Mark 5:1And they came over the strait of the sea into the country of the Gerasens.And they came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gadarenes.And they came to the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gerasenes.
Mark 5:2And as he went out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the monuments a man with an unclean spirit,And immediately on his going out of the ship there met him out of the tombs a man possessed by an unclean spirit,And when he had got out of the boat, straight away there came to him from the place of the dead a man with an unclean spirit.
Mark 5:3Who had his dwelling in the tombs, and no man now could bind him, not even with chains.who had his dwelling in the tombs; and no one was able to bind him, not even with chains;He was living in the place of the dead: and no man was able to keep him down, no, not with a chain;
Mark 5:4For having been often bound with fetters and chains, he had burst the chains, and broken the fetters in pieces, and no one could tame him.because he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been torn asunder by him, and the fetters were shattered; and no one was able to subdue him.Because he had frequently been prisoned in chains and iron bands, and the chains had been parted and the bands broken by him: and no man was strong enough to make him quiet.
Mark 5:5And he was always day and night in the monuments and in the mountains, crying and cutting himself with stones.And continually night and day, in the tombs and in the mountains, he was crying and cutting himself with stones.And all the time, by day and by night, in the place of the dead, and in the mountains, he was crying out and cutting himself with stones.
Mark 5:6And seeing Jesus afar off, he ran and adored him.But seeing Jesus from afar off, he ran and did him homage,And when he saw Jesus from far off, he went quickly to him and gave him worship;
Mark 5:7And crying with a loud voice, he said: What have I to do with thee, Jesus the Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God that thou torment me not.and crying with a loud voice he says, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I adjure thee by God, torment me not.And crying out with a loud voice he said, What have I to do with you, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? In God's name, do not be cruel to me.
Mark 5:8For he said unto him: Go out of the man, thou unclean spirit.For he said to him, Come forth, unclean spirit, out of the man.For Jesus had said to him, Come out of the man, you unclean spirit.
Mark 5:9And he asked him: What is thy name? And he saith to him: My name is Legion, for we are many.And he asked him, What is thy name? And he says to him, Legion is my name, because we are many.And Jesus said, What is your name? And he made answer, My name is Legion, because there are a great number of us.
Mark 5:10And he besought him much, that he would not drive him away out of the country.And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.And he made strong prayers to him not to send them away out of the country.
Mark 5:11And there was there near the mountain a great herd of swine, feeding.Now there was there just at the mountain a great herd of swine feeding;Now on the mountain side there was a great herd of pigs getting their food.
Mark 5:12And the spirits besought him, saying: Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.and they besought him, saying, Send us into the swine that we may enter into them.And they said to him, Send us into the pigs, so that we may go into them.
Mark 5:13And Jesus immediately gave them leave. And the unclean spirits going out, entered into the swine: and the herd with great violence was carried headlong into the sea, being about two thousand, and were stifled in the sea.And Jesus [immediately] allowed them. And the unclean spirits going out entered into the swine, and the herd rushed down the steep slope, into the sea (about two thousand), and were choked in the sea.And he let them do it. And the unclean spirits came out and went into the pigs; and the herd went rushing down a sharp slope into the sea, about two thousand of them; and they came to their death in the sea.
Mark 5:14And they that fed them fled, and told it in the city and in the fields. And they went out to see what was done:And those that were feeding them fled and reported it in the city and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that had taken place.And their keepers went running and gave an account of it in the town and in the country. And people came to see what had taken place.
Mark 5:15And they came to Jesus, and they see him that was troubled with the devil, sitting, clothed, and well in his wits, and they were afraid.And they come to Jesus, and they see the possessed of demons sitting [and] clothed and sensible, [him] that had had the legion: and they were afraid.And they came to Jesus, and saw the man in whom had been the evil spirits seated, clothed and with full use of his senses, and they were full of fear.
Mark 5:16And they that had seen it, told them, in what manner he had been dealt with who had the devil; and concerning the swine.And they that had seen [it] related to them how it had happened to the [man] possessed by demons, and concerning the swine.And those who had seen it gave them an account of what had been done to him who had the evil spirits, and of the fate of the pigs.
Mark 5:17And they began to pray him that he would depart from their coasts.And they began to beg him to depart from their coasts.And they made a request to him to go out of their country.
Mark 5:18And when he went up into the ship, he that had been troubled with the devil, began to beseech him that he might be with him.And as he went on board ship, the man that had been possessed by demons besought him that he might be with him.And when he was getting into the boat, the man in whom had been the evil spirits had a great desire to come with him.
Mark 5:19And he admitted him not, but saith to him: Go into thy house to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had mercy on thee.And he suffered him not, but says to him, Go to thine home to thine own people, and tell them how great things the Lord has done for thee, and has had mercy on thee.And he would not let him, but said to him, Go to your house, to your friends, and give them news of the great things the Lord has done for you, and how he had mercy on you.
Mark 5:20And he went his way, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men wondered.And he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him; and all wondered.And he went on his way, and made public in the country of Decapolis what great things Jesus had done for him: and all men were full of wonder.
Mark 5:21And when Jesus had passed again in the ship over the strait, a great multitude assembled together unto him, and he was nigh unto the sea.And Jesus having passed over in the ship again to the other side, a great crowd gathered to him; and he was by the sea.And when Jesus had gone over again in the boat to the other side, a great number of people came to him: and he was by the sea.
Mark 5:22And there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue named Jairus: and seeing him, falleth down at his feet.And [behold] there comes one of the rulers of the synagogue, by name Jairus, and seeing him, falls down at his feet;And one of the rulers of the Synagogue, Jairus by name, came, and seeing him, went down at his feet,
Mark 5:23And he besought him much, saying: My daughter is at the point of death, come, lay thy hand upon her, that she may be safe, and may live.and he besought him much, saying, My little daughter is at extremity; [I pray] that thou shouldest come and lay thy hands upon her so that she may be healed, and may live.And made strong prayers to him, saying, My little daughter is near to death: it is my prayer that you will come and put your hands on her, so that she may be made well, and have life.
Mark 5:24And he went with him, and a great multitude followed him, and they thronged him.And he went with him, and a large crowd followed him and pressed on him.And he went with him; and a great number of people went after him, and came round him.
Mark 5:25And a woman who was under an issue of blood twelve years,And a certain woman who had had a flux of blood twelve years,And a woman, who had had a flow of blood for twelve years,
Mark 5:26And had suffered many things from many physicians; and had spent all that she had, and was nothing the better, but rather worse,and had suffered much under many physicians, and had spent everything she had and had found no advantage from it, but had rather got worse,And had undergone much at the hands of a number of medical men, and had given all she had, and was no better, but even worse,
Mark 5:27When she had heard of Jesus, came in the crowd behind him, and touched his garment.having heard concerning Jesus, came in the crowd behind and touched his clothes;When she had news of the things which Jesus did, went among the people coming after him, and put her hand on his robe.
Mark 5:28For she said: If I shall touch but his garment, I shall be whole.for she said, If I shall touch but his clothes I shall be healed.For she said, If I may only put my hand on his robe, I will be made well.
Mark 5:29And forthwith the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the evil.And immediately her fountain of blood was dried up, and she knew in her body that she was cured from the scourge.And straight away the fountain of her blood was stopped, and she had a feeling in her body that her disease had gone and she was well.
Mark 5:30And immediately Jesus knowing in himself the virtue that had proceeded from him, turning to the multitude, said: Who hath touched my garments?And immediately Jesus, knowing in himself the power that had gone out of him, turning round in the crowd said, Who has touched my clothes?And straight away Jesus was conscious that power had gone out of him; and, turning to the people, he said, Who was touching my robe?
Mark 5:31And his disciples said to him: Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou who hath touched me?And his disciples said to him, Thou seest the crowd pressing on thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?And his disciples said to him, You see the people round you on every side, and you say, Who was touching me?
Mark 5:32And he looked about to see her who had done this.And he looked round about to see her who had done this.And on his looking round to see her who had done this thing,
Mark 5:33But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.But the woman, frightened and trembling, knowing what had taken place in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.The woman, shaking with fear, conscious of what had been done to her, came and, falling on her face before him, gave him a true account of everything.
Mark 5:34And he said to her: Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole: go in peace, and be thou whole of thy disease.And he said to her, Daughter, thy faith has healed thee; go in peace, and be well of thy scourge.And he said to her, Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be free from your disease.
Mark 5:35While he was yet speaking, some come from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying: Thy daughter is dead: why dost thou trouble the master any further?While he was yet speaking, they come from the ruler of the synagogue's [house], saying, Thy daughter has died, why troublest thou the teacher any further?And while he was still talking, they came from the ruler of the Synagogue's house, saying, Your daughter is dead: why are you still troubling the Master?
Mark 5:36But Jesus having heard the word that was spoken, saith to the ruler of the synagogue: Fear not, only believe.But Jesus [immediately], having heard the word spoken, says to the ruler of the synagogue, Fear not; only believe.But Jesus, giving no attention to their words, said to the ruler of the Synagogue, Have no fear, only have faith.
Mark 5:37And he admitted not any man to follow him, but Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.And he suffered no one to accompany him save Peter and James, and John the brother of James.And he did not let anyone come with him, but Peter and James and John, the brother of James.
Mark 5:38And they come to the house of the ruler of the synagogue; and he seeth a tumult, and people weeping and wailing much.And he comes to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and sees the tumult, and people weeping and wailing greatly.And they came to the house of the ruler of the Synagogue; and he saw people running this way and that, and weeping and crying loudly.
Mark 5:39And going in, he saith to them: Why make you this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.And entering in he says to them, Why do ye make a tumult and weep? the child has not died, but sleeps.And when he had gone in, he said to them, Why are you making such a noise and weeping? The child is not dead, but sleeping.
Mark 5:40And they laughed him to scorn. But he having put them all out, taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying.And they derided him. But he, having put [them] all out, takes with [him] the father of the child, and the mother, and those that were with him, and enters in where the child was lying.And they were laughing at him. But he, having sent them all out, took the father of the child and her mother and those who were with him, and went in where the child was.
Mark 5:41And taking the damsel by the hand, he saith to her: Talitha cumi, which is, being interpreted: Damsel (I say to thee) arise.And having laid hold of the hand of the child, he says to her, Talitha koumi, which is, interpreted, Damsel, I say to thee, Arise.And taking her by the hand, he said to her, Talitha cumi, which is, My child, I say to you, Get up.
Mark 5:42And immediately the damsel rose up, and walked: and she was twelve years old: and they were astonished with a great astonishment.And immediately the damsel arose and walked, for she was twelve years old. And they were astonished with great astonishment.And the young girl got up straight away, and was walking about; she being twelve years old. And they were overcome with wonder.
Mark 5:43And he charged them strictly that no man should know it: and commanded that something should be given her to eat.And he charged them much that no one should know this; and he desired that [something] should be given her to eat.And he gave them special orders that they were not to say anything of this; and he said that some food was to be given to her.
