Matthew 5:3Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed [are] the poor in spirit, for *theirs* is the kingdom of the heavens.
Matthew 5:4Blessed are the meek: for they shall possess the land.Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Blessed they that mourn, for *they* shall be comforted.
Matthew 5:5Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed the meek, for *they* shall inherit the earth.

Matthew 5:10Blessed are they that suffer persecution for justice' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed they who are persecuted on account of righteousness, for *theirs* is the kingdom of the heavens.
Matthew 5:11Blessed are ye when they shall revile you, and persecute you, and speak all that is evil against you, untruly, for my sake:Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Blessed are ye when they may reproach and persecute you, and say every wicked thing against you, lying, for my sake.
Matthew 5:12Be glad and rejoice, for your reward is very great in heaven. For so they persecuted the prophets that were before you.Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. Rejoice and exult, for your reward is great in the heavens; for thus have they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Matthew 5:13You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt lose its savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is good for nothing any more but to be cast out, and to be trodden on by men.Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. *Ye* are the salt of the earth; but if the salt have become insipid, wherewith shall it be salted? It is no longer fit for anything but to be cast out and to be trodden under foot by men.
Matthew 5:14You are the light of the world. A city seated on a mountain cannot be hid.Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. *Ye* are the light of the world: a city situated on the top of a mountain cannot be hid.
Matthew 5:15Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but upon a candlestick, that it may shine to all that are in the house.Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Nor do [men] light a lamp and put it under the bushel, but upon the lamp-stand, and it shines for all who are in the house.
Matthew 5:16So let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Let your light thus shine before men, so that they may see your upright works, and glorify your Father who is in the heavens.
Matthew 5:17Do not think that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets. I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. Think not that I am come to make void the law or the prophets; I am not come to make void, but to fulfil.
Matthew 5:18For amen I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot, or one tittle shall not pass of the law, till all be fulfilled.For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. For verily I say unto you, Until the heaven and the earth pass away, one iota or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law till all come to pass.
Matthew 5:19He therefore that shall break one of these least commandments, and shall so teach men, shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven. But he that shall do and teach, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever then shall do away with one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of the heavens; but whosoever shall practise and teach [them], *he* shall be called great in the kingdom of the heavens.
Matthew 5:20For I tell you, that unless your justice abound more than that of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. For I say unto you, that unless your righteousness surpass [that] of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of the heavens.
Matthew 5:21You have heard that it was said to them of old: Thou shalt not kill. And whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment.Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: Ye have heard that it was said to the ancients, Thou shalt not kill; but whosoever shall kill shall be subject to the judgment.
Matthew 5:22But I say to you, that whosoever is angry with his brother, shall be in danger of the judgment. And whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council. And whosoever shall say, Thou Fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. But *I* say unto you, that every one that is lightly angry with his brother shall be subject to the judgment; but whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be subject to [be called before] the sanhedrim; but whosoever shall say, Fool, shall be subject to the penalty of the hell of fire.
Matthew 5:23If therefore thou offer thy gift at the altar, and there thou remember that thy brother hath any thing against thee;Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; If therefore thou shouldest offer thy gift at the altar, and there shouldest remember that thy brother has something against thee,

Matthew 5:25Be at agreement with thy adversary betimes, whilst thou art in the way with him: lest perhaps the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison. Make friends with thine adverse party quickly, whilst thou art in the way with him; lest some time the adverse party deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.
Matthew 5:26Amen I say to thee, thou shalt not go out from thence till thou repay the last farthing.Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing. Verily I say to thee, Thou shalt in no wise come out thence till thou hast paid the last farthing.
Matthew 5:27You have heard that it was said to them of old: Thou shalt not commit adultery.Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: Ye have heard that it has been said, Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Matthew 5:28But I say to you, that whosoever shall look on a woman to lust after her, hath already committed adultery with her in his heart.But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. But *I* say unto you, that every one who looks upon a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Matthew 5:29And if thy right eye scandalize thee, pluck it out and cast it from thee. For it is expedient for thee that one of thy members should perish, rather than that thy whole body be cast into hell.And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. But if thy right eye be a snare to thee, pluck it out and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members perish, and not thy whole body be cast into hell.

Matthew 5:32But I say to you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, excepting for the cause of fornication, maketh her to commit adultery: and he that shall marry her that is put away, committeth adultery.But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. But *I* say unto you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, except for cause of fornication, makes her commit adultery, and whosoever marries one that is put away commits adultery.
Matthew 5:33Again you have heard that it was said to them of old, Thou shalt not forswear thyself: but thou shalt perform thy oaths to the Lord.Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths: Again, ye have heard that it has been said to the ancients, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt render to the Lord what thou hast sworn.
Matthew 5:34But I say to you not to swear at all, neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God:But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne: But *I* say unto you, Do not swear at all; neither by the heaven, because it is [the] throne of God;
Matthew 5:35Nor by the earth, for it is his footstool: nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great king:Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. nor by the earth, because it is [the] footstool of his feet; nor by Jerusalem, because it is [the] city of the great King.

Matthew 5:38You have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: Ye have heard that it has been said, Eye for eye and tooth for tooth.
Matthew 5:39But I say to you not to resist evil: but if one strike thee on thy right cheek, turn to him also the other:But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. But *I* say unto you, not to resist evil; but whoever shall strike thee on thy right cheek, turn to him also the other;
Matthew 5:40And if a man will contend with thee in judgment, and take away thy coat, let go thy cloak also unto him.And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also. and to him that would go to law with thee and take thy body coat, leave him thy cloak also.
Matthew 5:41And whosoever will force thee one mile, go with him other two,And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. And whoever will compel thee to go one mile, go with him two.
Matthew 5:42Give to him that asketh of thee and from him that would borrow of thee turn not away.Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away. To him that asks of thee give, and from him that desires to borrow of thee turn not away.
Matthew 5:43You have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thy enemy.Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. Ye have heard that it has been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour and hate thine enemy.
Matthew 5:44But I say to you, Love your enemies: do good to them that hate you: and pray for them that persecute and calumniate you:But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; But *I* say unto you, Love your enemies, [bless those who curse you,] do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who [insult you and] persecute you,
Matthew 5:45That you may be the children of your Father who is in heaven, who maketh his sun to rise upon the good, and bad, and raineth upon the just and the unjust.That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. that ye may be [the] sons of your Father who is in [the] heavens; for he makes his sun rise on evil and good, and sends rain on just and unjust.
Matthew 5:46For if you love them that love you, what reward shall you have? do not even the publicans this?For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? For if ye should love those who love you, what reward have ye? Do not also the tax-gatherers the same?
Matthew 5:47And if you salute your brethren only, what do you more? do not also the heathens this?And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? And if ye should salute your brethren only, what do ye extraordinary? Do not also the Gentiles the same?
Matthew 5:48Be you therefore perfect, as also your heavenly Father is perfect.Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. Be *ye* therefore perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect.
