| Exodus 23:1 | Thou shalt not receive the voice of a lie: neither shalt thou join thy hand to bear false witness for a wicked person. | Thou shalt not raise a false report: put not thine hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness. | Do not let a false statement go further; do not make an agreement with evil-doers to be a false witness. |

| Exodus 23:3 | Neither shalt thou favour a poor man in judgment. | Neither shalt thou countenance a poor man in his cause. | But, on the other hand, do not be turned from what is right in order to give support to a poor man's cause. |

In like manner thou shalt deal with thy vineyard, and with thy oliveyard. | But in the seventh year let the land have a rest and be unplanted; so that the poor may have food from it: and let the beasts of the field take the rest. Do the same with your vine-gardens and your olive-trees. |
