Matthew 7:2 | For with what judgment you judge, you shall be judged: and with what measure you mete, it shall be measured to you again. | for with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged; and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you. | For with whatever judgment you judge, you will be judged: and with whatever measure you measure, it will be measured to you. |
Matthew 7:3 | Any why seest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye; and seest not the beam that is in thy own eye? | But why lookest thou on the mote that is in the eye of thy brother, but observest not the beam that is in thine eye? | Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but don't consider the beam that is in your own eye? |
Matthew 7:4 | Or how sayest thou to thy brother: Let me cast the mote out of thy eye; and behold a beam is in thy own eye? | Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Allow [me], I will cast out the mote from thine eye; and behold, the beam is in thine eye? | Or how will you tell your brother, 'Let me remove the speck from your eye;' and behold, the beam is in your own eye? |
Matthew 7:5 | Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam in thy own eye, and then shalt thou see to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye. | Hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine eye, and then thou wilt see clearly to cast out the mote out of the eye of thy brother. | You hypocrite! First remove the beam out of your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck out of your brother's eye. |
Matthew 7:6 | Give not that which is holy to dogs; neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest perhaps they trample them under their feet, and turning upon you, they tear you. | Give not that which is holy to the dogs, nor cast your pearls before the swine, lest they trample them with their feet, and turning round rend you. | "Don't give that which is holy to the dogs, neither cast your pearls before the pigs, lest perhaps they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces. |
Matthew 7:7 | Ask, and it shall be given you: seek, and you shall find: knock, and it shall be opened to you. | Ask, and it shall be given to you. Seek, and ye shall find. Knock, and it shall be opened to you. | "Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened to you. |
Matthew 7:8 | For every one that asketh, receiveth: and he that seeketh, findeth: and to him that knocketh, it shall be opened. | For every one that asks receives; and he that seeks finds; and to him that knocks it shall be opened. | For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened. |
Matthew 7:9 | Or what man is there among you, of whom if his son shall ask bread, will he reach him a stone? | Or what man is there of you who, if his son shall ask of him a loaf of bread, will give him a stone; | Or what man is there of you, who, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? |
Matthew 7:10 | Or if he shall ask him a fish, will he reach him a serpent? | and if he ask a fish, will give him a serpent? | Or if he asks for a fish, who will give him a serpent? |
Matthew 7:11 | If you then being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children: how much more will your Father who is in heaven, give good things to them that ask him? | If therefore *ye*, being wicked, know [how] to give good gifts to your children, how much rather shall your Father who is in the heavens give good things to them that ask of him? | If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him! |
Matthew 7:12 | All things therefore whatsoever you would that men should do to you, do you also to them. For this is the law and the prophets. | Therefore all things whatever ye desire that men should do to you, thus do *ye* also do to them; for this is the law and the prophets. | Therefore whatever you desire for men to do to you, you shall also do to them; for this is the law and the prophets. |
Matthew 7:13 | Enter ye in at the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way that leadeth to destruction, and many there are who go in thereat. | Enter in through the narrow gate, for wide the gate and broad the way that leads to destruction, and many are they who enter in through it. | Enter in by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter in by it. |
Matthew 7:14 | How narrow is the gate, and strait is the way that leadeth to life: and few there are that find it! | For narrow the gate and straitened the way that leads to life, and they are few who find it. | How narrow is the gate, and restricted is the way that leads to life! Few are those who find it. |
Matthew 7:15 | Beware of false prophets, who come to you in the clothing of sheep, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. | But beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but within are ravening wolves. | "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves. |
Matthew 7:16 | By their fruits you shall know them. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? | By their fruits ye shall know them. Do [men] gather a bunch of grapes from thorns, or from thistles figs? | By their fruits you will know them. Do you gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles? |
Matthew 7:17 | Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit, and the evil tree bringeth forth evil fruit. | So every good tree produces good fruits, but the worthless tree produces bad fruits. | Even so, every good tree brings forth good fruit; but the corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit. |
Matthew 7:18 | A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can an evil tree bring forth good fruit. | A good tree cannot produce bad fruits, nor a worthless tree produce good fruits. | A good tree can't bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. |
Matthew 7:19 | Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit, shall be cut down, and shall be cast into the fire. | Every tree not producing good fruit is cut down and cast into the fire. | Every tree that doesn't grow good fruit is cut down, and thrown into the fire. |
Matthew 7:20 | Wherefore by their fruits you shall know them. | By their fruits then surely ye shall know them. | Therefore, by their fruits you will know them. |
Matthew 7:21 | Not every one that saith to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven: but he that doth the will of my Father who is in heaven, he shall enter into the kingdom of heaven. | Not every one who says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but he that does the will of my Father who is in the heavens. | Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven; but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. |
Matthew 7:22 | Many will say to me in that day: Lord, Lord, have not we prophesied in thy name, and cast out devils in thy name, and done many miracles in thy name? | Many shall say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied through *thy* name, and through *thy* name cast out demons, and through *thy* name done many works of power? | Many will tell me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, didn't we prophesy by your name, by your name cast out demons, and by your name do many mighty works?' |
Matthew 7:23 | And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity. | and then will I avow unto them, I never knew you. Depart from me, workers of lawlessness. | Then I will tell them, 'I never knew you. Depart from me, you who work iniquity.' |
Matthew 7:24 | Every one therefore that heareth these my words, and doth them, shall be likened to a wise man that built his house upon a rock, | Whoever therefore hears these my words and does them, I will liken him to a prudent man, who built his house upon the rock; | "Everyone therefore who hears these words of mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man, who built his house on a rock. |
Matthew 7:25 | And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and they beat upon that house, and it fell not, for it was founded on a rock. | and the rain came down, and the streams came, and the winds blew and fell upon that house, and it did not fall, for it had been founded upon the rock. | The rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house; and it didn't fall, for it was founded on the rock. |
Matthew 7:26 | And every one that heareth these my words, and doth them not, shall be like a foolish man that built his house upon the sand, | And every one who hears these my words and does not do them, he shall be likened to a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand; | Everyone who hears these words of mine, and doesn't do them will be like a foolish man, who built his house on the sand. |
Matthew 7:27 | And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and they beat upon that house, and it fell, and great was the fall thereof. | and the rain came down, and the streams came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, and it fell, and its fall was great. | The rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house; and it fell and great was its fall." |
Matthew 7:28 | And it came to pass when Jesus had fully ended these words, the people were in admiration at his doctrine. | And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these words, the crowds were astonished at his doctrine, | It happened, when Jesus had finished saying these things, that the multitudes were astonished at his teaching, |
Matthew 7:29 | For he was teaching them as one having power, and not as the scribes and Pharisees. | for he taught them as having authority, and not as their scribes. | for he taught them with authority, and not like the scribes. |
