1st-Peter 3:1In like manner also let wives be subject to their husbands: that if any believe not the word, they may be won without the word, by the conversation of the wives.Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives; Wives, be ruled by your husbands; so that even if some of them give no attention to the word, their hearts may be changed by the behaviour of their wives,
1st-Peter 3:2Considering your chaste conversation with fear.While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear. When they see your holy behaviour in the fear of God.
1st-Peter 3:3Whose adorning let it not be the outward plaiting of the hair, or the wearing of gold, or the putting on of apparel:Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; Do not let your ornaments be those of the body such as dressing of the hair, or putting on of jewels of gold or fair clothing;
1st-Peter 3:4But the hidden man of the heart in the incorruptibility of a quiet and a meek spirit, which is rich in the sight of God.But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. But let them be those of the unseen man of the heart, the ever-shining ornament of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great price in the eyes of God.
1st-Peter 3:5For after this manner heretofore the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection to their own husbands:For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands: And these were the ornaments of the holy women of the past, whose hope was in God, being ruled by their husbands:
1st-Peter 3:6As Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters you are, doing well, and not fearing any disturbance.Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement. As Sarah was ruled by Abraham, naming him lord; whose children you are if you do well, and are not put in fear by any danger.
1st-Peter 3:7Ye husbands, likewise dwelling with them according to knowledge, giving honour to the female as to the weaker vessel, and as to the co-heirs of the grace of life: that your prayers be not hindered.Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered. And you husbands, give thought to your way of life with your wives, giving honour to the woman who is the feebler vessel, but who has an equal part in the heritage of the grace of life; so that you may not be kept from prayer.
1st-Peter 3:8And in fine, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, being lovers of the brotherhood, merciful, modest, humble:Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous: Last of all, see that you are all in agreement; feeling for one another, loving one another like brothers, full of pity, without pride:
1st-Peter 3:9Not rendering evil for evil, nor railing for railing, but contrariwise, blessing: for unto this are you called, that you may inherit a blessing.Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing. Not giving back evil for evil, or curse for curse, but in place of cursing, blessing; because this is the purpose of God for you that you may have a heritage of blessing.
1st-Peter 3:10For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile.For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: For it is said, Let the man who has a love of life, desiring to see good days, keep his tongue from evil and his lips from words of deceit:
1st-Peter 3:11Let him decline from evil, and do good: let him seek after peace and pursue it:Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it. And let him be turned from evil and do good; searching for peace and going after it with all his heart.
1st-Peter 3:12Because the eyes of the Lord are upon the just, and his ears unto their prayers: but the countenance of the Lord upon them that do evil things.For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. For the eyes of the Lord are on the upright, and his ears are open to their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.
1st-Peter 3:13And who is he that can hurt you, if you be zealous of good?And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good? Who will do you any damage if you keep your minds fixed on what is good?
1st-Peter 3:14But if also you suffer any thing for justice' sake, blessed are ye. And be not afraid of their fear, and be not troubled.But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled; But you are happy if you undergo pain because of righteousness; have no part in their fear and do not be troubled;
1st-Peter 3:15But sanctify the Lord Christ in your hearts, being ready always to satisfy every one that asketh you a reason of that hope which is in you.But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: But give honour to Christ in your hearts as your Lord; and be ready at any time when you are questioned about the hope which is in you, to give an answer in the fear of the Lord and without pride;
1st-Peter 3:16But with modesty and fear, having a good conscience: that whereas they speak evil of you, they may be ashamed who falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ. Being conscious that you have done no wrong; so that those who say evil things about your good way of life as Christians may be put to shame.
1st-Peter 3:17For it is better doing well (if such be the will of God) to suffer, than doing ill.For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing. Because if it is God's purpose for you to undergo pain, it is better to do so for well-doing than for evil-doing.
1st-Peter 3:18Because Christ also died once for our sins, the just for the unjust: that he might offer us to God, being put to death indeed in the flesh, but enlivened in the spirit,For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: Because Christ once went through pain for sins, the upright one taking the place of sinners, so that through him we might come back to God; being put to death in the flesh, but given life in the Spirit;
1st-Peter 3:19In which also coming he preached to those spirits that were in prison:By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; By whom he went to the spirits in prison, preaching to those
1st-Peter 3:20Which had been some time incredulous, when they waited for the patience of God in the days of Noe, when the ark was a building: wherein a few, that is, eight souls, were saved by water.Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. Who, in the days of Noah, went against God's orders; but God in his mercy kept back the punishment, while Noah got ready the ark, in which a small number, that is to say eight persons, got salvation through water:
1st-Peter 3:21Whereunto baptism being of the like form, now saveth you also: not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the examination of a good conscience towards God by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: And baptism, of which this is an image, now gives you salvation, not by washing clean the flesh, but by making you free from the sense of sin before God, through the coming again of Jesus Christ from the dead;
1st-Peter 3:22Who is on the right hand of God, swallowing down death, that we might be made heirs of life everlasting: being gone into heaven, the angels and powers and virtues being made subject to him.Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him. Who has gone into heaven, and is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers having been put under his rule.
