Ephesians 5:1Be ye therefore followers of God, as most dear children;Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; Be ye therefore imitators of God, as beloved children,
Ephesians 5:2And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath delivered himself for us, an oblation and a sacrifice to God for an odour of sweetness.And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. and walk in love, even as the Christ loved us, and delivered himself up for us, an offering and sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling savour.
Ephesians 5:3But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not so much as be named among you, as becometh saints:But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; But fornication and all uncleanness or unbridled lust, let it not be even named among you, as it becomes saints;
Ephesians 5:4Or obscenity, or foolish talking, or scurrility, which is to no purpose; but rather giving of thanks.Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. and filthiness and foolish talking, or jesting, which are not convenient; but rather thanksgiving.
Ephesians 5:5For know you this and understand, that no fornicator, or unclean, or covetous person (which is a serving of idols), hath inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. For this ye are [well] informed of, knowing that no fornicator, or unclean person, or person of unbridled lust, who is an idolater, has inheritance in the kingdom of the Christ and God.
Ephesians 5:6Let no man deceive you with vain words. For because of these things cometh the anger of God upon the children of unbelief.Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Let no one deceive you with vain words, for on account of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.
Ephesians 5:7Be ye not therefore partakers with them.Be not ye therefore partakers with them. Be not ye therefore fellow-partakers with them;
Ephesians 5:8For you were heretofore darkness, but now light in the Lord. Walk then as children of the light.For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: for ye were once darkness, but now light in [the] Lord; walk as children of light,
Ephesians 5:9For the fruit of the light is in all goodness, and justice, and truth;(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) (for the fruit of the light [is] in all goodness and righteousness and truth,)
Ephesians 5:10Proving what is well pleasing to God:Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. proving what is agreeable to the Lord;
Ephesians 5:11And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. and do not have fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather also reprove [them],
Ephesians 5:12For the things that are done by them in secret, it is a shame even to speak of.For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. for the things that are done by them in secret it is shameful even to say.
Ephesians 5:13But all things that are reproved, are made manifest by the light; for all that is made manifest is light.But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. But all things having their true character exposed by the light are made manifest; for that which makes everything manifest is light.
Ephesians 5:14Wherefore he saith: Rise thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead: and Christ shall enlighten thee.Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. Wherefore he says, Wake up, [thou] that sleepest, and arise up from among the dead, and the Christ shall shine upon thee.
Ephesians 5:15See therefore, brethren, how you walk circumspectly: not as unwise,See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, See therefore how ye walk carefully, not as unwise but as wise,
Ephesians 5:16But as wise: redeeming the time, because the days are evil.Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
Ephesians 5:17Wherefore become not unwise, but understanding what is the will of God.Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. For this reason be not foolish, but understanding what [is] the will of the Lord.
Ephesians 5:18And be not drunk with wine, wherein is luxury; but be ye filled with the holy Spirit,And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; And be not drunk with wine, in which is debauchery; but be filled with the Spirit,
Ephesians 5:19Speaking to yourselves in psalms, and hymns, and spiritual canticles, singing and making melody in your hearts to the Lord;Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and chanting with your heart to the Lord;
Ephesians 5:20Giving thanks always for all things, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to God and the Father:Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; giving thanks at all times for all things to him [who is] God and [the] Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Ephesians 5:21Being subject one to another, in the fear of Christ.Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. submitting yourselves to one another in [the] fear of Christ.
Ephesians 5:22Let women be subject to their husbands, as to the Lord:Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. Wives, [submit yourselves] to your own husbands, as to the Lord,
Ephesians 5:23Because the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ is the head of the church. He is the saviour of his body.For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. for a husband is head of the wife, as also the Christ [is] head of the assembly. *He* [is] Saviour of the body.
Ephesians 5:24Therefore as the church is subject to Christ, so also let the wives be to their husbands in all things.Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. But even as the assembly is subjected to the Christ, so also wives to their own husbands in everything.
Ephesians 5:25Husbands, love your wives, as Christ also loved the church, and delivered himself up for it:Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; Husbands, love your own wives, even as the Christ also loved the assembly, and has delivered himself up for it,
Ephesians 5:26That he might sanctify it, cleansing it by the laver of water in the word of life:That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, in order that he might sanctify it, purifying [it] by the washing of water by [the] word,
Ephesians 5:27That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle, or any; such thing; but that it should be holy, and without blemish.That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. that *he* might present the assembly to himself glorious, having no spot, or wrinkle, or any of such things; but that it might be holy and blameless.
Ephesians 5:28So also ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife, loveth himself.So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. So ought men also to love their own wives as their own bodies: he that loves his own wife loves himself.
Ephesians 5:29For no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, as also Christ doth the church:For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: For no one has ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, even as also the Christ the assembly:
Ephesians 5:30Because we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. for we are members of his body; [we are of his flesh, and of his bones.]
Ephesians 5:31For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife, and they shall be two in one flesh.For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. Because of this a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall be united to his wife, and the two shall be one flesh.
Ephesians 5:32This is a great sacrament; but I speak in Christ and in the church.This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. This mystery is great, but *I* speak as to Christ, and as to the assembly.
Ephesians 5:33Nevertheless let every one of you in particular love his wife as himself: and let the wife fear her husband.Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband. But *ye* also, every one of you, let each so love his own wife as himself; but as to the wife [I speak] that she may fear the husband.
