And he spoke also a parable to them: No one puts a piece of a new garment upon an old garment, otherwise he will both rend the new, and the piece which is from the new will not suit with the old.And he said to them, in a story, No man takes a bit of cloth from a new coat and puts it on to an old coat, for so the new coat would be damaged and the bit from the new would not go well with the old.
Luke 5:37And no man putteth new wine into old bottle: otherwise the new wine will break the bottles, and it will be spilled, and the bottles will be lost.And no one puts new wine into old skins, otherwise the new wine will burst the skins, and it will be poured out, and the skins will be destroyed;And no man puts new wine into old wine-skins, for fear that the skins will be burst by the new wine, and the wine be let out, and the skins come to destruction.
Luke 5:38But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved.but new wine is to be put into new skins, and both are preserved.But new wine has to be put into new wine-skins.
Luke 5:39And no man drinking old, hath presently a mind to new: for he saith, The old is better.And no one having drunk old wine [straightway] wishes for new, for he says, The old is better.And no man, having had old wine, has any desire for new, for he says, The old is better.
