| Numbers 5:1 | And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: | And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying, | And the Lord said to Moses, |
| Numbers 5:2 | Command the children of Israel, that they cast out of the camp every leper, and whosoever hath an issue of seed, or is defiled by the dead: | Command the children of Israel, that they put out of the camp every leper, and every one that hath an issue, and whosoever is defiled by a dead person: | Give orders to the children of Israel to put outside the tent-circle every leper, and anyone who has any sort of flow from his body, and anyone who is unclean from the touch of the dead; |
| Numbers 5:3 | Whether it be man or woman, cast ye them out of the camp, lest they defile it when I shall dwell with you. | both male and female shall ye put out; outside the camp shall ye put them, that they defile not their camps, in the midst whereof I dwell. | Male or female they are to be put outside the tent-circle, so that they may not make unclean my resting-place among them. |

| Numbers 5:6 | Say to the children of Israel: When a man or woman shall have committed any of all the sins that men are wont to commit, and by negligence shall have transgressed the commandment of the Lord, and offended, | Speak unto the children of Israel, When a man or woman shall commit any of all the sins of man to work unfaithfulness against Jehovah, and that soul is guilty, | Say to the children of Israel, If a man or a woman does any of the sins of men, going against the word of the Lord, and is in the wrong; |
| Numbers 5:7 | They shall confess their sin, and restore the principal itself, and the fifth part over and above, to him against whom they have sinned. | then they shall confess their sin which they have done; and he shall recompense his trespass according to the principal thereof, and shall add unto it the fifth part thereof, and give it unto him against whom he hath trespassed. | Let them say openly what they have done; and make payment for the wrong done, with the addition of a fifth part, and give it to him to whom the wrong was done. |
| Numbers 5:8 | But if there be no one to receive it, they shall give it to the Lord, and it shall be the priest's, besides the ram that is offered for expiation, to be an atoning sacrifice. | And if the man have no kinsman to recompense the trespass unto, the trespass which is recompensed to Jehovah shall be the priest's, besides the ram of the atonement, wherewith an atonement is made for him. | But if the man has no relation to whom the payment may be made, then the payment for sin made to the Lord will be the priest's, in addition to the sheep offered to take away his sin. |

| Numbers 5:10 | And whatsoever is offered into the sanctuary by every one, and is delivered into the hands of the priest, it shall be his. | And every man's hallowed things shall be his: whatever any man giveth the priest shall be his. | And every man's holy things will be his: whatever a man gives to the priest will be his. |

| Numbers 5:12 | Speak to the children of Israel, and thou shalt say to them: The man whose wife shall have gone astray, and contemning her husband, | Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any man's wife go astray, and commit unfaithfulness against him, | Say to the children of Israel, If any man's wife does wrong, sinning against him |
| Numbers 5:13 | Shall have slept with another man, and her husband cannot discover it, but the adultery is secret, and cannot be proved by witnesses, because she was not found in the adultery: | and a man lie with her carnally, and it be hid from the eyes of her husband, and she be defiled in secret, and there be no witness against her, and she have not been caught; | By taking as her lover another man, and keeps it secret so that her husband has no knowledge of it, and there is no witness against her, and she is not taken in the act; |
| Numbers 5:14 | If the spirit of jealousy stir up the husband against his wife, who either is defiled, or is charged with false suspicion, | and the spirit of jealousy come upon him, and he be jealous of his wife, and she have been defiled, or if the spirit of jealousy come upon him, and he be jealous of his wife, and she have not been defiled, | If the spirit of doubt comes into her husband's heart, and he has doubts of his wife, with good cause; or if he has doubts of her without cause: |
| Numbers 5:15 | He shall bring her to the priest, and shall offer an oblation for her, the tenth part of a measure of barley meal: he shall not pour oil thereon, nor put frank- incense upon it: because it is a sacrifice of jealousy, and an oblation searching out adultery. | then shall the man bring his wife unto the priest, and he shall bring her offering for her, a tenth part of an ephah of barley-meal; he shall pour no oil upon it, nor put frankincense thereon; for it is an oblation of jealousy, a memorial oblation, bringing iniquity to remembrance. | Then let him take her to the priest, offering for her the tenth part of an ephah of barley meal, without oil or perfume; for it is a meal offering of a bitter spirit, a meal offering keeping wrongdoing in mind. |

| Numbers 5:17 | And he shall take holy water in an earthen vessel, and he shall cast a little earth of the pavement of the tabernacle into it. | And the priest shall take holy water in an earthen vessel; and the priest shall take of the dust that is on the floor of the tabernacle, and put it into the water. | And the priest will take holy water in a pot and put in it dust from the floor of the House; |
| Numbers 5:18 | And when the woman shall stand before the Lord, he shall uncover her head, and shall, put on her hands the sacrifice of remembrance, and the oblation of jealousy: and he himself shall hold the most bitter waters, whereon he hath heaped curses with execration. | And the priest shall set the woman before Jehovah, and uncover the woman's head, and put the memorial oblation in her hands, which is the jealousy offering; and in the hand of the priest shall be the bitter water that bringeth the curse. | And he will make the woman come before the Lord with her hair loose, and will put the meal offering, the offering of a bitter spirit, in her hands; and the priest will take in his hand the bitter water causing the curse; |
| Numbers 5:19 | And he shall adjure her, and shall say: If another man hath not slept with thee, and if thou be not defiled by forsaking thy husband's bed, these most bitter waters, on which I have heaped curses, shall not hurt thee. | And the priest shall adjure her, and say unto the woman, If no man have lain with thee, and if thou hast not gone astray in uncleanness, in being with another instead of thy husband, be free from this bitter water that bringeth the curse. | And he will make her take an oath, and say to her, If no man has been your lover and you have not been with another in place of your husband, you are free from this bitter water causing the curse; |
| Numbers 5:20 | But if thou hast gone aside from thy husband, and art defiled, and hast lain with another man: | But if thou hast gone astray to another instead of thy husband, and hast been defiled, and a man other than thy husband have lain with thee, | But if you have been with another in place of your husband and have made yourself unclean with a lover: |
| Numbers 5:21 | These curses shall light upon thee: The Lord make thee a curse, and an example for all among his people: may he make thy thigh to rot, and may thy belly swell and burst asunder. | then the priest shall adjure the woman with the oath of cursing, and the priest shall say unto the woman: Jehovah make thee a curse and an oath among thy people, when Jehovah doth make thy thigh to shrink, and thy belly to swell; | Then the priest will put the oath of the curse on the woman, and say to her, May the Lord make you a curse and an oath among your people, sending on you wasting of the legs and disease of the stomach; |
| Numbers 5:22 | Let the cursed waters enter into thy belly, and may thy womb swell and thy thigh rot. And the woman shall answer, Amen, amen. | and this water that bringeth the curse shall enter into thy bowels, to make the belly to swell, and the thigh to shrink. And the woman shall say, Amen, amen. | And this water of the curse will go into your body, causing disease of your stomach and wasting of your legs: and the woman will say, So be it. |
| Numbers 5:23 | And the priest shall write these curses in a book, and shall wash them out with the most bitter waters, upon which he hath heaped the curses, | And the priest shall write these curses in a book, and shall blot them out with the bitter water, | And the priest will put these curses in a book, washing out the writing with the bitter water; |
| Numbers 5:24 | And he shall give them her to drink. And when she hath drunk them up, | and he shall cause the woman to drink the bitter water that bringeth the curse, that the water that bringeth the curse may enter into her for bitterness. | And he will give to the woman the bitter water for drink; and the bitter water causing the curse will go into her. |
| Numbers 5:25 | The priest shall take from her hand the sacrifice of jealousy, and shall elevate it before the Lord, and shall put it upon the altar: yet so as first, | And the priest shall take out of the woman's hand the oblation of jealousy, and shall wave the oblation before Jehovah, and shall present it at the altar. | And the priest will take from her hand the meal offering of doubt, waving it before the Lord, and will take it to the altar; |
| Numbers 5:26 | To take a handful of the sacrifice of that which is offered, and burn it upon the altar: and so give the most bitter waters to the woman to drink. | And the priest shall take a handful of the oblation as a memorial thereof, and burn it upon the altar; and afterwards he shall make the woman drink the water. | And he will take some of it in his hand, burning it on the altar as a sign, and then he will give the woman the bitter water. |
| Numbers 5:27 | And when she hath drunk them, if she be defiled, and having despised her husband be guilty of adultery, the malediction shall go through her, and her belly swelling, her thigh shall rot: and the woman shall be a curse, and an example to all the people. | And when he hath made her to drink the water, then it shall come to pass, if she have been defiled, and have committed unfaithfulness against her husband, that the water that bringeth the curse shall enter into her, for bitterness, and her belly shall swell, and her thigh shall shrink; and the woman shall become a curse among her people. | And it will be that if the woman has become unclean, sinning against her husband, when she has taken the bitter water it will go into her body, causing disease of the stomach and wasting of the legs, and she will be a curse among her people. |
| Numbers 5:28 | But if she be not defiled, she shall not be hurt, and shall bear children. | But if the woman have not been defiled, and be clean, then she shall be clear, and shall conceive seed. | But if she is clean she will be free and will have offspring. |
| Numbers 5:29 | This is the law of jealousy. If a woman hath gone aside from her husband, and be defiled, | This is the law of jealousies, when a wife goeth astray to another instead of her husband and is defiled, | This is the law for testing a wife who goes with another in place of her husband and becomes unclean; |
| Numbers 5:30 | And the husband stirred up by the spirit of jealousy bring her before the Lord, and the priest do to her according to all things that are here written: | or when the spirit of jealousy cometh upon a man, and he is jealous as regards his wife; then shall he set the woman before Jehovah, and the priest shall do to her according to all this law. | Or for a husband who, in a bitter spirit, has doubts in his heart about his wife; let him take her to the priest, who will put in force this law. |
| Numbers 5:31 | The husband shall be blameless, and she shall bear her iniquity. | Then shall the man be free from iniquity, but that woman shall bear her iniquity. | Then the man will be free from all wrong, and the woman's sin will be on her. |
