| Ruth 3:1 | After she was returned to her mother in law, Noemi said to her: My daughter, I will seek rest for thee, and will provide that it may be well with thee. | And Naomi her mother-in-law said to her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee? | And Naomi, her mother-in-law, said to her, My daughter, am I not to get you a resting-place where you may be in comfort? |
| Ruth 3:2 | This Booz, with whose maids thou wast joined in the field, is our near kinsman, and behold this night he winnoweth barley in the threshingfloor. | And now, is not Boaz of our kindred, with whose maidens thou wast? Behold, he is winnowing barley in the threshing-floor to-night. | And now, is there not Boaz, our relation, with whose young women you were? See, tonight he is separating the grain from the waste in his grain-floor. |
| Ruth 3:3 | Wash thyself therefore and anoint thee, and put on thy best garments, and go down to the barnfloor: but let not the man see thee, till he shall have done eating and drinking. | Wash thyself therefore, and anoint thyself, and put thy raiment upon thee, and go down to the floor; make not thyself known to the man, until he shall have done eating and drinking. | So take a bath, and, after rubbing your body with sweet oil, put on your best robe, and go down to the grain-floor; but do not let him see you till he has come to the end of his meal. |
| Ruth 3:4 | And when he shall go to sleep, mark the place wherein he sleepeth: and thou shalt go in, and lift up the clothes wherewith he is covered towards his feet, and shalt lay thyself down there: and he will tell thee what thou must do. | And it shall be, when he lies down, that thou shalt mark the place where he shall have lain down, and thou shalt go in, and uncover his feet, and lay thyself down; and he will shew thee what thou shalt do. | But see to it, when he goes to rest, that you take note of the place where he is sleeping, and go in there, and, uncovering his feet, take your place by him; and he will say what you are to do. |
| Ruth 3:5 | She answered: Whatsoever thou shalt command, I will do. | And she said to her, All that thou sayest will I do. | And she said, I will do all you say. |
| Ruth 3:6 | And she went down to the barnfloor, and did all that her mother in law had bid her. | And she went down to the floor, and did according to all that her mother-in-law had bidden her. | So she went down to the grain-floor and did all her mother-in-law had said to her. |
| Ruth 3:7 | And when Booz had eaten, and drunk, and was merry, he went to sleep by the heap of sheaves, and she came softly and uncovering his feet, laid herself down. | And Boaz ate and drank, and his heart was merry, and he went to lie down at the end of the heap of corn. Then she went softly, and uncovered his feet, and laid herself down. | Now when Boaz had taken meat and drink, and his heart was glad, he went to take his rest at the end of the mass of grain; then she came softly and, uncovering his feet, went to rest. |
| Ruth 3:8 | And behold, when it was now midnight the man was afraid, and troubled: and he saw a woman lying at his feet, | And it came to pass at midnight, that the man was startled, and turned himself; and behold, a woman lay at his feet. | Now in the middle of the night, the man awaking from his sleep in fear, and lifting himself up, saw a woman stretched at his feet. |
| Ruth 3:9 | And he said to her: Who art thou? And she answered: I am Ruth thy handmaid: spread thy coverlet over thy servant, for thou art a near kinsman. | And he said, Who art thou? And she answered, I am Ruth, thy handmaid: spread thy skirt over thy handmaid; for thou hast the right of redemption. | And he said, Who are you? And she answering said, I am your servant Ruth: take your servant as wife, for you are a near relation. |
| Ruth 3:10 | And he said: Blessed art thou of the Lord, my daughter, and thy latter kindness has surpassed the former: because thou hast not followed young men either poor or rich. | And he said, Blessed be thou of Jehovah, my daughter! Thou hast shewn more kindness at the end than at the first, inasmuch as thou followedst not young men, whether poor or rich. | And he said, May the Lord give you his blessing, my daughter: even better than what you did at the first is this last kind act you have done, in not going after young men, with or without wealth. |
| Ruth 3:11 | Fear not therefore, but whatsoever thou shalt say to me I will do to thee. For all the people that dwell within the gates of my city, know that thou art a virtuous woman. | And now, my daughter, fear not: all that thou sayest will I do to thee; for all the gate of my people knows that thou art a woman of worth. | And now, my daughter, have no fear; I will do for you whatever you say: for it is clear to all my townspeople that you are a woman of virtue. |
| Ruth 3:12 | Neither do I deny myself to be near of kin, but there is another nearer than I. | And now, truly I am one that has the right of redemption, yet there is one that has the right of redemption who is nearer than I. | Now it is true that I am a near relation: but there is a relation nearer than I. |
| Ruth 3:13 | Rest thou this night: and when morning is come, if he will take thee by the right of kindred, all is well: but if he will not, I will undoubtedly take thee, as the Lord liveth: sleep till the morning. | Stay over to-night, and it shall be in the morning, if he will redeem thee, well let him redeem; but if he like not to redeem thee, then will I redeem thee, [as] Jehovah liveth. Lie down until the morning. | Take your rest here tonight; and in the morning, if he will do for you what it is right for a relation to do, very well, let him do so: but if he will not, then by the living Lord I myself will do so. |
| Ruth 3:14 | So she slept at his feet till the night was going off. And she arose before men could know one another, and Booz said: Beware lest any man know that thou camest hither. | And she lay at his feet until the morning; and she rose up before one could know another. And he said, Let it not be known that a woman came into the threshing-floor. | And she took her rest at his feet till the morning: and she got up before it was light enough for one to see another. And he said, Let it not come to anyone's knowledge that the woman came to the grain-floor. |
| Ruth 3:15 | And again he said: Spread thy mantle, wherewith thou art covered, and hold it with both hands. And when she spread it and held it, he measured six measures of barley, and laid it upon her. And she carried it and went into the city, | And he said, Bring the cloak that thou hast upon thee, and hold it. And she held it, and he measured six [measures] of barley, and laid [it] on her; and he went into the city. | And he said, Take your robe, stretching it out in your hands: and she did so, and he took six measures of grain and put them into it, and gave it her to take: and she went back to the town. |
| Ruth 3:16 | And came to her mother in law; who said to her: What hast thou done, daughter? And she told her all that the man had done to her. | And she came to her mother-in-law; and she said, Who art thou, my daughter? And she told her all that the man had done to her. | And when she came back her mother-in-law said to her, How did it go with you, my daughter? And she gave her an account of all the man had done to her. |
| Ruth 3:17 | And she said: Behold he hath given me six measures of barley: for he said: I will not have thee return empty to thy mother in law. | And she said, These six [measures] of barley gave he me; for he said to me, Go not empty to thy mother-in-law. | And she said, He gave me these six measures of grain, saying, Do not go back to your mother-in-law with nothing in your hands. |
| Ruth 3:18 | And Noemi said: Wait my daughter, till we see what end the thing will have. For the man will not rest until he have accomplished what he hath said. | Then she said, Be still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall; for the man will not rest until he have completed the matter this day. | Then she said, Do nothing now, my daughter, till you see what will come of this; for the man will take no rest till he has put this thing through. |
