John 7:1After these things Jesus walked in Galilee; for he would not walk in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill him.After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him. After these things, Jesus walked in Galilee, for he would not walk in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill him.
John 7:2Now the Jews' feast of tabernacles was at hand.Now the Jews' feast of tabernacles was at hand. Now the feast of the Jews, the Feast of Booths, was at hand.
John 7:3And his brethren said to him: Pass from hence, and go into Judea; that thy disciples also may see thy works which thou dost.His brethren therefore said unto him, Depart hence, and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest. His brothers therefore said to him, "Depart from here, and go into Judea, that your disciples also may see your works which you do.
John 7:4For there is no man that doth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou do these things, manifest thyself to the world.For there is no man that doeth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou do these things, shew thyself to the world. For no man does anything in secret, and himself seeks to be known openly. If you do these things, reveal yourself to the world."
John 7:5For neither did his brethren believe in him.For neither did his brethren believe in him. For even his brothers didn't believe in him.
John 7:6Then Jesus said to them: My time is not yet come; but your time is always ready.Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is alway ready. Jesus therefore said to them, "My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready.
John 7:7The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth: because I give testimony of it, that the works thereof are evil.The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil. The world can't hate you, but it hates me, because I testify about it, that its works are evil.
John 7:8Go you up to this festival day, but I go not up to this festival day: because my time is not accomplished.Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast; for my time is not yet full come. You go up to the feast. I am not yet going up to this feast, because my time is not yet fulfilled."
John 7:9When he had said these things, he himself stayed in Galilee.When he had said these words unto them, he abode still in Galilee. Having said these things to them, he stayed in Galilee.
John 7:10But after his brethren were gone up, then he also went up to the feast, not openly, but, as it were, in secret.But when his brethren were gone up, then went he also up unto the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret. But when his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not publicly, but as it were in secret.
John 7:11The Jews therefore sought him on the festival day, and said: Where is he?Then the Jews sought him at the feast, and said, Where is he? The Jews therefore sought him at the feast, and said, "Where is he?"
John 7:12And there was much murmuring among the multitude concerning him. For some said: He is a good man. And others said: No, but he seduceth the people.And there was much murmuring among the people concerning him: for some said, He is a good man: others said, Nay; but he deceiveth the people. There was much murmuring among the multitudes concerning him. Some said, "He is a good man." Others said, "Not so, but he leads the multitude astray."
John 7:13Yet no man spoke openly of him, for fear of the Jews.Howbeit no man spake openly of him for fear of the Jews. Yet no one spoke openly of him for fear of the Jews.
John 7:14Now about the midst of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple, and taught.Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught. But when it was now the midst of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple and taught.
John 7:15And the Jews wondered, saying: How doth this man know letters, having never learned?And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned? The Jews therefore marveled, saying, "How does this man know letters, having never been educated?"
John 7:16Jesus answered them, and said: My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. Jesus therefore answered them, "My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me.
John 7:17If any man do the will of him; he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself. If anyone desires to do his will, he will know of the teaching, whether it is from God, or if I speak from myself.
John 7:18He that speaketh of himself, seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh the glory of him that sent him, he is true, and there is no injustice in him.He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him. He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory, but he who seeks the glory of him who sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.
John 7:19Did Moses not give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law?Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me? Didn't Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keeps the law? Why do you seek to kill me?"
John 7:20Why seek you to kill me? The multitude answered, and said: Thou hast a devil; who seeketh to kill thee?The people answered and said, Thou hast a devil: who goeth about to kill thee? The multitude answered, "You have a demon! Who seeks to kill you?"
John 7:21Jesus answered, and said to them: One work I have done; and you all wonder:Jesus answered and said unto them, I have done one work, and ye all marvel. Jesus answered them, "I did one work, and you all marvel because of it.
John 7:22Therefore, Moses gave you circumcision (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers;) and on the sabbath day you circumcise a man.Moses therefore gave unto you circumcision; (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers;) and ye on the sabbath day circumcise a man. Moses has given you circumcision (not that it is of Moses, but of the fathers), and on the Sabbath you circumcise a boy.
John 7:23If a man receive circumcision on the sabbath day, that the law of Moses may not be broken; are you angry at me because I have healed the whole man on the sabbath day?If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day? If a boy receives circumcision on the Sabbath, that the law of Moses may not be broken, are you angry with me, because I made a man every bit whole on the Sabbath?
John 7:24Judge not according to the appearance, but judge just judgment.Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment. Don't judge according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment."
John 7:25Some therefore of Jerusalem said: Is not this he whom they seek to kill?Then said some of them of Jerusalem, Is not this he, whom they seek to kill? Some therefore of them of Jerusalem said, "Isn't this he whom they seek to kill?
John 7:26And behold, he speaketh openly, and they say nothing to him. Have the rulers known for a truth, that this is the Christ?But, lo, he speaketh boldly, and they say nothing unto him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is the very Christ? Behold, he speaks openly, and they say nothing to him. Can it be that the rulers indeed know that this is truly the Christ?
John 7:27But we know this man, whence he is: but when the Christ cometh, no man knoweth whence he is.Howbeit we know this man whence he is: but when Christ cometh, no man knoweth whence he is. However we know where this man comes from, but when the Christ comes, no one will know where he comes from."
John 7:28Jesus therefore cried out in the temple, teaching, and saying: You both know me, and you know whence I am: and I am not come of myself; but he that sent me, is true, whom you know not.Then cried Jesus in the temple as he taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am: and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not. Jesus therefore cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, "You both know me, and know where I am from. I have not come of myself, but he who sent me is true, whom you don't know.
John 7:29I know him, because I am from him, and he hath sent me.But I know him: for I am from him, and he hath sent me. I know him, because I am from him, and he sent me."
John 7:30They sought therefore to apprehend him: and no man laid hands on him, because his hour was not yet come.Then they sought to take him: but no man laid hands on him, because his hour was not yet come. They sought therefore to take him. No one laid a hand on him, because his hour was not yet come.
John 7:31But of the people many believed in him, and said: When the Christ cometh, shall he do more miracles, than these which this man doth?And many of the people believed on him, and said, When Christ cometh, will he do more miracles than these which this man hath done? But of the multitude, many believed in him. They said, "When the Christ comes, will he do more signs than those which this man has done?"
John 7:32The Pharisees heard the people murmuring these things concerning him: and the rulers and Pharisees sent ministers to apprehend him.The Pharisees heard that the people murmured such things concerning him; and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take him. The Pharisees heard the multitude murmuring these things concerning him, and the chief priests and the Pharisees sent officers to take him.
John 7:33Jesus therefore said to them: Yet a little while I am with you: and then I go to him that sent me.Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me. Then Jesus said, "Yet a little while, am I with you, then I go to him who sent me.
John 7:34You shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither you cannot come.Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come. You will seek me, and won't find me; and where I am, you can't come."
John 7:35The Jews therefore said among themselves: Whither will he go, that we shall not find him? will he go unto the dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles?Then said the Jews among themselves, Whither will he go, that we shall not find him? will he go unto the dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles? The Jews therefore said among themselves, "Where will this man go that we won't find him? Will he go to the Dispersion among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks?
John 7:36What is this saying that he hath said: You shall seek me, and shall not find me; and where I am, you cannot come?What manner of saying is this that he said, Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come? What is this word that he said, 'You will seek me, and won't find me; and where I am, you can't come?'"
John 7:37And on the last, and great day of the festivity, Jesus stood and cried, saying: If any man thirst, let him come to me, and drink.In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. Now on the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink!
John 7:38He that believeth in me, as the scripture saith, Out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. He who believes in me, as the scripture has said, from within him will flow rivers of living water."
John 7:39Now this he said of the Spirit which they should receive, who believed in him: for as yet the Spirit was not given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) But he said this about the Spirit, which those believing in him were to receive. For the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus wasn't yet glorified.
John 7:40Of that multitude therefore, when they had heard these words of his, some said: This is the prophet indeed.Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet. Many of the multitude therefore, when they heard these words, said, "This is truly the prophet."
John 7:41Others said: This is the Christ. But some said: Doth the Christ come out of Galilee?Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall Christ come out of Galilee? Others said, "This is the Christ." But some said, "What, does the Christ come out of Galilee?
John 7:42Doth not the scripture say: That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and from Bethlehem the town where David was?Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was? Hasn't the scripture said that the Christ comes of the seed of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?"
John 7:43So there arose a dissension among the people because of him.So there was a division among the people because of him. So there arose a division in the multitude because of him.
John 7:44And some of them would have apprehended him: but no man laid hands on him.And some of them would have taken him; but no man laid hands on him. Some of them would have taken him, but no one laid hands on him.
John 7:45The ministers therefore came to the chief priests and the Pharisees. And they said to them: Why have you not brought him?Then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said unto them, Why have ye not brought him? The officers therefore came to the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, "Why didn't you bring him?"
John 7:46The ministers answered: Never did man speak like this man.The officers answered, Never man spake like this man. The officers answered, "No man ever spoke like this man!"
John 7:47The Pharisees therefore answered them: Are you also seduced?Then answered them the Pharisees, Are ye also deceived? The Pharisees therefore answered them, "Are you also led astray?
John 7:48Hath any one of the rulers believed in him, or of the Pharisees?Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed on him? Has any of the rulers believed in him, or of the Pharisees?
John 7:49But this multitude, that knoweth not the law, are accursed.But this people who knoweth not the law are cursed. But this cursed multitude doesn't know the law."
John 7:50Nicodemus said to them, (he that came to him by night, who was one of them:)Nicodemus saith unto them, (he that came to Jesus by night, being one of them,) Nicodemus (he who came to him by night, being one of them) said to them,
John 7:51Doth our law judge any man, unless it first hear him, and know what he doth?Doth our law judge any man, before it hear him, and know what he doeth? "Does our law judge a man, unless it first hears from him personally and knows what he does?"
John 7:52They answered, and said to him: Art thou also a Galilean? Search the scriptures, and see, that out of Galilee a prophet riseth not.They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search, and look: for out of Galilee ariseth no prophet. They answered him, "Are you also from Galilee? Search, and see that no prophet has arisen out of Galilee."
John 7:53And every man returned to his own house.And every man went unto his own house. Everyone went to his own house,
