1st-Samuel 7:1 | And then men of Cariathiarim came and fetched up the ark of the Lord and carried it into the house of Abinadab in Gabaa: and they sanctified Eleazar his son, to keep the ark of the Lord. | And the men of Kirjath-jearim came, and fetched up the ark of the LORD, and brought it into the house of Abinadab in the hill, and sanctified Eleazar his son to keep the ark of the LORD. | So the men of Kiriath-jearim came and took the ark of the Lord to the house of Abinadab in Gibeah, and they made his son Eleazar holy and put the ark in his care. |
1st-Samuel 7:2 | And it came to pass, that from the day the ark of the Lord abode in Cariathiarim days were multiplied, (for it was now the twentieth year,) and all the house of Israel rested following the Lord. | And it came to pass, while the ark abode in Kirjath-jearim, that the time was long; for it was twenty years: and all the house of Israel lamented after the LORD. | And the ark was in Kiriath-jearim for a long time, as much as twenty years: and all Israel was searching after the Lord with weeping. |
1st-Samuel 7:3 | And Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying: If you turn to the Lord with all your heart, put away the strange gods from among you, Baalim and Astaroth: and prepare your hearts unto the Lord, and serve him only, and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines. | And Samuel spake unto all the house of Israel, saying, If ye do return unto the LORD with all your hearts, then put away the strange gods and Ashtaroth from among you, and prepare your hearts unto the LORD, and serve him only: and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines. | Then Samuel said to all Israel, If with all your hearts you would come back to the Lord, then put away all the strange gods and the Astartes from among you, and let your hearts be turned to the Lord, and be servants to him only: and he will make you safe from the hands of the Philistines. |
1st-Samuel 7:4 | Then the children of Israel put away Baalim and Astaroth, and served the Lord only. | Then the children of Israel did put away Baalim and Ashtaroth, and served the LORD only. | So the children of Israel gave up the worship of Baal and Astarte, and became worshippers of the Lord only. |
1st-Samuel 7:5 | And Samuel said: Gather all Israel to Masphath, that I may pray to the Lord for you. | And Samuel said, Gather all Israel to Mizpeh, and I will pray for you unto the LORD. | Then Samuel said, Let all Israel come to Mizpah and I will make prayer to the Lord for you. |
1st-Samuel 7:6 | And they gathered together to Masphath: and they drew water, and poured it out before the Lord, and they fasted on that day, and they said there: We have sinned against the Lord. And Samuel judged the children of Israel in Masphath. | And they gathered together to Mizpeh, and drew water, and poured it out before the LORD, and fasted on that day, and said there, We have sinned against the LORD. And Samuel judged the children of Israel in Mizpeh. | So they came together to Mizpah, and got water, draining it out before the Lord, and they took no food that day, and they said, We have done evil against the Lord. And Samuel was judge of the children of Israel in Mizpah. |
1st-Samuel 7:7 | And the Philistines heard that the children of Israel were gathered together to Masphath, and the lords of the Philistines went up against Israel. And when the children of Israel heard this, they were afraid of the Philistines. | And when the Philistines heard that the children of Israel were gathered together to Mizpeh, the lords of the Philistines went up against Israel. And when the children of Israel heard it, they were afraid of the Philistines. | Now when the Philistines had news that the children of Israel had come together at Mizpah, the lords of the Philistines went up against Israel. And the children of Israel, hearing of it, were full of fear. |
1st-Samuel 7:8 | And they said to Samuel: Cease not to cry to the Lord our God for us, that he may save us out of the hand of the Philistines. | And the children of Israel said to Samuel, Cease not to cry unto the LORD our God for us, that he will save us out of the hand of the Philistines. | And the children of Israel said to Samuel, Go on crying to the Lord our God for us to make us safe from the hands of the Philistines. |
1st-Samuel 7:9 | And Samuel took a sucking lamb, and offered it whole for a holocaust to the Lord: and Samuel cried to the Lord for Israel, and the Lord heard him. | And Samuel took a sucking lamb, and offered it for a burnt offering wholly unto the LORD: and Samuel cried unto the LORD for Israel; and the LORD heard him. | And Samuel took a young lamb, offering all of it as a burned offering to the Lord; and Samuel made prayers to the Lord for Israel and the Lord gave him an answer. |
1st-Samuel 7:10 | And it came to pass, when Samuel was offering the holocaust, the Philistines began the battle against Israel: but the Lord thundered with a great thunder on that day upon the Philistines, and terrified them, and they were overthrown before the face of Israel. | And as Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel: but the LORD thundered with a great thunder on that day upon the Philistines, and discomfited them; and they were smitten before Israel. | And while Samuel was offering the burned offering, the Philistines came near for the attack on Israel; but at the thunder of the Lord's voice that day the Philistines were overcome with fear, and they gave way before Israel. |
1st-Samuel 7:11 | And the men of Israel going out of Masphath pursued after the Philistines, and made slaughter of them till they came under Bethchar. | And the men of Israel went out of Mizpeh, and pursued the Philistines, and smote them, until they came under Beth-car. | And the men of Israel went out from Mizpah and went after the Philistines, attacking them till they came under Beth-car. |
1st-Samuel 7:12 | And Samuel took a stone, and laid it between Masphath and Sen: and he called the place, the Stone of help. And he said: Thus far the Lord hath helped us. | Then Samuel took a stone, and set it between Mizpeh and Shen, and called the name of it Eben-ezer, saying, Hitherto hath the LORD helped us. | Then Samuel took a stone and put it up between Mizpah and Jeshanah, naming it Eben-ezer, and saying, Up to now the Lord has been our help. |
1st-Samuel 7:13 | And the Philistines were humbled, and they did not come any more into the borders of Israel. And the hand of the Lord was against the Philistines, all the days of Samuel. | So the Philistines were subdued, and they came no more into the coast of Israel: and the hand of the LORD was against the Philistines all the days of Samuel. | So the Philistines were overcome, and did not come into the country of Israel again: and all the days of Samuel the hand of the Lord was against the Philistines. |
1st-Samuel 7:14 | And the cities, which the Philistines had taken from Israel, were restored to Israel, from Accaron to Geth, and their borders: and he delivered Israel from the hand of the Philistines, and there was peace between Israel and the Amorrhites. | And the cities which the Philistines had taken from Israel were restored to Israel, from Ekron even unto Gath; and the coasts thereof did Israel deliver out of the hands of the Philistines. And there was peace between Israel and the Amorites. | And the towns which the Philistines had taken were given back to Israel, from Ekron to Gath, and all the country round them Israel made free from the power of the Philistines. And there was peace between Israel and the Amorites. |
1st-Samuel 7:15 | And Samuel judged Israel all the days of his life: | And Samuel judged Israel all the days of his life. | And Samuel was judge of Israel all the days of his life. |
1st-Samuel 7:16 | And he went every year about to Bethel and to Galgal and to Masphath, and he judged Israel in the aforesaid places. | And he went from year to year in circuit to Bethel, and Gilgal, and Mizpeh, and judged Israel in all those places. | From year to year he went in turn to Beth-el and Gilgal and Mizpah, judging Israel in all those places. |
1st-Samuel 7:17 | And he returned to Ramatha, for there was his house, and there he judged Israel: he built also there an altar to the Lord. | And his return was to Ramah; for there was his house; and there he judged Israel; and there he built an altar unto the LORD. | And his base was at Ramah, where his house was; there he was judge of Israel and there he made an altar to the Lord. |
