Genesis 25:1 | And Abraham married another wife, named Cetura: | And Abraham took another wife named Keturah. | And Abraham addeth and taketh a wife, and her name [is] Keturah; |
Genesis 25:2 | Who bore to him Zamran, and Jecsan, and Madan, and Madian, and Jesboc, and Sue. | And she bore him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah. | and she beareth to him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah. |
Genesis 25:3 | Jecsan also begot Saba and Dadan. The children of Dadan were Assurim, and Latusim, and Loomin. | And Jokshan begot Sheba and Dedan; and the sons of Dedan were the Asshurim, and the Letushim, and the Leummim. | And Jokshan hath begotten Sheba and Dedan; and the sons of Dedan were Asshurim, and Letushim, and Leummim; |
Genesis 25:4 | But of Madian was born Epha, and Opher, and Henoch, and Abida, and Eldaa: all these were the children of Cetura. | And the sons of Midian were Ephah, and Epher, and Enoch, and Abida, and Eldaah. All these were sons of Keturah. | and the sons of Midian [are] Ephah, and Epher, and Hanoch, and Abidah, and Eldaah: all these [are] sons of Keturah. |
Genesis 25:5 | And Abraham gave all his possessions to Isaac. | And Abraham gave all that he had to Isaac. | And Abraham giveth all that he hath to Isaac; |
Genesis 25:6 | And to the children of the concubines he gave gifts, and separated them from Isaac his son, while he yet lived, to the east country. | And to the sons of the concubines that Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts, and, while he yet lived, sent them away from Isaac his son, eastward to the east country. | and to the sons of the concubines whom Abraham hath, Abraham hath given gifts, and sendeth them away from Isaac his son (in his being yet alive) eastward, unto the east country. |
Genesis 25:7 | And the days of Abraham's life were a hundred and seventy-five years. | And these are the days of the years of Abraham's life which he lived: a hundred and seventy-five years. | And these [are] the days of the years of the life of Abraham, which he lived, a hundred and seventy and five years; |
Genesis 25:8 | And decaying he died in a good old age, and having lived a long time, and being full of days: and was gathered to his people. | And Abraham expired and died in a good old age, old and full [of days]; and was gathered to his peoples. | and Abraham expireth, and dieth in a good old age, aged and satisfied, and is gathered unto his people. |
Genesis 25:9 | And Isaac and Ismael his sons buried him in the double cave, which was situated in the field of Ephron the son of Seor the Hethite, over against Mambre; | And his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which was opposite to Mamre | And Isaac and Ishmael his sons bury him at the cave of Machpelah, at the field of Ephron, son of Zoar the Hittite, which [is] before Mamre |
Genesis 25:10 | Which he had bought of the children of Heth: there was he buried, and Sara his wife. | the field that Abraham had purchased of the sons of Heth: there was Abraham buried, and Sarah his wife. | the field which Abraham bought from the sons of Heth there hath Abraham been buried, and Sarah his wife. |
Genesis 25:11 | And after his death, God blessed Isaac his son, who dwelt by the well named Of the living and seeing. | And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac. And Isaac dwelt at Beer-lahai-roi. | And it cometh to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blesseth Isaac his son; and Isaac dwelleth by the Well of the Living One, my Beholder. |
Genesis 25:12 | These are the generations of Ismael the son of Abraham, whom Agar the Egyptian, Sara's servant, bore unto him: | And these are the generations of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's bondwoman, bore to Abraham. | And these [are] births of Ishmael, Abraham`s son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah`s handmaid, hath borne to Abraham; |
Genesis 25:13 | And these are the names of his children according to their calling and generations. The firstborn of Ismael was Nabajoth, then Cedar, and Adbeel, and Mabsam. | And these are the names of the sons of Ishmael by their names according to their generations: Nebaioth, the firstborn of Ishmael; and Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam, | and these [are] the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their births: first-born of Ishmael, Nebajoth; and Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam, |
Genesis 25:14 | And Masma, and Duma, and Massa, | and Mishma, and Dumah, and Massa, | and Mishma, and Dumah, and Massa, |
Genesis 25:15 | Hadar, and Thema, and Jethur, and Naphis, and Cedma. | Hadad and Tema, Jetur, Naphish and Kedmah. | Hadar, and Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah: |
Genesis 25:16 | These are the sons of Ismael: and these are their names by their castles and towns, twelve princes of their tribes. | These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, in their hamlets and their encampments twelve princes of their peoples. | these are sons of Ishmael, and these their names, by their villages, and by their towers; twelve princes according to their peoples. |
Genesis 25:17 | And the years of Ismael's life were a hundred and thirty-seven, and decaying he died, and was gathered unto his people. | And these are the years of the life of Ishmael: a hundred and thirty-seven years; and he expired and died, and was gathered to his peoples. | And these [are] the years of the life of Ishmael, a hundred and thirty and seven years; and he expireth, and dieth, and is gathered unto his people; |
Genesis 25:18 | And he dwelt from Hevila as far as Sur, which looketh towards Egypt, to them that go towards the Assyrians. He died in the presence of all his brethren. | And they dwelt from Havilah to Shur, which is opposite to Egypt, as one goes towards Assyria. He settled before the face of all his brethren. | and they tabernacle from Havilah unto Shur, which [is] before Egypt, in [thy] going towards Asshur; in the presence of all his brethren hath he fallen. |
Genesis 25:19 | These also are the generations of Isaac the son of Abraham: Abraham begot Isaac: | And these are the generations of Isaac, Abraham's son. Abraham begot Isaac. | And these [are] births of Isaac, Abraham`s son: Abraham hath begotten Isaac; |
Genesis 25:20 | Who when he was forty years old, took to wife Rebecca the daughter of Bathuel the Syrian of Mesopotamia, sister to Laban. | And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebecca as wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padan-Aram, the sister of Laban the Syrian. | and Isaac is a son of forty years in his taking Rebekah, daughter of Bethuel the Aramaean, from Padan-Aram, sister of Laban the Aramaean, to him for a wife. |
Genesis 25:21 | And Isaac besought the Lord for his wife, because she was barren; and he heard him, and made Rebecca to conceive. | And Isaac entreated Jehovah for his wife, because she was barren; and Jehovah was entreated of him, and Rebecca his wife conceived. | And Isaac maketh entreaty to Jehovah before his wife, for she [is] barren: and Jehovah is entreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceiveth, |
Genesis 25:22 | But the children struggled in her womb: and she said: If it were to be so with me, what need was there to conceive? And she went to consult the Lord. | And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If [it be] so, why am I thus? And she went to inquire of Jehovah. | and the children struggle together within her, and she saith, `If [it is] right why [am] I thus?` and she goeth to seek Jehovah. |
Genesis 25:23 | And he answering said: Two nations are in thy womb, and two peoples shall be divided out of thy womb, and one people shall overcome the other, and the elder shall serve the younger. | And Jehovah said to her, Two nations are in thy womb, And two peoples shall be separated from thy bowels; And one people shall be stronger than the other people, And the elder shall serve the younger. | And Jehovah saith to her, `Two nations [are] in thy womb, and two peoples from thy bowels are parted; and the [one] people than the [other] people is stronger; and the elder doth serve the younger.` |
Genesis 25:24 | And when her time was come to be delivered, behold twins were found in her womb. | And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb. | And her days to bear are fulfilled, and lo, twins [are] in her womb; |
Genesis 25:25 | He that came forth first was red, and hairy like a skin: and his name was called Esau. Immediately the other coming forth, held his brother's foot in his hand, and therefore he was called Jacob. | And the first came out red all over like a hairy garment; and they called his name Esau. | and the first cometh out all red as a hairy robe, and they call his name Esau; |
Genesis 25:26 | Isaac was threescore years old when the children were born unto him. | And after that came his brother out; and his hand took hold of Esau's heel; and his name was called Jacob. And Isaac was sixty years old when they were born. | and afterwards hath his brother come out, and his hand is taking hold on Esau`s heel, and one calleth his name Jacob; and Isaac [is] a son of sixty years in her bearing them. |
Genesis 25:27 | And when they were grown up, Esau became a skillful hunter, and a husbandman, but Jacob a plain man dwelt in tents. | And the boys grew, and Esau became a man skilled in hunting, a man of the field; and Jacob was a homely man, dwelling in tents. | And the youths grew, and Esau is a man acquainted [with] hunting, a man of the field; and Jacob [is] a plain man, inhabiting tents; |
Genesis 25:28 | Isaac loved Esau, because he ate of his hunting: and Rebecca loved Jacob. | And Isaac loved Esau, because venison was to his taste; and Rebecca loved Jacob. | and Isaac loveth Esau, for [his] hunting [is] in his mouth; and Rebekah is loving Jacob. |
Genesis 25:29 | And Jacob boiled Pottage: to whom Esau, coming faint out of the field, | And Jacob had cooked a dish; and Esau came from the field, and he was faint. | And Jacob boileth pottage, and Esau cometh in from the field, and he [is] weary; |
Genesis 25:30 | Said: Give me of this red pottage, for I am exceeding faint. For which reason his name was called Edom. | And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with the red the red thing there, for I am faint. Therefore was his name called Edom. | and Esau saith unto Jacob, `Let me eat, I pray thee, some of this red red thing, for I [am] weary;` therefore hath [one] called his name Edom [Red]; |
Genesis 25:31 | And Jacob said to him: Sell me thy first birthright. | And Jacob said, Sell me now thy birthright. | and Jacob saith, `Sell to-day thy birthright to me.` |
Genesis 25:32 | He answered: Lo I die, what will the first birthright avail me. | And Esau said, Behold, I am going to die, and of what use can the birthright be to me? | And Esau saith, `Lo, I am going to die, and what is this to me birthright?` |
Genesis 25:33 | Jacob said: Swear therefore to me. Esau swore to him, and sold his first birthright. | And Jacob said, Swear unto me now. And he swore unto him, and sold his birthright to Jacob. | and Jacob saith, `Swear to me to-day:` and he sweareth to him, and selleth his birthright to Jacob; |
Genesis 25:34 | And so taking bread and the pottage of lentils, he ate, and drank, and went his way; making little account of having sold his first birthright. | And Jacob gave Esau bread and the dish of lentils; and he ate and drank, and rose up and went away. Thus Esau despised the birthright. | and Jacob hath given to Esau bread and pottage of lentiles, and he eateth, and drinketh, and riseth, and goeth; and Esau despiseth the birthright. |
