John 5:1After these things was a festival day of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.After this there was a feast of the Jews: and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.After these things there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem,
John 5:2Now there is at Jerusalem a pond, called Probatica, which in Hebrew is named Bethsaida, having five porches.Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue, Bethesda, having five porches.and there is in Jerusalem by the sheep-[gate] a pool that is called in Hebrew Bethesda, having five porches,
John 5:3In these lay a great multitude of sick, of blind, of lame, of withered; waiting for the moving of the water.In these lay a great multitude of impotent persons, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.in these were lying a great multitude of the ailing, blind, lame, withered, waiting for the moving of the water,
John 5:4And an angel of the Lord descended at certain times into the pond; and the water was moved. And he that went down first into the pond after the motion of the water, was made whole, of whatsoever infirmity he lay under.For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and agitated the water: whoever then first after the stirring of the water stepped in, was cured of whatever disease he had.for a messenger at a set time was going down in the pool, and was troubling the water, the first then having gone in after the troubling of the water, became whole of whatever sickness he was held.
John 5:5And there was a certain man there, that had been eight and thirty years under his infirmity.And a certain man was there, who had an infirmity thirty and eight years.and there was a certain man there being in ailment thirty and eight years,
John 5:6Him when Jesus had seen lying, and knew that he had been now a long time, he saith to him: Wilt thou be made whole?When Jesus saw him lying, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith to him, Wilt thou be healed?him Jesus having seen lying, and having known that he is already a long time, he saith to him, `Dost thou wish to become whole?`
John 5:7The infirm man answered him: Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pond. For whilst I am coming, another goeth down before me.The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is agitated, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.The ailing man answered him, `Sir, I have no man, that, when the water may be troubled, he may put me into the pool, and while I am coming, another doth go down before me.`
John 5:8Jesus saith to him: Arise, take up thy bed, and walk.Jesus saith to him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.Jesus saith to him, `Rise, take up thy couch, and be walking;`
John 5:9And immediately the man was made whole: and he took up his bed, and walked. And it was the sabbath that day.And immediately the man was healed, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.and immediately the man became whole, and he took up his couch, and was walking, and it was a sabbath on that day,
John 5:10The Jews therefore said to him that was healed: It is the sabbath; it is not lawful for thee to take up thy bed.The Jews therefore said to him that was cured, it is the sabbath; it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed.the Jews then said to him that hath been healed, `It is a sabbath; it is not lawful to thee to take up the couch.`
John 5:11He answered them: He that made me whole, he said to me, Take up thy bed, and walk.He answered them, He that healed me, the same said to me, Take up thy bed, and walk.He answered them, `He who made me whole that one said to me, Take up thy couch, and be walking;`
John 5:12They asked him therefore: Who is that man who said to thee, Take up thy bed, and walk?Then they asked him, What man is that who said to thee, Take up thy bed, and walk?they questioned him, then, `Who is the man who is saying to thee, Take up thy couch and be walking?`
John 5:13But he who was healed, knew not who it was; for Jesus went aside from the multitude standing in the place.And he that was healed knew not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place.But he that was healed had not known who he is, for Jesus did move away, a multitude being in the place.
John 5:14Afterwards, Jesus findeth him in the temple, and saith to him: Behold thou art made whole: sin no more, lest some worse thing happen to thee.Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said to him, Behold, thou art cured: sin no more, lest a worse thing come to thee.After these things, Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said to him, `Lo, thou hast become whole; sin no more, lest something worse may happen to thee.`
John 5:15The man went his way, and told the Jews, that it was Jesus who had made him whole.The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had healed him.The man went away, and told the Jews that it is Jesus who made him whole,
John 5:16Therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, because he did these things on the sabbath.And therefore the Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath.and because of this were the Jews persecuting Jesus, and seeking to kill him, because these things he was doing on a sabbath.
John 5:17But Jesus answered them: My Father worketh until now; and I work.But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.And Jesus answered them, `My Father till now doth work, and I work;`
John 5:18Hereupon therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he did not only break the sabbath, but also said God was his Father, making himself equal to God.Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.because of this, then, were the Jews seeking the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the sabbath, but he also called God his own Father, making himself equal to God.
John 5:19Then Jesus answered, and said to them: Amen, amen, I say unto you, the Son cannot do any thing of himself, but what he seeth the Father doing: for what things soever he doth, these the Son also doth in like manner.Then answered Jesus, and said to them, Verily, verily, I say to you, The Son can do nothing by himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for whatever things he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.Jesus therefore responded and said to them, `Verily, verily, I say to you, The Son is not able to do anything of himself, if he may not see the Father doing anything; for whatever things He may do, these also the Son in like manner doth;
John 5:20For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things which himself doth: and greater works than these will he shew him, that you may wonder.For the Father loveth the Son, and showeth him all things that himself doeth: and he will show him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.for the Father doth love the Son, and doth shew to him all things that He himself doth; and greater works than these He will shew him, that ye may wonder.
John 5:21For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and giveth life: so the Son also giveth life to whom he will.For as the Father raiseth the dead, and reviveth them; even so the Son reviveth whom he will.`For, as the Father doth raise the dead, and doth make alive, so also the Son doth make alive whom he willeth;
John 5:22For neither doth the Father judge any man, but hath given all judgment to the Son.For the Father judgeth no man; but hath committed all judgment to the Son:for neither doth the Father judge any one, but all the judgment He hath given to the Son,
John 5:23That all men may honour the Son, as they honour the Father. He who honoureth not the Son, honoureth not the Father, who hath sent him.That all men should honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He that honoreth not the Son, honoreth not the Father who hath sent him.that all may honour the Son according as they honour the Father; he who is not honouring the Son, doth not honour the Father who sent him.
John 5:24Amen, amen I say unto you, that he who heareth my word, and believeth him that sent me, hath life everlasting; and cometh not into judgment, but is passed from death to life.Verily, verily, I say to you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but hath passed from death to life.`Verily, verily, I say to you He who is hearing my word, and is believing Him who sent me, hath life age-during, and to judgment he doth not come, but hath passed out of the death to the life.
John 5:25Amen, amen I say unto you, that the hour cometh, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God, and they that hear shall live.Verily, verily, I say to you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.`Verily, verily, I say to you There cometh an hour, and it now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God, and those having heard shall live;
John 5:26For as the Father hath life in himself, so he hath given the Son also to have life in himself:For as the Father hath life in himself, so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;for, as the Father hath life in himself, so He gave also to the Son to have life in himself,
John 5:27And he hath given him power to do judgment, because he is the Son of man.And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.and authority He gave him also to do judgment, because he is Son of Man.
John 5:28Wonder not at this; for the hour cometh, wherein all that are in the graves shall hear the voice of the Son of God.Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,`Wonder not at this, because there doth come an hour in which all those in the tombs shall hear his voice,
John 5:29And they that have done good things, shall come forth unto the resurrection of life; but they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of judgment.And shall come forth; they that have done good to the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, to the resurrection of damnation.and they shall come forth; those who did the good things to a rising again of life, and those who practised the evil things to a rising again of judgment.
John 5:30I cannot of myself do any thing. As I hear, so I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not my own will, but the will of him that sent me.I can of my own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not my own will, but the will of the Father who hath sent me.`I am not able of myself to do anything; according as I hear I judge, and my judgment is righteous, because I seek not my own will, but the will of the Father who sent me.
John 5:31If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.If I testify concerning myself, my testimony is not true.`If I testify concerning myself, my testimony is not true;
John 5:32There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.There is another that testifieth concerning me, and I know that the testimony which he beareth concerning me is true.another there is who is testifying concerning me, and I have known that the testimony that he doth testify concerning me is true;
John 5:33You sent to John, and he gave testimony to the truth.Ye sent to John, and he testified to the truth.ye have sent unto John, and he hath testified to the truth.
John 5:34But I receive not testimony from man: but I say these things, that you may be saved.But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye may be saved.`But I do not receive testimony from man, but these things I say that ye may be saved;
John 5:35He was a burning and a shining light: and you were willing for a time to rejoice in his light.He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.he was the burning and shining lamp, and ye did will to be glad, for an hour, in his light.
John 5:36But I have a greater testimony than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to perfect; the works themselves, which I do, give testimony of me, that the Father hath sent me.But I have greater testimony than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear testimony concerning me, that the Father hath sent me.`But I have the testimony greater than John`s, for the works that the Father gave me, that I might finish them, the works themselves that I do, they testify concerning me, that the Father hath sent me.
John 5:37And the Father himself who hath sent me, hath given testimony of me: neither have you heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.And the Father himself who hath sent me, hath borne testimony concerning me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.`And the Father who sent me Himself hath testified concerning me; ye have neither heard His voice at any time, nor His appearance have ye seen;
John 5:38And you have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him you believe not.And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.and His word ye have not remaining in you, because whom He sent, him ye do not believe.
John 5:39Search the scriptures, for you think in them to have life everlasting; and the same are they that give testimony of me.Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.`Ye search the Writings, because ye think in them to have life age-during, and these are they that are testifying concerning me;
John 5:40And you will not come to me that you may have life.And ye will not come to me, that ye may have life.and ye do not will to come unto me, that ye may have life;
John 5:41I receive glory not from men.I receive not honor from men.glory from man I do not receive,
John 5:42But I know you, that you have not the love of God in you.But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.but I have known you, that the love of God ye have not in yourselves.
John 5:43I am come in the name of my Father, and you receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him you will receive.I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.`I have come in the name of my Father, and ye do not receive me; if another may come in his own name, him ye will receive;
John 5:44How can you believe, who receive glory one from another: and the glory which is from God alone, you do not seek?How can ye believe, who receive honor one from another, and seek not the honor that cometh from God only?how are ye able ye to believe, glory from one another receiving, and the glory that [is] from God alone ye seek not?
John 5:45Think not that I will accuse you to the Father. There is one that accuseth you, Moses, in whom you trust.Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.`Do not think that I will accuse you unto the Father; there is who is accusing you, Moses in whom ye have hoped;
John 5:46For if you did believe Moses, you would perhaps believe me also; for he wrote of me.For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote concerning me.for if ye were believing Moses, ye would have been believing me, for he wrote concerning me;
John 5:47But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?but if his writings ye believe not, how shall ye believe my sayings?`
