2nd-Corinthians 3:1 | Do we begin again to commend ourselves? Or do we need (as some do) epistles of commendation to you, or from you? | Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you? | Are we beginning again to commend ourselves? Or do we need, as do some, letters of commendation to you or from you? |
2nd-Corinthians 3:2 | You are our epistle, written in our hearts, which is known and read by all men: | Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: | You are our letter, written in our hearts, known and read by all men; |
2nd-Corinthians 3:3 | Being manifested, that you are the epistle of Christ, ministered by us, and written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in the fleshly tables of the heart. | Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart. | being revealed that you are a letter of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tablets of stone, but in tablets that are hearts of flesh. |
2nd-Corinthians 3:4 | And such confidence we have, through Christ, towards God. | And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward: | Such confidence we have through Christ toward God; |
2nd-Corinthians 3:5 | Not that we are sufficient to think any thing of ourselves, as of ourselves: but our sufficiency is from God. | Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; | not that we are sufficient of ourselves, to account anything as from ourselves; but our sufficiency is from God; |
2nd-Corinthians 3:6 | Who also hath made us fit ministers of the new testament, not in the letter, but in the spirit. For the letter killeth, but the spirit quickeneth. | Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. | who also made us sufficient as servants of a new covenant; not of the letter, but of the spirit. For the letter kills, but the spirit gives life. |
2nd-Corinthians 3:7 | Now if the ministration of death, engraven with letters upon stones, was glorious; so that the children of Israel could not steadfastly behold the face of Moses, for the glory of his countenance, which is made void: | But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away: | But if the service of death, written engraved on stones, came with glory, so that the children of Israel could not look steadfastly on the face of Moses for the glory of his face; which was passing away: |
2nd-Corinthians 3:8 | How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather in glory? | How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious? | won't rather service of the spirit be rather with more glory? |
2nd-Corinthians 3:9 | For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more the ministration of justice aboundeth in glory. | For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory. | For if the service of condemnation has glory, much rather does the service of righteousness exceed in glory. |
2nd-Corinthians 3:10 | For even that which was glorious in this part was not glorified, by reason of the glory that excelleth. | For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth. | For most assuredly that which has been made glorious has not been made glorious in this respect, by reason of the glory that surpasses. |
2nd-Corinthians 3:11 | For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is in glory. | For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious. | For if that which passes away was with glory, much more that which remains is in glory. |
2nd-Corinthians 3:12 | Having therefore such hope, we use much confidence: | Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech: | Having therefore such a hope, we use great boldness of speech, |
2nd-Corinthians 3:13 | And not as Moses put a veil upon his face, that the children of Israel might not steadfastly look on the face of that which is made void. | And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: | and not as Moses, who put a veil on his face, that the children of Israel wouldn't look steadfastly on the end of that which was passing away. |
2nd-Corinthians 3:14 | But their senses were made dull. For, until this present day, the selfsame veil, in the reading of the old testament, remaineth not taken away (because in Christ it is made void). | But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. | But their minds were hardened, for until this very day at the reading of the old covenant the same veil remains, because in Christ in passes away. |
2nd-Corinthians 3:15 | But even until this day, when Moses is read, the veil is upon their heart. | But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. | But to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. |
2nd-Corinthians 3:16 | But when they shall be converted to the Lord, the veil shall be taken away. | Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away. | But whenever one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. |
2nd-Corinthians 3:17 | Now the Lord is a Spirit. And where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. | Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. | Now the Lord is the Spirita and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. |
2nd-Corinthians 3:18 | But we all beholding the glory of the Lord with open face, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, as by the Spirit of the Lord. | But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. | But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord, the Spirit. |
