3rd-John 1:1The ancient to the dearly beloved Gaius, whom I love in truth.The elder unto the wellbeloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth. The elder unto Gaius the beloved, whom I love in truth.
3rd-John 1:2Dearly beloved, concerning all things I make it my prayer that thou mayest proceed prosperously, and fare well as thy soul doth prosperously.Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. Beloved, I pray that in all things thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
3rd-John 1:3I was exceedingly glad when the brethren came and gave testimony to the truth in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth.For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth. For I rejoiced greatly, when brethren came and bare witness unto thy truth, even as thou walkest in truth.
3rd-John 1:4I have no greater grace than this, to hear that my children walk in truth.I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. Greater joy have I none than this, to hear of my children walking in the truth.
3rd-John 1:5Dearly beloved, thou dost faithfully whatever thou dost for the brethren, and that for strangers,Beloved, thou doest faithfully whatsoever thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers; Beloved, thou doest a faithful work in whatsoever thou doest toward them that are brethren and strangers withal;
3rd-John 1:6Who have given testimony to thy charity in the sight of the church: whom thou shalt do well to bring forward on their way in a manner worthy of God.Which have borne witness of thy charity before the church: whom if thou bring forward on their journey after a godly sort, thou shalt do well: who bare witness to thy love before the church: whom thou wilt do well to set forward on their journey worthily of God:
3rd-John 1:7Because, for his name they went out, taking nothing of the Gentiles.Because that for his name's sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles. because that for the sake of the Name they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles.
3rd-John 1:8We therefore ought to receive such, that we may be fellow helpers of the truth.We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellowhelpers to the truth. We therefore ought to welcome such, that we may be fellow-workers for the truth.
3rd-John 1:9I had written perhaps to the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the pre-eminence among them, doth not receive us.I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not. I wrote somewhat unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not.
3rd-John 1:10For this cause, if I come, I will advertise his works which he doth, with malicious words prating against us. And as if these things were not enough for him, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and them that do receive them he forbiddeth, and casteth out of the church.Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church. Therefore, if I come, I will bring to remembrance his works which he doeth, prating against us with wicked words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and them that would he forbiddeth and casteth [them] out of the church.
3rd-John 1:11Dearly beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doth good, is of God: he that doth evil, hath not seen God.Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God. Beloved, imitate not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: he that doeth evil hath not seen God.
3rd-John 1:12To Demetrius testimony is given by all, and by the truth itself, yea and we also give testimony: and thou knowest that our testimony is true.Demetrius hath good report of all men, and of the truth itself: yea, and we also bear record; and ye know that our record is true. Demetrius hath the witness of all [men], and of the truth itself: yea, we also bear witness: and thou knowest that our witness is true.
3rd-John 1:13I had many things to write unto thee: but I would not by ink and pen write to thee.I had many things to write, but I will not with ink and pen write unto thee: I had many things to write unto thee, but I am unwilling to write [them] to thee with ink and pen:
3rd-John 1:14But I hope speedily to see thee, and we will speak mouth to mouth. Peace be to thee. Our friends salute thee. Salute the friends by name.But I trust I shall shortly see thee, and we shall speak face to face. Peace be to thee. Our friends salute thee. Greet the friends by name. but I hope shortly to see thee, and we shall speak face to face. Peace [be] unto thee. The friends salute thee. Salute the friends by name.
