John 6:1After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is that of Tiberias. After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias. After these things Jesus went away beyond the sea of Galilee, [or] of Tiberias,
John 6:2And a great multitude followed him, because they saw the miracles which he did on them that were diseased. And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased. and a great crowd followed him, because they saw the signs which he wrought upon the sick.
John 6:3Jesus therefore went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples. And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples. And Jesus went up into the mountain, and there sat with his disciples:
John 6:4Now the pasch, the festival day of the Jews, was near at hand. And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh. but the passover, the feast of the Jews, was near.
John 6:5When Jesus therefore had lifted up his eyes, and seen that a very great multitude cometh to him, he said to Philip: Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat? When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat? Jesus then, lifting up his eyes and seeing that a great crowd is coming to him, says to Philip, Whence shall we buy loaves that these may eat?
John 6:6And this he said to try him; for he himself knew what he would do.And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do. But this he said trying him, for he knew what he was going to do.
John 6:7Philip answered him: Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one may take a little.Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little. Philip answered him, Loaves for two hundred denarii are not sufficient for them, that each may have some little [portion].
John 6:8One of his disciples, Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, saith to him:One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him, One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, says to him,
John 6:9There is a boy here that hath five barley loaves, and two fishes; but what are these among so many? There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many? There is a little boy here who has five barley loaves and two small fishes; but this, what is it for so many?
John 6:10Then Jesus said: Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. The men therefore sat down, in number about five thousand. And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. [And] Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place: the men therefore sat down, in number about five thousand.
John 6:11And Jesus took the loaves: and when he had given thanks, he distributed to them that were set down. In like manner also of the fishes, as much as they would. And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would. And Jesus took the loaves, and having given thanks, distributed [them] to those that were set down; and in like manner of the small fishes as much as they would.
John 6:12And when they were filled, he said to his disciples: Gather up the fragments that remain, lest they be lost. When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost. And when they had been filled, he says to his disciples, Gather together the fragments which are over and above, that nothing may be lost.
John 6:13They gathered up therefore, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above to them that had eaten. Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten. They gathered [them] therefore together, and filled twelve hand-baskets full of fragments of the five barley loaves, which were over and above to those that had eaten.
John 6:14Now those men, when they had seen what a miracle Jesus had done, said: This is of a truth the prophet, that is to come into the world. Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world. The men therefore, having seen the sign which Jesus had done, said, This is truly the prophet which is coming into the world.
John 6:15Jesus therefore, when he knew that they would come to take him by force, and make him king, fled again into the mountain himself alone. When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone. Jesus therefore knowing that they were going to come and seize him, that they might make [him] king, departed again to the mountain himself alone.
John 6:16And when evening was come, his disciples went down to the sea.And when even was now come, his disciples went down unto the sea, But when evening was come, his disciples went down to the sea,
John 6:17And when they had gone up into a ship, they went over the sea to Capharnaum; and it was now dark, and Jesus was not come unto them. And entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them. and having gone on board ship, they went over the sea to Capernaum. And it had already become dark, and Jesus had not come to them,
John 6:18And the sea arose, by reason of a great wind that blew. And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew. and the sea was agitated by a strong wind blowing.
John 6:19When they had rowed therefore about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking upon the sea, and drawing nigh to the ship, and they were afraid. So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid. Having rowed then about twenty-five or thirty stadia, they see Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the ship; and they were frightened.
John 6:20But he saith to them: It is I; be not afraid. But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid. But he says to them, It is I: be not afraid.
John 6:21They were willing therefore to take him into the ship; and presently the ship was at the land to which they were going. Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went. They were willing therefore to receive him into the ship; and immediately the ship was at the land to which they went.
John 6:22The next day, the multitude that stood on the other side of the sea, saw that there was no other ship there but one, and that Jesus had not entered into the ship with his disciples, but that his disciples were gone away alone.The day following, when the people which stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was none other boat there, save that one whereinto his disciples were entered, and that Jesus went not with his disciples into the boat, but that his disciples were gone away alone; On the morrow the crowd which stood on the other side of the sea, having seen that there was no other little ship there except that into which his disciples had got, and that Jesus had not gone with his disciples into the ship, but [that] his disciples had gone away alone;
John 6:23But other ships came in from Tiberias; nigh unto the place where they had eaten the bread, the Lord giving thanks.(Howbeit there came other boats from Tiberias nigh unto the place where they did eat bread, after that the Lord had given thanks:) (but other little ships out of Tiberias came near to the place where they ate bread after the Lord had given thanks;)
John 6:24When therefore the multitude saw that Jesus was not there, nor his disciples, they took shipping, and came to Capharnaum, seeking for Jesus. When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus. when therefore the crowd saw that Jesus was not there, nor his disciples, *they* got into the ships, and came to Capernaum, seeking Jesus.
John 6:25And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him: Rabbi, when camest thou hither? And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither? And having found him the other side of the sea, they said to him, Rabbi, when art thou arrived here?
John 6:26Jesus answered them, and said: Amen, amen I say to you, you seek me, not because you have seen miracles, but because you did eat of the loaves, and were filled.Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled. Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say to you, Ye seek me not because ye have seen signs, but because ye have eaten of the loaves and been filled.
John 6:27Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that which endureth unto life everlasting, which the Son of man will give you. For him hath God, the Father, sealed.Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed. Work not [for] the food which perishes, but [for] the food which abides unto life eternal, which the Son of man shall give to you; for him has the Father sealed, [even] God.
John 6:28They said therefore unto him: What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? They said therefore to him, What should we do that we may work the works of God?
John 6:29Jesus answered, and said to them: This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he hath sent.Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. Jesus answered and said to them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom *he* has sent.
John 6:30They said therefore to him: What sign therefore dost thou shew, that we may see, and may believe thee? What dost thou work? They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work? They said therefore to him, What sign then doest thou that we may see and believe thee? what dost thou work?
John 6:31Our fathers did eat manna in the desert, as it is written: He gave them bread from heaven to eat.Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat. Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, as it is written, He gave them bread out of heaven to eat.
John 6:32Then Jesus said to them: Amen, amen I say to you; Moses gave you not bread from heaven, but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. Jesus therefore said to them, Verily, verily, I say to you, [It is] not Moses that has given you the bread out of heaven; but my Father gives you the true bread out of heaven.
John 6:33For the bread of God is that which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life to the world. For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. For the bread of God is he who comes down out of heaven and gives life to the world.
John 6:34They said therefore unto him: Lord, give us always this bread. Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. They said therefore to him, Lord, ever give to us this bread.
John 6:35And Jesus said to them: I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall not hunger: and he that believeth in me shall never thirst. And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. [And] Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life: he that comes to me shall never hunger, and he that believes on me shall never thirst at any time.
John 6:36But I said unto you, that you also have seen me, and you believe not.But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not. But I have said to you, that ye have also seen me and do not believe.
John 6:37All that the Father giveth to me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me, I will not cast out.All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. All that the Father gives me shall come to me, and him that comes to me I will not at all cast out.
John 6:38Because I came down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him that sent me.For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. For I am come down from heaven, not that I should do *my* will, but the will of him that has sent me.
John 6:39Now this is the will of the Father who sent me: that of all that he hath given me, I should lose nothing; but should raise it up again in the last day.And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. And this is the will of him that has sent me, that of all that he has given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up in the last day.
John 6:40And this is the will of my Father that sent me: that every one who seeth the Son, and believeth in him, may have life everlasting, and I will raise him up in the last day.And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. For this is the will of my Father, that every one who sees the Son, and believes on him, should have life eternal; and I will raise him up at the last day.
John 6:41The Jews therefore murmured at him, because he had said: I am the living bread which came down from heaven. The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven. The Jews therefore murmured about him, because he said, I am the bread which has come down out of heaven.
John 6:42And they said: Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How then saith he, I came down from heaven? And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven? And they said, Is not this Jesus the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we have known? how then does *he* say, I am come down out of heaven?
John 6:43Jesus therefore answered, and said to them: Murmur not among yourselves.Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves. Jesus therefore answered and said to them, Murmur not among yourselves.
John 6:44No man can come to me, except the Father, who hath sent me, draw him; and I will raise him up in the last day.No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. No one can come to me except the Father who has sent me draw him, and I will raise him up in the last day.
John 6:45It is written in the prophets: And they shall all be taught of God. Every one that hath heard of the Father, and hath learned, cometh to me.It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me. It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every one that has heard from the Father [himself], and has learned [of him], comes to me;
John 6:46Not that any man hath seen the Father; but he who is of God, he hath seen the Father. Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father. not that any one has seen the Father, except he who is of God, he has seen the Father.
John 6:47Amen, amen I say unto you: He that believeth in me, hath everlasting life.Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. Verily, verily, I say to you, He that believes [on me] has life eternal.
John 6:48I am the bread of life.I am that bread of life. I am the bread of life.
John 6:49Your fathers did eat manna in the desert, and are dead.Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness and died.
John 6:50This is the bread which cometh down from heaven; that if any man eat of it, he may not die. This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, that one may eat of it and not die.
John 6:51I am the living bread which came down from heaven.I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. I am the living bread which has come down out of heaven: if any one shall have eaten of this bread he shall live for ever; but the bread withal which I shall give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
John 6:52If any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever; and the bread that I will give, is my flesh, for the life of the world. The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat? The Jews therefore contended among themselves, saying, How can he give us this flesh to eat?
John 6:53The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying: How can this man give us his flesh to eat? Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. Jesus therefore said to them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Unless ye shall have eaten the flesh of the Son of man, and drunk his blood, ye have no life in yourselves.
John 6:54Then Jesus said to them: Amen, amen I say unto you: Except you eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, you shall not have life in you.Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. He that eats my flesh and drinks my blood has life eternal, and I will raise him up at the last day:
John 6:55He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath everlasting life: and I will raise him up in the last day.For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. for my flesh is truly food and my blood is truly drink.
John 6:56For my flesh is meat indeed: and my blood is drink indeed. He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. He that eats my flesh and drinks my blood dwells in me and I in him.
John 6:57He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, abideth in me, and I in him.As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. As the living Father has sent me and I live on account of the Father, *he* also who eats me shall live also on account of me.
John 6:58As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father; so he that eateth me, the same also shall live by me.This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever. This is the bread which has come down out of heaven. Not as the fathers ate and died: he that eats this bread shall live for ever.
John 6:59This is the bread that came down from heaven. Not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead. He that eateth this bread, shall live for ever. These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum. These things he said in [the] synagogue, teaching in Capernaum.
John 6:60These things he said, teaching in the synagogue, in Capharnaum. Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it? Many therefore of his disciples having heard [it] said, This word is hard; who can hear it?
John 6:61Many therefore of his disciples, hearing it, said: This saying is hard, and who can hear it?When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you? But Jesus, knowing in himself that his disciples murmur concerning this, said to them, Does this offend you?
John 6:62But Jesus, knowing in himself, that his disciples murmured at this, said to them: Doth this scandalize you? What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? If then ye see the Son of man ascending up where he was before?
John 6:63If then you shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. It is the Spirit which quickens, the flesh profits nothing: the words which I have spoken unto you are spirit and are life.
John 6:64It is the spirit that quickeneth: the flesh profiteth nothing. The words that I have spoken to you, are spirit and life. But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him. But there are some of you who do not believe. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who would deliver him up.
John 6:65But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning, who they were that did not believe, and who he was, that would betray him.And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father. And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no one can come to me unless it be given to him from the Father.
John 6:66And he said: Therefore did I say to you, that no man can come to me, unless it be given him by my Father. From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. From that [time] many of his disciples went away back and walked no more with him.
John 6:67After this many of his disciples went back; and walked no more with him. Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? Jesus therefore said to the twelve, Will ye also go away?
John 6:68Then Jesus said to the twelve: Will you also go away?Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast words of life eternal;
John 6:69And Simon Peter answered him: Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God. and we have believed and known that thou art the holy one of God.
John 6:70And we have believed and have known, that thou art the Christ, the Son of God.Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil? Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you the twelve? and of you one is a devil.
John 6:71Jesus answered them: Have not I chosen you twelve; and one of you is a devil? He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve. Now he spoke of Judas [the son] of Simon, Iscariote, for he [it was who] should deliver him up, being one of the twelve.
John 6:72Now he meant Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon: for this same was about to betray him, whereas he was one of the twelve.
