2nd-Peter 1:1Simon Peter, servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained equal faith with us in the justice of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ.Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ: Simon Peter, a servant and Apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who with us have a part in the same holy faith in the righteousness of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ:
2nd-Peter 1:2Grace to you and peace be accomplished in the knowledge of God and of Christ Jesus our Lord:Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, May grace and peace ever be increasing in you, in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord;
2nd-Peter 1:3As all things of his divine power which appertain to life and godliness, are given us, through the knowledge of him who hath called us by his own proper glory and virtue.According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Because by his power he has given us everything necessary for life and righteousness, through the knowledge of him who has been our guide by his glory and virtue;
2nd-Peter 1:4By whom he hath given us most great and precious promises: that by these you may be made partakers of the divine nature: flying the corruption of that concupiscence which is in the world.Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. And through this he has given us the hope of great rewards highly to be valued; so that by them we might have our part in God's being, and be made free from the destruction which is in the world through the desires of the flesh.
2nd-Peter 1:5And you, employing all care, minister in your faith, virtue; and in virtue, knowledge;And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; So, for this very cause, take every care; joining virtue to faith, and knowledge to virtue,
2nd-Peter 1:6And in knowledge, abstinence; and in abstinence, patience; and in patience, godliness;And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And self-control to knowledge, and a quiet mind to self-control, and fear of God to a quiet mind,
2nd-Peter 1:7And in godliness, love of brotherhood; and in love of brotherhood, charity.And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. And love of the brothers to fear of God, and to love of the brothers, love itself.
2nd-Peter 1:8For if these things be with you and abound, they will make you to be neither empty nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For if you have these things in good measure, they will make you fertile and full of fruit in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2nd-Peter 1:9For he that hath not these things with him, is blind, and groping, having forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. For the man who has not these things is blind, seeing only what is near, having no memory of how he was made clean from his old sins.
2nd-Peter 1:10Wherefore, brethren, labour the more, that by good works you may make sure your calling and election. For doing these things, you shall not sin at any time.Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: For this reason, my brothers, take all the more care to make your selection and approval certain; for if you do these things you will never have a fall:
2nd-Peter 1:11For so an entrance shall be ministered to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. For so the way will be open to you into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
2nd-Peter 1:12For which cause I will begin to put you always in remembrance of these things: though indeed you know them, and are confirmed in the present truth.Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth. For this reason I will be ready at all times to keep your memory of these things awake, though you have the knowledge of them now and are well based in your present faith.
2nd-Peter 1:13But I think it meet as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance.Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance; And it seems right to me, as long as I am in this tent of flesh, to keep your minds awake by working on your memory;
2nd-Peter 1:14Being assured that the laying away of this my tabernacle is at hand, according as our Lord Jesus Christ also hath signified to me.Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me. For I am conscious that in a short time I will have to put off this tent of flesh, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me.
2nd-Peter 1:15And I will endeavour, that you frequently have after my decease, whereby you may keep a memory of these things.Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance. And I will take every care so that you may have a clear memory of these things after my death.
2nd-Peter 1:16For we have not by following artificial fables, made known to you the power, and presence of our Lord Jesus Christ; but we were eyewitnesses of his greatness.For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For when we gave you news of the power and the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, our teaching was not based on stories put together by art, but we were eye-witnesses of his glory.
2nd-Peter 1:17For he received from God the Father, honour and glory: this voice coming down to him from the excellent glory: This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. For God the Father gave him honour and glory, when such a voice came to him out of the great glory, saying, This is my dearly loved Son, with whom I am well pleased.
2nd-Peter 1:18And this voice we heard brought from heaven, when we were with him in the holy mount.And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount. And this voice came from heaven even to our ears, when we were with him on the holy mountain.
2nd-Peter 1:19And we have the more firm prophetical word: whereunto you do well to attend, as to a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: And so the words of the prophets are made more certain; and it is well for you to give attention to them as to a light shining in a dark place, till the dawn comes and the morning star is seen in your hearts;
2nd-Peter 1:20Understanding this first, that no prophecy of scripture is made by private interpretation.Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. Being conscious in the first place that no man by himself may give a special sense to the words of the prophets.
2nd-Peter 1:21For prophecy came not by the will of man at any time: but the holy men of God spoke, inspired by the Holy Ghost.For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. For these words did not ever come through the impulse of men: but the prophets had them from God, being moved by the Holy Spirit.
