| Matthew 4:1 | Then Jesus was led by the spirit into the desert, to be tempted by the devil. | Then Jesus was carried up into the wilderness by the Spirit to be tempted of the devil: | At that time Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the Desert in order to be tempted by the Devil. |
| Matthew 4:2 | And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterwards he was hungry. | and having fasted forty days and forty nights, afterwards he hungered. | There He fasted for forty days and nights; and after that He suffered from hunger. |
