| Joshua 16:1 | And the lot of the sons of Joseph fell from the Jordan over against Jericho and the waters thereof, on the east: the wilderness which goeth up from Jericho to the mountain of Bethel: | And the lot came forth for the children of Joseph from the Jordan of Jericho as far as the waters of Jericho eastwards, to the wilderness which goes up from Jericho to the hill-country of Bethel. | |
| Joshua 16:2 | And goeth out from Bethel to Luza: and passeth the border of Archi, to Ataroth, | And [the border] went from Bethel to Luz, and passed to the border of the Archites to Ataroth, | |
| Joshua 16:3 | And goeth down westward, by the border of Jephleti, unto the borders of Beth-horon the nether, and to Gazer :and the countries of it are ended by the great sea: | and went down westward to the border of the Japhletites, as far as the border of the lower Beth-horon, and to Gezer; and ended at the sea. | |
| Joshua 16:4 | And Manasses and Ephraim the children of Joseph possessed it. | And the children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, took their inheritance. | |
| Joshua 16:5 | And the border of the children of Ephraim was according to their kindreds: and their possession towards the east was Ataroth-addar unto Beth-horon the upper. | And the border of the children of Ephraim was according to their families; the border of their inheritance eastwards was Ataroth-Addar as far as the upper Beth-horon; | |
| Joshua 16:6 | And the confines go out unto the sea: but Machmethath looketh to the north, and it goeth round the borders eastward into Thanath-selo: and passeth along on the east side to Janoe. | and the border went forth westwards to Micmethath on the north; and the border turned eastwards to Taanath-Shiloh, and passed by it eastwards to Janohah, | |
| Joshua 16:7 | And it goeth down from Janoe into Ataroth and Naaratha: and it cometh to Jericho, and goeth out to the Jordan. | and went down from Janohah to Ataroth and Naarath, and touched upon Jericho, and went out to the Jordan. | |
| Joshua 16:8 | From Taphua it passeth on towards the sea into the valley of reeds, and the goings out thereof are at the most salt sea. This is the possession of the tribe of the children of Ephraim by their families. | From Tappuah the border went westwards to the torrent Kanah, and ended at the sea. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Ephraim according to their families, | |
| Joshua 16:9 | And there were cities with their villages separated for the children of Ephraim in the midst of the possession of the children of Manasses. | with the cities that were set apart for the children of Ephraim in the midst of the inheritance of the children of Manasseh, all the cities and their hamlets. | |
| Joshua 16:10 | And the children of Ephraim slew not the Chanaanite, who dwelt in Gazer: and the Chanaanite dwelt in the midst of Ephraim until this day, paying tribute. | But they did not dispossess the Canaanites that dwelt at Gezer; and the Canaanites dwell in the midst of Ephraim to this day, and serve under tribute. | |
