Matthew 6:1Take heed that you do not your justice before men, to be seen by them: otherwise you shall not have a reward of your Father who is in heaven.Take heed not to do your alms before men to be seen of them, otherwise ye have no reward with your Father who is in the heavens."Be careful that you don't do your charitable giving before men, to be seen by them, or else you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.
Matthew 6:2Therefore when thou dost an almsdeed, sound not a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be honoured by men. Amen I say to you, they have received their reward.When therefore thou doest alms, sound not a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may have glory from men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.Therefore when you do merciful deeds, don't sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may get glory from men. Most assuredly, I tell you, they have received their reward.
Matthew 6:3But when thou dost alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doth.But thou, when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand does;But when you do merciful deeds, don't let your left hand know what your right hand does,
Matthew 6:4That thy alms may be in secret, and thy Father who seeth in secret will repay thee.so that thine alms may be in secret, and thy Father who sees in secret will render [it] to thee.so that your merciful deeds may be in secret, then your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
Matthew 6:5And when ye pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites, that love to stand and pray in the synagogues and corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men: Amen I say to you, they have received their reward.And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites; for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets so that they should appear to men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward."When you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites, for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Most assuredly, I tell you, they have received their reward.
Matthew 6:6But thou when thou shalt pray, enter into thy chamber, and having shut the door, pray to thy Father in secret: and thy Father who seeth in secret will repay thee.But *thou*, when thou prayest, enter into thy chamber, and having shut thy door, pray to thy Father who is in secret, and thy Father who sees in secret will render [it] to thee.But you, when you pray, enter into your inner chamber, and having shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
Matthew 6:7And when you are praying, speak not much, as the heathens. For they think that in their much speaking they may be heard.But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as those who are of the nations: for they think they shall be heard through their much speaking.In praying, don't use vain repetitions, as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard for their much speaking.
Matthew 6:8Be not you therefore like to them, for your Father knoweth what is needful for you, before you ask him.Be not ye therefore like them, for your Father knows of what things ye have need before ye beg [anything] of him.Therefore don't be like them, for your Father knows what things you need, before you ask him.
Matthew 6:9Thus therefore shall you pray: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.Thus therefore pray *ye*: Our Father who art in the heavens, let thy name be sanctified,Pray like this. 'Our Father, who is in heaven, may your name be kept holy.
Matthew 6:10Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.let thy kingdom come, let thy will be done as in heaven so upon the earth;May your kingdom come. May your will be done, as in heaven, so on earth.
Matthew 6:11Give us this day our supersubstantial bread.give us to-day our needed bread,Give us this day our daily bread.
Matthew 6:12And forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors.and forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors,Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors.
Matthew 6:13And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. Amen.and lead us not into temptation, but save us from evil.Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory forever. Amen.'
Matthew 6:14For if you will forgive men their offences, your heavenly Father will forgive you also your offences.For if ye forgive men their offences, your heavenly Father also will forgive you [yours],For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
Matthew 6:15But if you will not forgive men, neither will your Father forgive you your offences.but if ye do not forgive men their offences, neither will your Father forgive your offences.But if you don't forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Matthew 6:16And when you fast, be not as the hypocrites, sad. For they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Amen I say to you, they have received their reward.And when ye fast, be not as the hypocrites, downcast in countenance; for they disfigure their faces, so that they may appear fasting to men: verily I say unto you, They have their reward."Moreover when you fast, don't be, as the hypocrites, with sad faces. For they disfigure their faces, that they may be seen by men to be fasting. Most assuredly I tell you, they have received their reward.
Matthew 6:17But thou, when thou fastest anoint thy head, and wash thy face;But *thou*, [when] fasting, anoint thy head and wash thy face,But you, when you fast, anoint your head, and wash your face;
Matthew 6:18That thou appear not to men to fast, but to thy Father who is in secret: and thy Father who seeth in secret, will repay thee.so that thou mayest not appear fasting unto men, but to thy Father who is in secret; and thy Father who sees in secret shall render [it] to thee.that you are not seen by men to be fasting, but by your Father who is in secret, and your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you.
Matthew 6:19Lay not up to yourselves treasures on earth: where the rust, and moth consume, and where thieves break through and steal.Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon the earth, where moth and rust spoils, and where thieves dig through and steal;"Don't lay up treasures for yourselves on the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal;
Matthew 6:20But lay up to yourselves treasures in heaven: where neither the rust nor moth doth consume, and where thieves do not break through, nor steal.but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust spoils, and where thieves do not dig through nor steal;but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consume, and where thieves don't break through and steal;
Matthew 6:21For where thy treasure is, there is thy heart also.for where thy treasure is, there will be also thy heart.for where your treasure is, your heart will be there also.
Matthew 6:22The light of thy body is thy eye. If thy eye be single, thy whole body shall be lightsome.The lamp of the body is the eye; if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body will be light:The lamp of the body is the eye: if therefore your eye is sound, your whole body will be full of light.
Matthew 6:23But if thy eye be evil thy whole body shall be darksome. If then the light that is in thee, be darkness: the darkness itself how great shall it be!but if thine eye be wicked, thy whole body will be dark. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great the darkness!But if your eye is evil, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!
Matthew 6:24No man can serve two masters. For either he will hate the one, and love the other: or he will sustain the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and will love the other, or he will hold to the one and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon."No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to one, and despise the other. You can't serve both God and Mammon.
Matthew 6:25Therefore I say to you, be not solicitous for your life, what you shall eat, nor for your body, what you shall put on. Is not the life more than the meat: and the body more than the raiment?For this cause I say unto you, Do not be careful about your life, what ye should eat and what ye should drink; nor for your body what ye should put on. Is not the life more than food, and the body than raiment?Therefore, I tell you, don't be anxious for your life, what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what you will put on. Isn't life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
Matthew 6:26Behold the birds of the air, for they neither sow, nor do they reap, nor gather into barns: and your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are not you of much more value than they?Look at the birds of the heaven, that they sow not, nor reap, nor gather into granaries, and your heavenly Father nourishes them. Are *ye* not much more excellent than they?See the birds of the sky, that they don't sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren't you of much more value than they?
Matthew 6:27And which of you by taking thought, can add to his stature by one cubit?But which of you by carefulness can add to his growth one cubit?Which of you, by being anxious, can add one cubit to the measure of his life?
Matthew 6:28And for raiment why are you solicitous? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they labour not, neither do they spin.And why are ye careful about clothing? Observe with attention the lilies of the field, how they grow: they toil not, neither do they spin;Why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. They don't toil, neither do they spin,
Matthew 6:29But I say to you, that not even Solomon in all his glory was arrayed as one of these.but I say unto you, that not even Solomon in all his glory was clothed as one of these.yet I tell you that even Solomon in all his glory was not dressed like one of these.
Matthew 6:30And if the grass of the field, which is to day, and to morrow is cast into the oven, God doth so clothe: how much more you, O ye of little faith?But if God so clothe the herbage of the field, which is to-day, and to-morrow is cast into [the] oven, will he not much rather you, O [ye] of little faith?But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today exists, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, won't he much more clothe you, you of little faith?
Matthew 6:31Be not solicitous therefore, saying, What shall we eat: or what shall we drink, or wherewith shall we be clothed?Be not therefore careful, saying, What shall we eat? or What shall we drink? or What shall we put on?Therefore don't be anxious, saying, 'What will we eat?', 'What will we drink?' or, 'With what will we be clothed?'
Matthew 6:32For after all these things do the heathens seek. For your Father knoweth that you have need of all these things.for all these things the nations seek after; for your heavenly Father knows that ye have need of all these things.For the Gentiles seek after all these things, for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
Matthew 6:33Seek ye therefore first the kingdom of God, and his justice, and all these things shall be added unto you.But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be added to you.
Matthew 6:34Be not therefore solicitous for to morrow; for the morrow will be solicitous for itself. Sufficient for the day is the evil thereof.Be not careful therefore for the morrow, for the morrow shall be careful about itself. Sufficient to the day [is] its own evil.Therefore don't be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day's own evil is sufficient.
