Luke 5:2And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets.He, however, saw two fishing-boats drawn up on the beach (for the men had gone away from them and were washing the nets),and he saw two boats standing by the lake: but the fishermen had gone out of them, and were washing their nets.
Luke 5:3And going into one of the ships that was Simon's, he desired him to draw back a little from the land. And sitting he taught the multitudes out of the ship.and going on board one of them, which was Simon's He asked him to push out a little from land. Then He sat down and taught the crowd of people from the boat.And he entered into one of the boats, which was Simon's, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And he sat down and taught the multitudes out of the boat.
Luke 5:4Now when he had ceased to speak, he said to Simon: Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.When He had finished speaking, He said to Simon, "Push out into deep water, and let down your nets for a haul."And when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Put out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.
Luke 5:5And Simon answering said to him: Master, we have labored all the night, and have taken nothing: but at thy word I will let down the net."Rabbi," replied Peter, "all night long we have worked hard and caught nothing; but at your command I will let down the nets."And Simon answered and said, Master, we toiled all night, and took nothing: but at thy word I will let down the nets.
Luke 5:6And when they had done this, they enclosed a very great multitude of fishes, and their net broke.This they did, and enclosed a vast number of fish; and their nets began to break.And when they had done this, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes; and their nets were breaking;
Luke 5:7And they beckoned to their partners that were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they were almost sinking.So they signalled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them; they came, and they filled both the boats so that they almost sank.and they beckoned unto their partners in the other boat, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink.
Luke 5:8Which when Simon Peter saw, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying: Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.When Simon Peter saw this, he fell down at the knees of Jesus, and exclaimed, "Master, leave my boat, for I am a sinful man."But Simon Peter, when he saw it, fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.
Luke 5:9For he was wholly astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken.(For he was astonished and terrified he and all his companions at the haul of fish which they had taken;For he was amazed, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken;
Luke 5:10And so were also James and John the sons of Zebedee, who were Simon's partners. And Jesus saith to Simon: Fear not: from henceforth thou shalt catch men.and so were Simon's partners James and John, the sons of Zabdi.) But Jesus replied to Simon, "Fear not: from this time you shall be a catcher of men."and so were also James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men.
Luke 5:11And having brought their ships to land, leaving all things, they followed him.Then, after bringing their boats to land, they left everything and followed Him.And when they had brought their boats to land, they left all, and followed him.
Luke 5:12And it came to pass, when he was ina certain city, behold a man full of leprosy, who seeing Jesus, and falling on his face, besought him, saying: Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.On another occasion, when He was in one of the towns, there was a man there covered with leprosy, who, seeing Jesus, threw himself at His feet and implored Him, saying, "Sir, if only you are willing, you are able to make me clean."And it came to pass, while he was in one of the cities, behold, a man full of leprosy: and when he saw Jesus, he fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
Luke 5:13And stretching forth his hand, he touched him, saying: I will. Be thou cleansed. And immediately the leprosy departed from him.Reaching out His hand and touching him, Jesus said, "I am willing; be cleansed!" And instantly the leprosy left him.And he stretched forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou made clean. And straightway the leprosy departed from him.
Luke 5:14And he charged him that he should tell no man, but, Go, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing according as Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.He ordered him to tell no one. "But go," He said, "show yourself to the Priest, and make the offering for your purification which Moses appointed, as evidence for them."And he charged him to tell no man: but go thy way, and show thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.
Luke 5:15But the fame of him went abroad the more, and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities.But all the more the report about Him spread abroad, and great multitudes crowded to hear Him and to be cured of their diseases;But so much the more went abroad the report concerning him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed of their infirmities.

Luke 5:17And it came to pass on a certain day, as he sat teaching, that there were also Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, that were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judea and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was to heal them.One day He was teaching, and there were Pharisees and teachers of the Law sitting there who had come from every village in Galilee and Judaea and from Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was present for Him to cure people.And it came to pass on one of those days, that he was teaching; and there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, who were come out of every village of Galilee and Judaea and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was with him to heal.
Luke 5:18And behold, men brought in a bed a man, who had the palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him.And a party of men came carrying a palsied man on a bed, and they endeavoured to bring him in and lay him before Jesus.And behold, men bring on a bed a man that was palsied: and they sought to bring him in, and to lay him before him.
Luke 5:19And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in, because of the multitude, they went up upon the roof, and let him down through the tiles with his bed into the midst before Jesus.But when they could find no way of doing so because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and let him down through the tiling bed and all into the midst, in front of Jesus.And not finding by what [way] they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went up to the housetop, and let him down through the tiles with his couch into the midst before Jesus.

Luke 5:21And the scribes and Pharisees began to think, saying: Who is this who speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?Then the Scribes and Pharisees began to cavil, asking, "Who is this, uttering blasphemies? Who but God alone can forgive sins?"And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this that speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?
Luke 5:22And when Jesus knew their thoughts, answering, he said to them: What is it you think in your hearts?Well aware of their reasonings, Jesus answered their questions by asking in turn, "What is this that you are debating in your hearts?But Jesus perceiving their reasonings, answered and said unto them, Why reason ye in your hearts?
Luke 5:23Which is easier to say, Thy sins are forgiven thee; or to say, Arise and walk?Which is easier? to say, `Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, `Rise and walk'?Which is easier, to say, Thy sins are forgiven thee; or to say, Arise and walk?
Luke 5:24But that you may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,) I say to thee, Arise, take up thy bed, and go into thy house.But to prove to you that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins" Turning to the paralytic He said, "I bid you, Rise, take up your bed, and go home."But that ye may know that the Son of man hath authority on earth to forgive sins (he said unto him that was palsied), I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go unto thy house.
Luke 5:25And immediately rising up before them, he took up the bed on which he lay; and he went away to his own house, glorifying God.Instantly he stood up in their presence, took up the mattress on which he had been lying, and went away to his home, giving glory to God.And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his house, glorifying God.
Luke 5:26And all were astonished; and they glorified God. And they were filled with fear, saying: We have seen wonderful things to day.Amazement seized them all. "Glory to God!" was the abiding feeling. Yet fear flashed through their minds and they said, "We have seen strange things to-day."And amazement took hold on all, and they glorified God; and they were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to-day.
Luke 5:27And after these things he went forth, and saw a publican named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom, and he said to him: Follow me.After this He went out and noticed a tax-gatherer, Levi by name, sitting at the Toll office; and He said to him, "Follow me."And after these things he went forth, and beheld a publican, named Levi, sitting at the place of toll, and said unto him, Follow me.
Luke 5:28And leaving all things, he rose up and followed him.He rose, left everything, and followed Him.And he forsook all, and rose up and followed him.
Luke 5:29And Levi made him a great feast in his own house; and there was a great company of publicans, and of others, that were at table with them.Levi also gave a great entertainment at his house in honour of Jesus, and there was a large party of tax-gatherers and others at table with them.And Levi made him a great feast in his house: and there was a great multitude of publicans and of others that were sitting at meat with them.
Luke 5:30But the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying to his disciples: Why do you eat and drink with publicans and sinners?This led the Pharisees and Scribes of their party to expostulate with His disciples and ask, "Why are you eating and drinking with these tax-gatherers and notorious sinners?"And the Pharisees and their scribes murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with the publicans and sinners?

Luke 5:34To whom he said: Can you make the children of the bridegroom fast, whilst the bridegroom is with them?"Can you compel the bridal party to fast," replied Jesus, "so long as they have the bridegroom among them?And Jesus said unto them, Can ye make the sons of the bride-chamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them?
Luke 5:35But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, then shall they fast in those days.But a time for this will come, when the Bridegroom has been taken away from them: then, at that time, they will fast."But the days will come; and when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, then will they fast in those days.
Luke 5:36And he spoke also a similitude to them: That no man putteth a piece from a new garment upon an old garment; otherwise he both rendeth the new, and the piece taken from the new agreeth not with the old.He also spoke in figurative language to them. "No one," He said, "tears a piece from a new garment to mend an old one. Otherwise he would not only spoil the new, but the patch from the new would not match the old.And he spake also a parable unto them: No man rendeth a piece from a new garment and putteth it upon an old garment; else he will rend the new, and also the piece from the new will not agree with the old.
Luke 5:37And no man putteth new wine into old bottle: otherwise the new wine will break the bottles, and it will be spilled, and the bottles will be lost.Nor does any one pour new wine into old wine-skins. Otherwise the new wine would burst the skins, the wine itself would be spilt, and the skins be destroyed.And no man putteth new wine into old wine-skins; else the new wine will burst the skins, and itself will be spilled, and the skins will perish.
Luke 5:38But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved.But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins.But new wine must be put into fresh wine-skins.
Luke 5:39And no man drinking old, hath presently a mind to new: for he saith, The old is better.Nor does any one after drinking old wine wish for new; for he says, `The old is better.'"And no man having drunk old [wine] desireth new; for he saith, The old is good.
