Hebrews 12:1And therefore we also having so great a cloud of witnesses over our head, laying aside every weight and sin which surrounds us, let us run by patience to the fight proposed to us:Wherefore, seeing we also are encompassed with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,Therefore, we also having so great a cloud of witnesses set around us, every weight having put off, and the closely besetting sin, through endurance may we run the contest that is set before us,
Hebrews 12:2Looking on Jesus, the author and finisher of faith, who having joy set before him, endured the cross, despising the shame, and now sitteth on the right hand of the throne of God.Looking to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.looking to the author and perfecter of faith Jesus, who, over-against the joy set before him did endure a cross, shame having despised, on the right hand also of the throne of God did sit down;
Hebrews 12:3For think diligently upon him that endured such opposition from sinners against himself; that you be not wearied, fainting in your minds.For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.for consider again him who endured such gainsaying from the sinners to himself, that ye may not be wearied in your souls being faint.
Hebrews 12:4For you have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin:Ye have not yet resisted to blood, striving against sin.Not yet unto blood did ye resist with the sin striving;
Hebrews 12:5And you have forgotten the consolation, which speaketh to you, as unto children, saying: My son, neglect not the discipline of the Lord; neither be thou wearied whilst thou art rebuked by him.And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh to you as to children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked by him:and ye have forgotten the exhortation that doth speak fully with you as with sons, `My son, be not despising chastening of the Lord, nor be faint, being reproved by Him,
Hebrews 12:6For whom the Lord loveth, he chastiseth; and he scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.for whom the Lord doth love He doth chasten, and He scourgeth every son whom He receiveth;`
Hebrews 12:7Persevere under discipline. God dealeth with you as with his sons; for what son is there, whom the father doth not correct?If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons: for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?if chastening ye endure, as to sons God beareth Himself to you, for who is a son whom a father doth not chasten?
Hebrews 12:8But if you be without chastisement, whereof all are made partakers, then are you bastards, and not sons.But if ye are without chastisement, of which all are partakers, then are ye bastards and not sons.and if ye are apart from chastening, of which all have become partakers, then bastards are ye, and not sons.
Hebrews 12:9Moreover we have had fathers of our flesh, for instructors, and we reverenced them: shall we not much more obey the Father of spirits, and live?Furthermore, we have had fathers of our flesh who corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection to the Father of spirits, and live?Then, indeed, fathers of our flesh we have had, chastising [us], and we were reverencing [them]; shall we not much rather be subject to the Father of the spirits, and live?
Hebrews 12:10And they indeed for a few days, according to their own pleasure, instructed us: but he, for our profit, that we might receive his sanctification.For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.for they, indeed, for a few days, according to what seemed good to them, were chastening, but He for profit, to be partakers of His separation;
Hebrews 12:11Now all chastisement for the present indeed seemeth not to bring with it joy, but sorrow: but afterwards it will yield, to them that are exercised by it, the most peaceable fruit of justice.Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless, afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness to them who are exercised by it.and all chastening for the present, indeed, doth not seem to be of joy, but of sorrow, yet afterward the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those exercised through it it doth yield.
Hebrews 12:12Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees,Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;Wherefore, the hanging-down hands and the loosened knees set ye up;
Hebrews 12:13And make straight steps with your feet: that no one, halting, may go out of the way; but rather be healed.And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.and straight paths make for your feet, that that which is lame may not be turned aside, but rather be healed;
Hebrews 12:14Follow peace with all men, and holiness: without which no man shall see God.Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:peace pursue with all, and the separation, apart from which no one shall see the Lord,
Hebrews 12:15Looking diligently, lest any man be wanting to the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up do hinder, and by it many be defiled.Looking diligently, lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up, trouble you, and by it many be defiled;looking diligently over lest any one be failing of the grace of God, lest any root of bitterness springing up may give trouble, and through this many may be defiled;
Hebrews 12:16Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau; who for one mess, sold his first birthright.Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birth-right.lest any one be a fornicator, or a profane person, as Esau, who in exchange for one morsel of food did sell his birthright,
Hebrews 12:17For know ye that afterwards, when he desired to inherit the benediction, he was rejected; for he found no place of repentance, although with tears he had sought it.For ye know that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.for ye know that also afterwards, wishing to inherit the blessing, he was disapproved of, for a place of reformation he found not, though with tears having sought it.
Hebrews 12:18For you are not come to a mountain that might be touched, and a burning fire, and a whirlwind, and darkness, and storm,For ye are not come to the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor to blackness, and to darkness, and tempest,For ye came not near to the mount touched and scorched with fire, and to blackness, and darkness, and tempest,
Hebrews 12:19And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words, which they that heard excused themselves, that the word might not be spoken to them:And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard, entreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more:and a sound of a trumpet, and a voice of sayings, which those having heard did entreat that a word might not be added to them,
Hebrews 12:20For they did not endure that which was said: And if so much as a beast shall touch the mount, it shall be stoned.(For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart:for they were not bearing that which is commanded, `And if a beast may touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or with an arrow shot through,`
Hebrews 12:21And so terrible was that which was seen, Moses said: I am frighted, and tremble.And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and tremble:)and, (so terrible was the sight,) Moses said, `I am fearful exceedingly, and trembling.`
Hebrews 12:22But you are come to mount Sion, and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to the company of many thousands of angels,But ye are come to mount Sion, and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,But, ye came to Mount Zion, and to a city of the living God, to the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of messengers,
Hebrews 12:23And to the church of the firstborn, who are written in the heavens, and to God the judge of all, and to the spirits of the just made perfect,To the general assembly and church of the first-born, who are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,to the company and assembly of the first-born in heaven enrolled, and to God the judge of all, and to spirits of righteous men made perfect,
Hebrews 12:24And to Jesus the mediator of the new testament, and to the sprinkling of blood which speaketh better than that of Abel.And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.and to a mediator of a new covenant Jesus, and to blood of sprinkling, speaking better things than that of Abel!
Hebrews 12:25See that you refuse him not that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spoke upon the earth, much more shall not we, that turn away from him that speaketh to us from heaven.See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spoke on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:See, may ye not refuse him who is speaking, for if those did not escape who refused him who upon earth was divinely speaking much less we who do turn away from him who [speaketh] from heaven,
Hebrews 12:26Whose voice then moved the earth; but now he promiseth, saying: Yet once more, and I will move not only the earth, but heaven also.Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.whose voice the earth shook then, and now hath he promised, saying, `Yet once I shake not only the earth, but also the heaven;`
Hebrews 12:27And in that he saith, Yet once more, he signifieth the translation of the moveable things as made, that those things may remain which are immoveable.And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.and this `Yet once` doth make evident the removal of the things shaken, as of things having been made, that the things not shaken may remain;
Hebrews 12:28Therefore receiving an immoveable kingdom, we have grace; whereby let us serve, pleasing God, with fear and reverence.Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably, with reverence and godly fear.wherefore, a kingdom that cannot be shaken receiving, may we have grace, through which we may serve God well-pleasingly, with reverence and religious fear;
Hebrews 12:29For our God is a consuming fire.For our God is a consuming fire.for also our God [is] a consuming fire.
