John 6:1After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is that of Tiberias.After these things Jesus went away beyond the sea of Galilee, [or] of Tiberias,After these things Jesus went away beyond the sea of Galilee (of Tiberias),
John 6:2And a great multitude followed him, because they saw the miracles which he did on them that were diseased.and a great crowd followed him, because they saw the signs which he wrought upon the sick.and there was following him a great multitude, because they were seeing his signs that he was doing on the ailing;
John 6:3Jesus therefore went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples.And Jesus went up into the mountain, and there sat with his disciples:and Jesus went up to the mount, and he was there sitting with his disciples,
John 6:4Now the pasch, the festival day of the Jews, was near at hand.but the passover, the feast of the Jews, was near.and the passover was nigh, the feast of the Jews.
John 6:5When Jesus therefore had lifted up his eyes, and seen that a very great multitude cometh to him, he said to Philip: Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?Jesus then, lifting up his eyes and seeing that a great crowd is coming to him, says to Philip, Whence shall we buy loaves that these may eat?Jesus then having lifted up [his] eyes and having seen that a great multitude doth come to him, saith unto Philip, `Whence shall we buy loaves, that these may eat?`
John 6:6And this he said to try him; for he himself knew what he would do.But this he said trying him, for he knew what he was going to do.and this he said, trying him, for he himself had known what he was about to do.
John 6:7Philip answered him: Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one may take a little.Philip answered him, Loaves for two hundred denarii are not sufficient for them, that each may have some little [portion].Philip answered him, `Two hundred denaries` worth of loaves are not sufficient to them, that each of them may receive some little;`
John 6:8One of his disciples, Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, saith to him:One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, says to him,one of his disciples Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter saith to him,
John 6:9There is a boy here that hath five barley loaves, and two fishes; but what are these among so many?There is a little boy here who has five barley loaves and two small fishes; but this, what is it for so many?`There is one little lad here who hath five barley loaves, and two fishes, but these what are they to so many?`
John 6:10Then Jesus said: Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. The men therefore sat down, in number about five thousand.[And] Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place: the men therefore sat down, in number about five thousand.And Jesus said, `Make the men to sit down;` and there was much grass in the place, the men then sat down, in number, as it were, five thousand,
John 6:11And Jesus took the loaves: and when he had given thanks, he distributed to them that were set down. In like manner also of the fishes, as much as they would.And Jesus took the loaves, and having given thanks, distributed [them] to those that were set down; and in like manner of the small fishes as much as they would.and Jesus took the loaves, and having given thanks he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to those reclining, in like manner, also of the little fishes as much as they wished.
John 6:12And when they were filled, he said to his disciples: Gather up the fragments that remain, lest they be lost.And when they had been filled, he says to his disciples, Gather together the fragments which are over and above, that nothing may be lost.And when they were filled, he saith to his disciples, `Gather together the broken pieces that are over, that nothing may be lost;`
John 6:13They gathered up therefore, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above to them that had eaten.They gathered [them] therefore together, and filled twelve hand-baskets full of fragments of the five barley loaves, which were over and above to those that had eaten.they gathered together, therefore, and filled twelve hand-baskets with broken pieces, from the five barley loaves that were over to those having eaten.
John 6:14Now those men, when they had seen what a miracle Jesus had done, said: This is of a truth the prophet, that is to come into the world.The men therefore, having seen the sign which Jesus had done, said, This is truly the prophet which is coming into the world.The men, then, having seen the sign that Jesus did, said `This is truly the Prophet, who is coming to the world;`
John 6:15Jesus therefore, when he knew that they would come to take him by force, and make him king, fled again into the mountain himself alone.Jesus therefore knowing that they were going to come and seize him, that they might make [him] king, departed again to the mountain himself alone.Jesus, therefore, having known that they are about to come, and to take him by force that they may make him king, retired again to the mountain himself alone.
John 6:16And when evening was come, his disciples went down to the sea.But when evening was come, his disciples went down to the sea,And when evening came, his disciples went down to the sea,
John 6:17And when they had gone up into a ship, they went over the sea to Capharnaum; and it was now dark, and Jesus was not come unto them.and having gone on board ship, they went over the sea to Capernaum. And it had already become dark, and Jesus had not come to them,and having entered into the boat, they were going over the sea to Capernaum, and darkness had already come, and Jesus had not come unto them,
John 6:18And the sea arose, by reason of a great wind that blew.and the sea was agitated by a strong wind blowing.the sea also a great wind blowing was being raised,
John 6:19When they had rowed therefore about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking upon the sea, and drawing nigh to the ship, and they were afraid.Having rowed then about twenty-five or thirty stadia, they see Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the ship; and they were frightened.having pushed onwards, therefore, about twenty-five or thirty furlongs, they behold Jesus walking on the sea, and coming nigh to the boat, and they were afraid;
John 6:20But he saith to them: It is I; be not afraid.But he says to them, It is I: be not afraid.and he saith to them, `I am [he], be not afraid;`
John 6:21They were willing therefore to take him into the ship; and presently the ship was at the land to which they were going.They were willing therefore to receive him into the ship; and immediately the ship was at the land to which they went.they were willing then to receive him into the boat, and immediately the boat came unto the land to which they were going.
John 6:22The next day, the multitude that stood on the other side of the sea, saw that there was no other ship there but one, and that Jesus had not entered into the ship with his disciples, but that his disciples were gone away alone.On the morrow the crowd which stood on the other side of the sea, having seen that there was no other little ship there except that into which his disciples had got, and that Jesus had not gone with his disciples into the ship, but [that] his disciples had gone away alone;On the morrow, the multitude that was standing on the other side of the sea, having seen that there was no other little boat there except one that into which his disciples entered and that Jesus went not in with his disciples into the little boat, but his disciples went away alone,
John 6:23But other ships came in from Tiberias; nigh unto the place where they had eaten the bread, the Lord giving thanks.(but other little ships out of Tiberias came near to the place where they ate bread after the Lord had given thanks;)(and other little boats came from Tiberias, nigh the place where they did eat the bread, the Lord having given thanks),
John 6:24When therefore the multitude saw that Jesus was not there, nor his disciples, they took shipping, and came to Capharnaum, seeking for Jesus.when therefore the crowd saw that Jesus was not there, nor his disciples, *they* got into the ships, and came to Capernaum, seeking Jesus.when therefore the multitude saw that Jesus is not there, nor his disciples, they also themselves did enter into the boats, and came to Capernaum seeking Jesus;
John 6:25And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him: Rabbi, when camest thou hither?And having found him the other side of the sea, they said to him, Rabbi, when art thou arrived here?and having found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him, `Rabbi, when hast thou come hither?`
John 6:26Jesus answered them, and said: Amen, amen I say to you, you seek me, not because you have seen miracles, but because you did eat of the loaves, and were filled.Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say to you, Ye seek me not because ye have seen signs, but because ye have eaten of the loaves and been filled.Jesus answered them and said, `Verily, verily, I say to you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw signs, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were satisfied;
John 6:27Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that which endureth unto life everlasting, which the Son of man will give you. For him hath God, the Father, sealed.Work not [for] the food which perishes, but [for] the food which abides unto life eternal, which the Son of man shall give to you; for him has the Father sealed, [even] God.work not for the food that is perishing, but for the food that is remaining to life age-during, which the Son of Man will give to you, for him did the Father seal [even] God.`
John 6:28They said therefore unto him: What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?They said therefore to him, What should we do that we may work the works of God?They said therefore unto him, `What may we do that we may work the works of God?`
John 6:29Jesus answered, and said to them: This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he hath sent.Jesus answered and said to them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom *he* has sent.Jesus answered and said to them, `This is the work of God, that ye may believe in him whom He did send.`
John 6:30They said therefore to him: What sign therefore dost thou shew, that we may see, and may believe thee? What dost thou work?They said therefore to him, What sign then doest thou that we may see and believe thee? what dost thou work?They said therefore to him, `What sign, then, dost thou, that we may see and may believe thee? what dost thou work?
John 6:31Our fathers did eat manna in the desert, as it is written: He gave them bread from heaven to eat.Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, as it is written, He gave them bread out of heaven to eat.our fathers the manna did eat in the wilderness, according as it is having been written, Bread out of the heaven He gave them to eat.`
John 6:32Then Jesus said to them: Amen, amen I say to you; Moses gave you not bread from heaven, but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.Jesus therefore said to them, Verily, verily, I say to you, [It is] not Moses that has given you the bread out of heaven; but my Father gives you the true bread out of heaven.Jesus, therefore, said to them, `Verily, verily, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread out of the heaven; but my Father doth give you the true bread out of the heaven;
John 6:33For the bread of God is that which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life to the world.For the bread of God is he who comes down out of heaven and gives life to the world.for the bread of God is that which is coming down out of the heaven, and giving life to the world.`
John 6:34They said therefore unto him: Lord, give us always this bread.They said therefore to him, Lord, ever give to us this bread.They said, therefore, unto him, `Sir, always give us this bread.`
John 6:35And Jesus said to them: I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall not hunger: and he that believeth in me shall never thirst.[And] Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life: he that comes to me shall never hunger, and he that believes on me shall never thirst at any time.And Jesus said to them, `I am the bread of the life; he who is coming unto me may not hunger, and he who is believing in me may not thirst at any time;
John 6:36But I said unto you, that you also have seen me, and you believe not.But I have said to you, that ye have also seen me and do not believe.but I said to you, that ye also have seen me, and ye believe not;
John 6:37All that the Father giveth to me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me, I will not cast out.All that the Father gives me shall come to me, and him that comes to me I will not at all cast out.all that the Father doth give to me will come unto me; and him who is coming unto me, I may in no wise cast without,
John 6:38Because I came down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him that sent me.For I am come down from heaven, not that I should do *my* will, but the will of him that has sent me.because I have come down out of the heaven, not that I may do my will, but the will of Him who sent me.
John 6:39Now this is the will of the Father who sent me: that of all that he hath given me, I should lose nothing; but should raise it up again in the last day.And this is the will of him that has sent me, that of all that he has given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up in the last day.`And this is the will of the Father who sent me, that all that He hath given to me I may not lose of it, but may raise it up in the last day;
John 6:40And this is the will of my Father that sent me: that every one who seeth the Son, and believeth in him, may have life everlasting, and I will raise him up in the last day.For this is the will of my Father, that every one who sees the Son, and believes on him, should have life eternal; and I will raise him up at the last day.and this is the will of Him who sent me, that every one who is beholding the Son, and is believing in him, may have life age-during, and I will raise him up in the last day.`
John 6:41The Jews therefore murmured at him, because he had said: I am the living bread which came down from heaven.The Jews therefore murmured about him, because he said, I am the bread which has come down out of heaven.The Jews, therefore, were murmuring at him, because he said, `I am the bread that came down out of the heaven;`
John 6:42And they said: Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How then saith he, I came down from heaven?And they said, Is not this Jesus the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we have known? how then does *he* say, I am come down out of heaven?and they said, `Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we have known? how then saith this one Out of the heaven I have come down?`
John 6:43Jesus therefore answered, and said to them: Murmur not among yourselves.Jesus therefore answered and said to them, Murmur not among yourselves.Jesus answered, therefore, and said to them, `Murmur not one with another;
John 6:44No man can come to me, except the Father, who hath sent me, draw him; and I will raise him up in the last day.No one can come to me except the Father who has sent me draw him, and I will raise him up in the last day.no one is able to come unto me, if the Father who sent me may not draw him, and I will raise him up in the last day;
John 6:45It is written in the prophets: And they shall all be taught of God. Every one that hath heard of the Father, and hath learned, cometh to me.It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every one that has heard from the Father [himself], and has learned [of him], comes to me;it is having been written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God; every one therefore who heard from the Father, and learned, cometh to me;
John 6:46Not that any man hath seen the Father; but he who is of God, he hath seen the Father.not that any one has seen the Father, except he who is of God, he has seen the Father.not that any one hath seen the Father, except he who is from God, he hath seen the Father.
John 6:47Amen, amen I say unto you: He that believeth in me, hath everlasting life.Verily, verily, I say to you, He that believes [on me] has life eternal.`Verily, verily, I say to you, He who is believing in me, hath life age-during;
John 6:48I am the bread of life.I am the bread of life.I am the bread of the life;
John 6:49Your fathers did eat manna in the desert, and are dead.Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness and died.your fathers did eat the manna in the wilderness, and they died;
John 6:50This is the bread which cometh down from heaven; that if any man eat of it, he may not die.This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, that one may eat of it and not die.this is the bread that out of the heaven is coming down, that any one may eat of it, and not die.
John 6:51I am the living bread which came down from heaven.I am the living bread which has come down out of heaven: if any one shall have eaten of this bread he shall live for ever; but the bread withal which I shall give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.`I am the living bread that came down out of the heaven; if any one may eat of this bread he shall live to the age; and the bread also that I will give is my flesh, that I will give for the life of the world.`
John 6:52If any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever; and the bread that I will give, is my flesh, for the life of the world.The Jews therefore contended among themselves, saying, How can he give us this flesh to eat?The Jews, therefore, were striving with one another, saying, `How is this one able to give us [his] flesh to eat?`
John 6:53The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying: How can this man give us his flesh to eat?Jesus therefore said to them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Unless ye shall have eaten the flesh of the Son of man, and drunk his blood, ye have no life in yourselves.Jesus, therefore, said to them, `Verily, verily, I say to you, If ye may not eat the flesh of the Son of Man, and may not drink his blood, ye have no life in yourselves;
John 6:54Then Jesus said to them: Amen, amen I say unto you: Except you eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, you shall not have life in you.He that eats my flesh and drinks my blood has life eternal, and I will raise him up at the last day:he who is eating my flesh, and is drinking my blood, hath life age-during, and I will raise him up in the last day;
John 6:55He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath everlasting life: and I will raise him up in the last day.for my flesh is truly food and my blood is truly drink.for my flesh truly is food, and my blood truly is drink;
John 6:56For my flesh is meat indeed: and my blood is drink indeed.He that eats my flesh and drinks my blood dwells in me and I in him.he who is eating my flesh, and is drinking my blood, doth remain in me, and I in him.
John 6:57He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, abideth in me, and I in him.As the living Father has sent me and I live on account of the Father, *he* also who eats me shall live also on account of me.`According as the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, he also who is eating me, even that one shall live because of me;
John 6:58As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father; so he that eateth me, the same also shall live by me.This is the bread which has come down out of heaven. Not as the fathers ate and died: he that eats this bread shall live for ever.this is the bread that came down out of the heaven; not as your fathers did eat the manna, and died; he who is eating this bread shall live to the age.`
John 6:59This is the bread that came down from heaven. Not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead. He that eateth this bread, shall live for ever.These things he said in [the] synagogue, teaching in Capernaum.These things he said in a synagogue, teaching in Capernaum;
John 6:60These things he said, teaching in the synagogue, in Capharnaum.Many therefore of his disciples having heard [it] said, This word is hard; who can hear it?many, therefore, of his disciples having heard, said, `This word is hard; who is able to hear it?`
John 6:61Many therefore of his disciples, hearing it, said: This saying is hard, and who can hear it?But Jesus, knowing in himself that his disciples murmur concerning this, said to them, Does this offend you?And Jesus having known in himself that his disciples are murmuring about this, said to them, `Doth this stumble you?
John 6:62But Jesus, knowing in himself, that his disciples murmured at this, said to them: Doth this scandalize you?If then ye see the Son of man ascending up where he was before?if then ye may behold the Son of Man going up where he was before?
John 6:63If then you shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?It is the Spirit which quickens, the flesh profits nothing: the words which I have spoken unto you are spirit and are life.the spirit it is that is giving life; the flesh doth not profit anything; the sayings that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life;
John 6:64It is the spirit that quickeneth: the flesh profiteth nothing. The words that I have spoken to you, are spirit and life.But there are some of you who do not believe. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who would deliver him up.but there are certain of you who do not believe;` for Jesus had known from the beginning who they are who are not believing, and who is he who will deliver him up,
John 6:65But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning, who they were that did not believe, and who he was, that would betray him.And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no one can come to me unless it be given to him from the Father.and he said, `Because of this I have said to you No one is able to come unto me, if it may not have been given him from my Father.`
John 6:66And he said: Therefore did I say to you, that no man can come to me, unless it be given him by my Father.From that [time] many of his disciples went away back and walked no more with him.From this [time] many of his disciples went away backward, and were no more walking with him,
John 6:67After this many of his disciples went back; and walked no more with him.Jesus therefore said to the twelve, Will ye also go away?Jesus, therefore, said to the twelve, `Do ye also wish to go away?`
John 6:68Then Jesus said to the twelve: Will you also go away?Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast words of life eternal;Simon Peter, therefore, answered him, `Sir, unto whom shall we go? thou hast sayings of life age-during;
John 6:69And Simon Peter answered him: Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.and we have believed and known that thou art the holy one of God.and we have believed, and we have known, that thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.`
John 6:70And we have believed and have known, that thou art the Christ, the Son of God.Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you the twelve? and of you one is a devil.Jesus answered them, `Did not I choose you the twelve? and of you one is a devil.
John 6:71Jesus answered them: Have not I chosen you twelve; and one of you is a devil?Now he spoke of Judas [the son] of Simon, Iscariote, for he [it was who] should deliver him up, being one of the twelve.And he spake of Judas, Simon`s [son], Iscariot, for he was about to deliver him up, being one of the twelve.
John 6:72Now he meant Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon: for this same was about to betray him, whereas he was one of the twelve.
