Romans 6:1 | What shall we say, then? shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? | What then shall we say? Should we continue in sin that grace may abound? | What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? |
Romans 6:2 | God forbid. For we that are dead to sin, how shall we live any longer therein? | Far be the thought. We who have died to sin, how shall we still live in it? | By no means: how shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? |
Romans 6:3 | Know you not that all we, who are baptized in Christ Jesus, are baptized in his death? | Are you ignorant that we, as many as have been baptised unto Christ Jesus, have been baptised unto his death? | Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ, were baptized into his death? |
Romans 6:4 | For we are buried together with him by baptism into death; that as Christ is risen from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we also may walk in newness of life. | We have been buried therefore with him by baptism unto death, in order that, even as Christ has been raised up from among [the] dead by the glory of the Father, so *we* also should walk in newness of life. | Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. |
Romans 6:5 | For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection. | For if we are become identified with [him] in the likeness of his death, so also we shall be of [his] resurrection; | For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: |
Romans 6:6 | Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin may be destroyed, to the end that we may serve sin no longer. | knowing this, that our old man has been crucified with [him], that the body of sin might be annulled, that we should no longer serve sin. | Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin may be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. |
Romans 6:7 | For he that is dead is justified from sin. | For he that has died is justified from sin. | For he that is dead is freed from sin. |
Romans 6:8 | Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall live also together with Christ: | Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him, | Now if we are dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: |
Romans 6:9 | Knowing that Christ rising again from the dead, dieth now no more, death shall no more have dominion over him. | knowing that Christ having been raised up from among [the] dead dies no more: death has dominion over him no more. | Knowing that Christ, being raised from the dead, dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. |
Romans 6:10 | For in that he died to sin, he died once; but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God: | For in that he has died, he has died to sin once for all; but in that he lives, he lives to God. | For in that he died, he died to sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth to God. |
Romans 6:11 | So do you also reckon, that you are dead to sin, but alive unto God, in Christ Jesus our Lord. | So also *ye*, reckon yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. | Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God through Jesus Christ our Lord. |
Romans 6:12 | Let no sin therefore reign in your mortal body, so as to obey the lusts thereof. | Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body to obey its lusts. | Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts of it. |
Romans 6:13 | Neither yield ye your members as instruments of iniquity unto sin; but present yourselves to God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of justice unto God. | Neither yield your members instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but yield yourselves to God as alive from among [the] dead, and your members instruments of righteousness to God. | Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin: but yield yourselves to God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God: |
Romans 6:14 | For sin shall not have dominion over you; for you are not under the law, but under grace. | For sin shall not have dominion over *you*, for ye are not under law but under grace. | For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. |
Romans 6:15 | What then? Shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. | What then? should we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Far be the thought. | What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? By no means. |
Romans 6:16 | Know you not, that to whom you yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants you are whom you obey, whether it be of sin unto death, or of obedience unto justice. | Know ye not that to whom ye yield yourselves bondmen for obedience, ye are bondmen to him whom ye obey, whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? | Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants in obedience, his servants ye are whom ye obey; whether of sin to death, or of obedience to righteousness? |
Romans 6:17 | But thanks be to God, that you were the servants of sin, but have obeyed from the heart, unto that form of doctrine, into which you have been delivered. | But thanks [be] to God, that ye were bondmen of sin, but have obeyed from the heart the form of teaching into which ye were instructed. | But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin; but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. |
Romans 6:18 | Being then freed from sin, we have been made servants of justice. | Now, having got your freedom from sin, ye have become bondmen to righteousness. | Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. |
Romans 6:19 | I speak an human thing, because of the infirmity of your flesh. For as you have yielded your members to serve uncleanness and iniquity, unto iniquity; so now yield your members to serve justice, unto sanctification. | I speak humanly on account of the weakness of your flesh. For even as ye have yielded your members in bondage to uncleanness and to lawlessness unto lawlessness, so now yield your members in bondage to righteousness unto holiness. | I speak after the manner of men, because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity, to (work) iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness, to (work) holiness. |
Romans 6:20 | For when you were the servants of sin, you were free men to justice. | For when ye were bondmen of sin ye were free from righteousness. | For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness. |
Romans 6:21 | What fruit therefore had you then in those things, of which you are now ashamed? For the end of them is death. | What fruit therefore had ye *then* in the things of which ye are *now* ashamed? for the end of *them* [is] death. | What fruit had ye then in those things of which ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death. |
Romans 6:22 | But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, you have your fruit unto sanctification, and the end life everlasting. | But *now*, having got your freedom from sin, and having become bondmen to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end eternal life. | But now being made free from sin, and having become servants to God, ye have your fruit to holiness, and the end everlasting life. |
Romans 6:23 | For the wages of sin is death. But the grace of God, life everlasting, in Christ Jesus our Lord. | For the wages of sin [is] death; but the act of favour of God, eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. | For the wages of sin is death: but the gift of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. |
