Acts 8:1And at that time there was raised a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all dispersed through the countries of Judea, and Samaria, except the apostles.And Saul was consenting to his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all dispersed throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles.And Saul gave approval to his death. Now at that time a violent attack was started against the church in Jerusalem; and all but the Apostles went away into all parts of Judaea and Samaria.
Acts 8:2And devout men took order for Stephen's funeral, and made great mourning over him.And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.And God-fearing men put Stephen's body in its last resting-place, making great weeping over him.
Acts 8:3But Saul made havock of the church, entering in from house to house, and dragging away men and women, committed them to prison.As for Saul, he made havoc of the church, entering into every house, and hauling men and women committed them to prison.But Saul was burning with hate against the church, going into every house and taking men and women and putting them in prison.
Acts 8:4They therefore that were dispersed, went about preaching the word of God.Therefore they that were dispersed went every where preaching the word.But those who had gone in flight went everywhere preaching the word.

Acts 8:6And the people with one accord were attentive to those things which were said by Philip, hearing, and seeing the miracles which he did.And the people with one accord gave heed to those things which Philip spoke, hearing and seeing the miracles which he performed.And all the people gave attention to the words which Philip said, when they saw the signs which he did.
Acts 8:7For many of them who had unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, went out.For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.For unclean spirits came out from those who had them, crying with a loud voice; and a number of those who were ill and broken in body were made well.
Acts 8:8And many, taken with the palsy, and that were lame, were healed.And there was great joy in that city.And there was much joy in that town.
Acts 8:9There was therefore great joy in that city. Now there was a certain man named Simon, who before had been a magician in that city, seducing the people of Samaria, giving out that he was some great one:But there was a certain man called Simon, who before in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:But there was a certain man named Simon, who in the past had been a wonder-worker and a cause of surprise to the people of Samaria, saying that he himself was a great man:
Acts 8:10To whom they all gave ear, from the least to the greatest, saying: This man is the power of God, which is called great.To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.To whom they all gave attention, from the smallest to the greatest, saying, This man is that power of God which is named Great.
Acts 8:11And they were attentive to him, because, for a long time, he had bewitched them with his magical practices.And to him they had regard, because that for a long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.And they gave attention to him, because for a long time his wonder-working powers had kept them under his control.
Acts 8:12But when they had believed Philip preaching of the kingdom of God, in the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.But when they believed Philip, preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized both men and women.But when they had faith in the good news given by Philip about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, a number of men and women had baptism.
Acts 8:13Then Simon himself believed also; and being baptized, he adhered to Philip. And being astonished, wondered to see the signs and exceeding great miracles which were done.Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.And Simon himself had faith and, having had baptism, he went with Philip and, seeing the signs and the great wonders which he did, he was full of surprise.
Acts 8:14Now when the apostles, who were in Jerusalem, had heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John.Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent to them Peter and John:Now when the Apostles at Jerusalem had news that the people of Samaria had taken the word of God into their hearts, they sent to them Peter and John;

But Peter said to him:Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Spirit.Give me this power, so that when I put my hands on anyone he may get the Holy Spirit.
Acts 8:20Keep thy money to thyself, to perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.But Peter said to him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.But Peter said, May your money come to destruction with you, because you had the idea that what is freely given by God may be got for a price.
Acts 8:21Thou hast no part nor lot in this matter. For thy heart is not right in the sight of God.Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.You have no part in this business, because your heart is not right before God.
Acts 8:22Do penance therefore for this thy wickedness; and pray to God, that perhaps this thought of thy heart may be forgiven thee.Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thy heart may be forgiven thee.Let your heart be changed, and make prayer to God that you may have forgiveness for your evil thoughts.

Acts 8:27And rising up, he went. And behold a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch, of great authority under Candace the queen of the Ethiopians, who had charge over all her treasures, had come to Jerusalem to adore.And he arose, and went: and behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem to worship,And he went and there was a man of Ethiopia, a servant of great authority under Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, and controller of all her property, who had come up to Jerusalem for worship;

And he said: Thinkest thou that thou understandest what thou readest?And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?And Philip, running up to him, saw that he was reading Isaiah the prophet, and said to him, Is the sense of what you are reading clear to you?
Acts 8:31Who said: And how can I, unless some man shew me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up, and sit with him.And he said, How is that possible when I have no guide? And he made Philip get up by his side.
Acts 8:32And the place of the scripture which he was reading was this: He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb without voice before his shearer, so openeth he not his mouth.The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so he opened not his mouth:Now the place in the book where he was reading was this: He was taken, like a sheep, to be put to death; and as a lamb is quiet when its wool is being cut, so he made no sound:
Acts 8:33In humility his judgment was taken away. His generation who shall declare, for his life shall be taken from the earth?In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.Being of low degree, his cause was not given a hearing: who has knowledge of his family? for his life is cut off from the earth.
