Leviticus 11:1And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying:And the LORD spake unto Moses and to Aaron, saying unto them, Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying to them,
Leviticus 11:2Say to the children of Israel: These are the animals which you are to eat of all the living things of the earth.Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, These are the beasts which ye shall eat among all the beasts that are on the earth. Speak to the children of Israel, saying, These are the living things which you may eat among all the animals that are on the earth.
Leviticus 11:3Whatsoever hath the hoof divided, and cheweth the cud among the beasts, you shall eat.Whatsoever parteth the hoof, and is clovenfooted, and cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that shall ye eat. Whatever parts the hoof, and is cloven-footed, [and] chews the cud, among the animals, that may you eat.
Leviticus 11:4But whatsoever cheweth indeed the cud, and hath a hoof, but divideth it not, as the camel, and others, that you shall not eat, but shall reckon it among the unclean.Nevertheless these shall ye not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the hoof: as the camel, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you. Nevertheless these shall you not eat of them that chew the cud, or of those who part the hoof: the camel, because he chews the cud but doesn't have a parted hoof, he is unclean to you.
Leviticus 11:5The cherogrillus which cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof, is unclean.And the coney, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you. The rabbit, because he chews the cud but doesn't have a parted the hoof, he is unclean to you.
Leviticus 11:6The hare also: for that too cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof.And the hare, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you. The hare, because she chews the cud but doesn't part the hoof, she is unclean to you.
Leviticus 11:7And the swine, which, though it divideth the hoof, cheweth not the cud.And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be clovenfooted, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you. The pig, because he doesn't part the hoof, and is cloven-footed, but doesn't chew the cud, he is unclean to you.
Leviticus 11:8The flesh of these you shall not eat, nor shall you touch their carcasses, because they are unclean to you.Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch; they are unclean to you. Of their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall not touch; they are unclean to you.
Leviticus 11:9These are the things that breed in the waters, and which it is lawful to eat. All that hath fins, and scales, as well in the sea, as in the rivers, and the pools, you shall eat.These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat. These may you eat of all that are in the waters: whatever has fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, that may you eat.
Leviticus 11:10But whatsoever hath not fins and scales, of those things that move and live in the waters, shall be an abomination to you,And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you: All that don't have fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of all the living creatures that are in the waters, they are an abomination to you,
Leviticus 11:11And detestable : their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall avoid.They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination. and they shall be an abomination to you; you shall not eat of their flesh, and their carcasses you shall have in abomination.
Leviticus 11:12All that have not fins and scales, in the waters, shall be unclean.Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you. Whatever has no fins nor scales in the waters, that is an abomination to you.
Leviticus 11:13Of birds these are they which you must not eat, and which are to be avoided by you: The eagle, and the griffon, and the osprey,And these are they which ye shall have in abomination among the fowls; they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray, These you shall have in abomination among the birds; they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, and the gier-eagle, and the ospray,
Leviticus 11:14And the kite, and the vulture, according to their kind,And the vulture, and the kite after his kind; and the kite, and the falcon after its kind,
Leviticus 11:15And all that is of the raven kind, according to their likeness.Every raven after his kind; every raven after its kind,
Leviticus 11:16The ostrich, and the owl, and the larus, and the hawk according to its kind.And the owl, and the night hawk, and the cuckow, and the hawk after his kind, and the ostrich, and the night-hawk, and the seamew, and the hawk after its kind,
Leviticus 11:17The screech owl, and the cormorant, and the ibis,And the little owl, and the cormorant, and the great owl, and the little owl, and the cormorant, and the great owl,
Leviticus 11:18And the swan, and the bittern, and the porphyrion,And the swan, and the pelican, and the gier eagle, and the horned owl, and the pelican, and the vulture,
Leviticus 11:19The heron, and the charadrion according to its kind, the houp also, and the bat.And the stork, the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat. and the stork, the heron after its kind, and the hoopoe, and the bat.
Leviticus 11:20Of things that fly, whatsoever goeth upon four feet, shall be abominable to you.All fowls that creep, going upon all four, shall be an abomination unto you. All winged creeping things that go on all fours are an abomination to you.
Leviticus 11:21But whatsoever walketh upon four feet, but hath the legs behind longer, wherewith it hoppeth upon the earth,Yet these may ye eat of every flying creeping thing that goeth upon all four, which have legs above their feet, to leap withal upon the earth; Yet these may you eat of all winged creeping things that go on all fours, which have legs above their feet, with which to leap on the earth.
Leviticus 11:22That you shall eat, as the bruchus in its kind, the attacus, and ophiomachus, and the locust, every one according to their kind.Even these of them ye may eat; the locust after his kind, and the bald locust after his kind, and the beetle after his kind, and the grasshopper after his kind. Even these of them you may eat: the locust after its kind, and the bald locust after its kind, and the cricket after its kind, and the grasshopper after its kind.
Leviticus 11:23But of dying things whatsoever hath four feet only, shall be an abomination to you:But all other flying creeping things, which have four feet, shall be an abomination unto you. But all winged creeping things, which have four feet, are an abomination to you.
Leviticus 11:24And whosoever shall touch the carcasses of them, shall be defiled, and shall be unclean until the evening:And for these ye shall be unclean: whosoever toucheth the carcase of them shall be unclean until the even. By these you shall become unclean: whoever touches the carcass of them shall be unclean until the even;
Leviticus 11:25And if it be necessary that he carry any of these things when they are dead, he shall wash his clothes, and shall be unclean until the sun set.And whosoever beareth ought of the carcase of them shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even. Whoever bears [anything] of the carcass of them shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even.
Leviticus 11:26Every beast that hath a hoof, but divideth it not, nor cheweth the cud, shall be unclean: and he that toucheth it, shall be defiled.The carcases of every beast which divideth the hoof, and is not clovenfooted, nor cheweth the cud, are unclean unto you: every one that toucheth them shall be unclean. Every animal which parts the hoof, and is not cloven-footed, nor chews the cud, is unclean to you: everyone who touches them shall be unclean.
Leviticus 11:27That which walketh upon hands of all animals which go on all four, shall be unclean: he that shall touch their carcasses shall be defiled until evening.And whatsoever goeth upon his paws, among all manner of beasts that go on all four, those are unclean unto you: whoso toucheth their carcase shall be unclean until the even. Whatever goes on its paws, among all animals that go on all fours, they are unclean to you: whoever touches their carcass shall be unclean until the even.
Leviticus 11:28And he that shall carry such carcasses, shall wash his clothes, and shall be unclean until evening: because all these things are unclean to you.And he that beareth the carcase of them shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: they are unclean unto you. He who bears the carcass of them shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: they are unclean to you.
Leviticus 11:29These also shall be reckoned among unclean things, of all that move upon the earth, the weasel, and the mouse, and the crocodile, every one according to their kind:These also shall be unclean unto you among the creeping things that creep upon the earth; the weasel, and the mouse, and the tortoise after his kind, These are they which are unclean to you among the creeping things that creep on the earth: the weasel, and the mouse, and the great lizard after its kind,
Leviticus 11:30The shrew, and the chameleon, and the stello, and the lizard, and the mole:And the ferret, and the chameleon, and the lizard, and the snail, and the mole. and the gecko, and the land-crocodile, and the lizard, and the sand-lizard, and the chameleon.
Leviticus 11:3131All these are unclean. He that toucheth their carcasses shall be unclean until the evening.These are unclean to you among all that creep: whosoever doth touch them, when they be dead, shall be unclean until the even. These are they which are unclean to you among all that creep: whoever does touch them, when they are dead, shall be unclean until the even.
Leviticus 11:32And upon what thing soever any of their carcasses shall fall, it shall be defiled, whether it be a vessel of wood, or a garment, or skins or haircloths; or any thing in which work is done, they shall be dipped in water, and shall be unclean until the evening, and so afterwards shall be clean.And upon whatsoever any of them, when they are dead, doth fall, it shall be unclean; whether it be any vessel of wood, or raiment, or skin, or sack, whatsoever vessel it be, wherein any work is done, it must be put into water, and it shall be unclean until the even; so it shall be cleansed. On whatever any of them, when they are dead, does fall, it shall be unclean; whether it be any vessel of wood, or clothing, or skin, or sack, whatever vessel it be, with which any work is done, it must be put into water, and it shall be unclean until the even; then shall it be clean.
Leviticus 11:33But an earthen vessel, into which any of these shall fall, shall be defiled, and therefore is to be broken.And every earthen vessel, whereinto any of them falleth, whatsoever is in it shall be unclean; and ye shall break it. Every earthen vessel, into which any of them falls, whatever is in it shall be unclean, and it you shall break.
Leviticus 11:34Any meat which you eat, if water from such a vessel be poured upon it, shall be unclean; and every liquor that is drunk out of any such vessel, shall be unclean.Of all meat which may be eaten, that on which such water cometh shall be unclean: and all drink that may be drunk in every such vessel shall be unclean. All food [therein] which may be eaten, that on which water comes, shall be unclean; and all drink that may be drunk in every [such] vessel shall be unclean.
Leviticus 11:35And upon whatsoever thing any of these dead beasts shall fall, it shall be unclean: whether it be oven, or pots with feet, they shall be destroyed, and shall be unclean.And every thing whereupon any part of their carcase falleth shall be unclean; whether it be oven, or ranges for pots, they shall be broken down: for they are unclean, and shall be unclean unto you. Every thing whereupon [any part] of their carcass falls shall be unclean; whether oven, or range for pots, it shall be broken in pieces: they are unclean, and shall be unclean to you.
Leviticus 11:36But fountains and cisterns, and all gatherings together of waters shall be clean. He that toucheth their carcasses shall be defiled.Nevertheless a fountain or pit, wherein there is plenty of water, shall be clean: but that which toucheth their carcase shall be unclean. Nevertheless a spring or a pit in which is a gathering of water shall be clean: but that which touches their carcass shall be unclean.
Leviticus 11:37If it fall upon seed corn, it shall not defile it.And if any part of their carcase fall upon any sowing seed which is to be sown, it shall be clean. If [anything] of their carcass fall on any sowing seed which is to be sown, it is clean.
Leviticus 11:38But if any man pour water upon the seed, and afterwards it be touched by the carcasses, it shall be forthwith defiled.But if any water be put upon the seed, and any part of their carcase fall thereon, it shall be unclean unto you. But if water be put on the seed, and [anything] of their carcass fall thereon, it is unclean to you.
Leviticus 11:39If any beast die, of which it is lawful for you to eat, he that toucheth the carcass thereof, shall be unclean until the evening:And if any beast, of which ye may eat, die; he that toucheth the carcase thereof shall be unclean until the even. If any animal, of which you may eat, die; he who touches the carcass of it shall be unclean until the even.
Leviticus 11:40And he that eateth or carrieth any thing thereof, shall wash his clothes, and shall be unclean until the evening.And he that eateth of the carcase of it shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: he also that beareth the carcase of it shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even. He who eats of the carcass of it shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: he also that bears the carcass of it shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even.
Leviticus 11:4141All that creepeth upon the earth shall be abominable, neither shall it be taken for meat.And every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth shall be an abomination; it shall not be eaten. Every creeping thing that creeps on the earth is an abomination; it shall not be eaten.
Leviticus 11:42Whatsoever goeth upon the breast on four feet, or hath many feet, or traileth on the earth, you shall not eat, because it is abominable.Whatsoever goeth upon the belly, and whatsoever goeth upon all four, or whatsoever hath more feet among all creeping things that creep upon the earth, them ye shall not eat; for they are an abomination. Whatever goes on the belly, and whatever goes on all fours, or whatever has many feet, even all creeping things that creep on the earth, them you shall not eat; for they are an abomination.
Leviticus 11:43Do not defile your souls, nor touch aught thereof, lest you be unclean,Ye shall not make yourselves abominable with any creeping thing that creepeth, neither shall ye make yourselves unclean with them, that ye should be defiled thereby. You shall not make yourselves abominable with any creeping thing that creeps, neither shall you make yourselves unclean with them, that you should be defiled thereby.
Leviticus 11:44For I am the Lord your God: be holy because I am holy. Defile not your souls by any creeping thing, that moveth upon the earth.For I am the LORD your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. For I am Yahweh your God: sanctify yourselves therefore, and be you holy; for I am holy: neither shall you defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that moves on the earth.
Leviticus 11:45For I am the Lord, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that I might be your God.For I am the LORD that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy. For I am Yahweh who brought you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: you shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.
Leviticus 11:46You shall be holy, because I am holy. This is the law of beasts and fowls, and of every living creature that moveth in the waters, and creepeth on the earth:This is the law of the beasts, and of the fowl, and of every living creature that moveth in the waters, and of every creature that creepeth upon the earth: This is the law of the animal, and of the bird, and of every living creature that moves in the waters, and of every creature that creeps on the earth;
Leviticus 11:47That you may know the differences of the clean, and unclean, and know what you ought to eat, and what to refuse.To make a difference between the unclean and the clean, and between the beast that may be eaten and the beast that may not be eaten. to make a distinction between the unclean and the clean, and between the living thing that may be eaten and the living thing that may not be eaten.
