Joshua 14:1 | This is what the children of Israel possessed in the land of Chanaan, which Eleazar the priest, and Josue the son of Nun, and the princes of the families by the tribes of Israel gave to them: | And this is what the children of Israel inherited in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the chief fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel, allotted for inheritance to them: | And these [are] they [of] the sons of Israel who inherited in the land of Canaan, whom Eleazar the priest, and Joshua son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the sons of Israel, caused to inherit; |
Joshua 14:2 | Dividing all by lot, as the Lord had commanded by the hand of Moses, to the nine tribes, and the half tribe. | their inheritance was by lot, as Jehovah had commanded by Moses, for the nine tribes, and the half tribe. | by lot [is] their inheritance, as Jehovah commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine of the tribes, and the half of the tribe; |
Joshua 14:3 | For to two tribes and a half Moses had given possession beyond the Jordan: besides the Levites, who received no land among their brethren: | For Moses had given the inheritance of the two tribes and the half tribe beyond the Jordan, but to the Levites he had given no inheritance among them. | for Moses hath given the inheritance of two of the tribes, and of half of the tribe, beyond the Jordan, and to the Levites he hath not given an inheritance in their midst; |
Joshua 14:4 | But in their place succeeded the children of Joseph divided into two tribes, of Manasses and Ephraim: neither did the Levites receive other portion of land, but cities to dwell in, and their suburbs to feed their beasts and flocks. | For the children of Joseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim; and they gave no part to the Levites in the land, save cities to dwell in, and their suburbs for their cattle and for their substance. | for the sons of Joseph hath been two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim, and they have not given a portion to the Levites in the land, except cities to dwell in, and their suburbs for their cattle, and for their possessions; |
Joshua 14:5 | As the Lord had commanded Moses, so did the children of Israel, and they divided the land. | As Jehovah had commanded Moses, so the children of Israel did, and they divided the land. | as Jehovah commanded Moses, so have the sons of Israel done, and they apportion the land. |
Joshua 14:6 | Then the children of Juda came to Josue in Galgal, and Caleb the son of Jephone the Cenezite spoke to him: Thou knowest what the Lord spoke to Moses the man of God concerning me and thee in Cadesbarne. | Then the children of Judah came near to Joshua in Gilgal, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, Thou knowest the word that Jehovah spoke to Moses the man of God, concerning me and thee, in Kadesh-barnea. | And the sons of Judah come nigh unto Joshua in Gilgal, and Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenezzite saith unto him, `Thou hast known the word that Jehovah hath spoken unto Moses the man of God, concerning me and concerning thee in Kadesh-Barnea: |
Joshua 14:7 | I was forty Bears old when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me m from Cadesbarne, to view the land, and I brought him word again as to me seemed true. | Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of Jehovah sent me from Kadesh-barnea to search out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in my heart. | a son of forty years [am] I in Moses, servant of Jehovah, sending me from Kadesh-Barnea, to spy the land, and I bring him back word as with my heart; |
Joshua 14:8 | But my brethren, that had gone up with me, discouraged the heart of the people: and I nevertheless followed the Lord my God. | And my brethren that had gone up with me made the heart of the people melt; but I wholly followed Jehovah my God. | and my brethren who have gone up with me have caused the heart of the people to melt, and I have been fully after Jehovah my God; |
Joshua 14:9 | And Moses swore in that day, saying: The land which thy foot hath trodden upon shall be thy possession, and thy children's for ever, because thou hast followed the Lord my God. | And Moses swore on that day, saying, The land whereon thy feet have trodden shall assuredly be thine inheritance, and thy children's for ever! for thou hast wholly followed Jehovah my God. | and Moses sweareth in that day, saying, If not the land on which thy foot hath trodden, to thee it is for inheritance, and to thy sons to the age, for thou hast been fully after Jehovah my God. |
Joshua 14:10 | The Lord therefore hath granted me life, as he promised until this present day. It is forty and five years since the Lord spoke this word to Moses, when Israel journeyed through the wilderness: this day I am eighty-five years old, | And now behold, Jehovah has kept me alive, as he said, these forty-five years, since Jehovah spoke this word to Moses, when Israel wandered in the wilderness; and now behold, I am this day eighty-five years old. | `And, now, lo, Jehovah hath kept me alive, as He hath spoken, these forty and five years, since Jehovah spake this word unto Moses, when Israel went in the wilderness; and now, lo, I [am] to-day a son of five and eighty years; |
Joshua 14:11 | As strong as I was at that time when I was sent to view the land : the strength of that time continueth in me until this day, as well to fight as to march. | I am still this day strong, as in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out and to come in. | yet [am] I to-day strong as in the day of Moses` sending me; as my power then, so [is] my power now, for battle, and to go out, and to come in. |
Joshua 14:12 | Give me therefore this mountain, which the Lord promised, in thy hearing also, wherein are the Enacims, and cities great and strong: if so be the Lord will be with me, and I shall be able to destroy them, as he promised me. | And now give me this mountain, of which Jehovah spoke in that day; for thou heardest in that day that Anakim are there, and great fortified cities. If so be Jehovah shall be with me, then I shall dispossess them, as Jehovah said. | `And now, give to me this hill-country, of which Jehovah spake in that day, for thou didst hear in that day, for Anakim [are] there, and cities, great, fenced; if so be Jehovah [is] with me, then I have dispossessed them, as Jehovah hath spoken.` |
Joshua 14:13 | And Josue blessed him, and gave him Hebron in possession. | And Joshua blessed him, and gave Hebron to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for an inheritance. | And Joshua blesseth him, and giveth Hebron to Caleb son of Jephunneh for an inheritance, |
Joshua 14:14 | And from that time Hebron belonged to Caleb the son of Jephone the Cenezite, until this present day: because he followed the Lord the God of Israel. | Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite to this day, because he wholly followed Jehovah the God of Israel. | therefore hath Hebron been to Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenezzite for an inheritance unto this day, because that he was fully after Jehovah, God of Israel; |
Joshua 14:15 | The name of Hebron before was called Cariath-Arbe: Adam the greatest among the Enacims was laid there: and the land rested from wars. | Now the name of Hebron before was Kirjath-Arba; the great man among the Anakim. And the land rested from war. | and the name of Hebron formerly [is] Kirjath-Arba (he [is] the great man among the Anakim); and the land hath rest from war. |
