Hebrews 7:1For this Melchisedech was king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him:For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of God Most High, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him,
Hebrews 7:2To whom also Abraham divided the tithes of all: who first indeed by interpretation, is king of justice: and then also king of Salem, that is, king of peace:To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;to whom also Abraham divided a tenth part of all (being first, by interpretation, King of righteousness, and then also King of Salem, which is King of peace;
Hebrews 7:3Without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but likened unto the Son of God, continueth a priest for ever.Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like to the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God), remains a priest continually.
Hebrews 7:4Now consider how great this man is, to whom also Abraham the patriarch gave tithes out of the principal things.Now consider how great this man was, to whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils.Now consider how great this man was, to whom even Abraham, the patriarch, gave a tenth out of the best spoils.
Hebrews 7:5And indeed they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is to say, of their brethren: though they themselves also came out of the loins of Abraham.And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes from the people according to the law, that is, from their brethren, though they come from the loins of Abraham:They indeed of the sons of Levi who receive the priest's office have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brothers, though these have come out of the loins of Abraham,
Hebrews 7:6But he, whose pedigree is not numbered among them, received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises.But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes from Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises.but he whose genealogy is not counted from them has taken tithes of Abraham, and has blessed him who has the promises.
Hebrews 7:7And without all contradiction, that which is less, is blessed by the better.And without all contradiction the less is blessed by the better.But without any dispute the less is blessed of the better.
Hebrews 7:8And here indeed, men that die, receive thithes: but there he hath witness, that he liveth.And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is testified that he liveth.Here men who die receive tithes, but there one, of whom it is testified that he lives.
Hebrews 7:9And (as it may be said) even Levi who received tithes, paid tithes in Abraham:And as I may say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham.So to say, through Abraham even Levi, who receives tithes, has paid tithes,
Hebrews 7:10For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedech met him.For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him.for he was yet in the loins of his father when Melchizedek met him.
Hebrews 7:11If then perfection was by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise according to the order of Melchisedech, and not be called according to the order of Aaron?If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people received the law) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?Now if there was perfection through the Levitical priesthood (for under it have the people received the law), what further need was there for another priest to arise after the order of Melchizedek, and not be called after the order of Aaron?
Hebrews 7:12For the priesthood being translated, it is necessary that a translation also be made of the law.For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.For the priesthood being changed, there is of necessity a change made also of the law.
Hebrews 7:13For he, of whom these things are spoken, is of another tribe, of which no one attended on the altar.For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar.For he of whom these things are said belongs to another tribe, from which no man has given attendance at the altar.
Hebrews 7:14For it is evident that our Lord sprung out of Juda: in which tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priests.For it is evident that our Lord sprang from Judah; of which tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priesthood.For it is evident that our Lord has sprung out of Judah, as to which tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priesthood.
Hebrews 7:15And it is yet far more evident: if according to the similitude of Melchisedech there ariseth another priest,And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest,This is yet more abundantly evident, if after the likeness of Melchizedek there arises another priest,
Hebrews 7:16Who is made not according to the law of a carnal commandment, but according to the power of an indissoluble life:Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.who has been made, not after the law of a fleshly commandment, but after the power of an endless life:
Hebrews 7:17For he testifieth: Thou art a priest for ever, according to the order of Melchisedech.For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.for it is testified, "You are a priest forever, According to the order of Melchizedek."
Hebrews 7:18There is indeed a setting aside of the former commandment, because of the weakness and unprofitableness thereof:For there is verily a disannulling of the preceding commandment on account of its weakness and unprofitableness.For there is an annulling of a foregoing commandment because of its weakness and uselessness
Hebrews 7:19(For the law brought nothing to perfection,) but a bringing in of a better hope, by which we draw nigh to God.For the law made nothing perfect, but the introduction of a better hope did; by which we draw nigh to God.(for the law made nothing perfect), and a bringing in thereupon of a better hope, through which we draw near to God.
Hebrews 7:20And inasmuch as it is not without an oath, (for the others indeed were made priests without an oath;And inasmuch as not without an oath he was made priest:Inasmuch as it is not without the taking of an oath,
Hebrews 7:21But this with an oath, by him that said unto him: The Lord hath sworn, and he will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever.)(For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath, by him that said to him, The Lord swore, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:)for they indeed have been made priests without an oath; but he with an oath by him that says of him, "The Lord swore and will not change his mind, 'You are a priest forever, According to the order of Melchizedek'".
Hebrews 7:22By so much is Jesus made a surety of a better testament.By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.By so much has Jesus become the collateral of a better covenant.
Hebrews 7:23And the others indeed were made many priests, because by reason of death they were not suffered to continue:And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death:Many, indeed, have been made priests, because they are hindered from continuing by death.
Hebrews 7:24But this, for that he continueth for ever, hath an everlasting priesthood,But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.But he, because he lives forever, has his priesthood unchangeable.
Hebrews 7:25Whereby he is able also to save for ever them that come to God by him; always living to make intercession for us.Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come to God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.Therefore he is also able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, seeing he ever lives to make intercession for them.
Hebrews 7:26For it was fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;For such a high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;For such a high priest was fitting for us: holy, guiltless, undefiled, separated from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
Hebrews 7:27Who needeth not daily (as the other priests) to offer sacrifices first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, in offering himself.Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.who doesn't need, like those high priests, to daily offer up sacrifices, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. For this he did once for all, when he offered up himself.
Hebrews 7:28For the law maketh men priests, who have infirmity: but the word of the oath, which was since the law, the Son who is perfected for evermore.For the law maketh men high priests who have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was after the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.For the law appoints men high priests, having infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was after the law, appoints a Son, perfected forevermore.
