Matthew 15:1Then came to him from Jerusalem scribes and Pharisees, saying:Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying, Then the scribes and Pharisees from Jerusalem come up to Jesus, saying,
Matthew 15:2Why do thy disciples trangress the tradition of the ancients? For they wash not their hands when they eat bread.Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread. Why do thy disciples transgress what has been delivered by the ancients? for they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.
Matthew 15:3But he answering, said to them: Why do you also transgress the commandment of God for your tradition? For God said:But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? But he answering said to them, Why do *ye* also transgress the commandment of God on account of your traditional teaching?
Matthew 15:4Honour thy father and mother: And: He that shall curse father or mother, let him die the death.For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death. For God commanded saying, Honour father and mother; and, He that speaks ill of father or mother, let him die the death.
Matthew 15:5But you say: Whosoever shall say to father or mother, The gift whatsoever proceedeth from me, shall profit thee.But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; But *ye* say, Whosoever shall say to his father or mother, It is a gift, whatsoever [it be] by which [received] from me thou wouldest be profited:
Matthew 15:6And he shall not honour his father or his mother: and you have made void the commandment of God for your tradition.And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition. and he shall in no wise honour his father or his mother; and ye have made void the commandment of God on account of your traditional teaching.
Matthew 15:7Hypocrites, well hath Isaias prophesied of you, saying:Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, Hypocrites! well has Esaias prophesied about you, saying,
Matthew 15:8This people honoureth me with their lips: but their heart is far from me.This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. This people honour me with the lips, but their heart is far away from me;
Matthew 15:9And in vain do they worship me, teaching doctrines and commandments of men.But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. but in vain do they worship me, teaching [as] teachings commandments of men.
Matthew 15:10And having called together the multitudes unto him, he said to them: Hear ye and understand.And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand: And having called to [him] the crowd, he said to them, Hear and understand:
Matthew 15:11Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man: but what cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man. Not what enters into the mouth defiles the man; but what goes forth out of the mouth, this defiles the man.
Matthew 15:12Then came his disciples, and said to him: Dost thou know that the Pharisees, when they heard this word, were scandalized?Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying? Then his disciples, coming up, said to him, Dost thou know that the Pharisees, having heard this word, have been offended?
Matthew 15:13But he answering them, said: Every plant which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up. But he answering said, Every plant which my heavenly Father has not planted shall be rooted up.
Matthew 15:14Let them alone: they are blind, and leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into the pit.Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch. Leave them alone; they are blind leaders of blind: but if blind lead blind, both will fall into a ditch.
Matthew 15:15And Peter answering, said to him: Expound to us this parable.Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable. And Peter answering said to him, Expound to us this parable.
Matthew 15:16But he said: Are you also yet without understanding?And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding? But he said, Are *ye* also still without intelligence?
Matthew 15:17Do you not understand, that whatsoever entereth into the mouth, goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the privy?Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught? Do ye not yet apprehend, that everything that enters into the mouth finds its way into the belly, and is cast forth into the draught?
Matthew 15:18But the things which proceed out of the mouth, come forth from the heart, and those things defile a man.But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. but the things which go forth out of the mouth come out of the heart, and those defile man.
Matthew 15:19For from the heart come forth evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false testimonies, blasphemies.For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: For out of the heart come forth evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witnessings, blasphemies;
Matthew 15:20These are the things that defile a man. But to eat with unwashed hands doth not defile a man.These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man. these are the things which defile man; but the eating with unwashen hands does not defile man.
Matthew 15:21And Jesus went from thence, and retired into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon. And Jesus, going forth from thence, went away into the parts of Tyre and Sidon;
Matthew 15:22And behold a woman of Canaan who came out of those coasts, crying out, said to him: Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David: my daughter is grieviously troubled by the devil.And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. and lo, a Canaanitish woman, coming out from those borders, cried [to him] saying, Have pity on me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is miserably possessed by a demon.
Matthew 15:23Who answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying: Send her away, for she crieth after us:But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. But he did not answer her a word. And his disciples came to [him] and asked him, saying, Dismiss her, for she cries after us.
Matthew 15:24And he answering, said: I was not sent but to the sheep that are lost of the house of Israel.But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. But he answering said, I have not been sent save to the lost sheep of Israel's house.
Matthew 15:25But she came and adored him, saying: Lord, help me.Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. But she came and did him homage, saying, Lord, help me.
Matthew 15:26Who answering, said: It is not good to take the bread of the children, and to cast it to the dogs.But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs. But he answering said, It is not well to take the bread of the children and cast it to the dogs.
Matthew 15:27But she said: Yea, Lord; for the whelps also eat of the crumbs that fall from the table of their masters.And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table. But she said, Yea, Lord; for even the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from the table of their masters.
Matthew 15:28Then Jesus answering, said to her: O woman, great is thy faith: be it done to thee as thou wilt: and her daughter was cured from that hour.Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour. Then Jesus answering said to her, O woman, thy faith [is] great. Be it to thee as thou desirest. And her daughter was healed from *that* hour.
Matthew 15:29And when Jesus had passed away from thence, he came nigh the sea of Galilee. And going up into a mountain, he sat there.And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there. And Jesus, going away from thence, came towards the sea of Galilee, and he went up into the mountain and sat down there;
Matthew 15:30And there came to him great multitudes, having with them the dumb, the blind, the lame, the maimed, and many others: and they cast them down at his feet, and he healed them:And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them: and great crowds came to him, having with them lame, blind, dumb, crippled, and many others, and they cast them at his feet, and he healed them:
Matthew 15:31So that the multitudes marvelled seeing the dumb speak, the lame walk, and the blind see: and they glorified the God of Israel.Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel. so that the crowds wondered, seeing dumb speaking, crippled sound, lame walking, and blind seeing; and they glorified the God of Israel.
Matthew 15:32And Jesus called together his disciples, and said: I have compassion on the multitudes, because they continue with me now three days, and have not what to eat, and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way. But Jesus, having called his disciples to [him], said, I have compassion on the crowd, because they have stayed with me already three days and they have not anything they can eat, and I would not send them away fasting lest they should faint on the way.
Matthew 15:33And the disciples say unto him: Whence then should we have so many loaves in the desert, as to fill so great a multitude?And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude? And his disciples say to him, Whence should we have so many loaves in [the] wilderness as to satisfy so great a crowd?
Matthew 15:34And Jesus said to them: How many loaves have you? But they said: Seven, and a few little fishes.And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes. And Jesus says to them, How many loaves have ye? But they said, Seven, and a few small fishes.
Matthew 15:35And he commanded the multitude to sit down upon the ground.And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground. And he commanded the crowds to lie down on the ground;
Matthew 15:36And taking the seven loaves and the fishes, and giving thanks, he brake, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the people.And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. and having taken the seven loaves and the fishes, having given thanks, he broke [them] and gave [them] to his disciples, and the disciples to the crowd.
Matthew 15:37And they did all eat, and had their fill. And they took up seven baskets full, of what remained of the fragments.And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full. And all ate and were filled; and they took up what was over and above of the fragments seven baskets full;
Matthew 15:38And they that did eat, were four thousand men, beside children and women.And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children. but they that ate were four thousand men, besides women and children.
Matthew 15:39And having dismissed the multitude, he went up into a boat, and came into the coasts of Magedan.And he sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the coasts of Magdala. And, having dismissed the crowds, he went on board ship and came to the borders of Magadan.
