| Matthew 13:1 | The same day Jesus going out of the house, sat by the sea side. | That same day Jesus had left the house and was sitting on the shore of the Lake, | On that day Jesus went out of the house and was seated by the seaside. |
| Matthew 13:2 | And great multitudes were gathered unto him, so that he went up into a boat and sat: and all the multitude stood on the shore. | when a vast multitude of people crowded round Him. He therefore went on board a boat and sat there, while all the people stood on the shore. | And great numbers of people came together to him, so that he got into a boat; and the people took up their position by the sea. |
| Matthew 13:3 | And he spoke to them many things in parables, saying: Behold the sower went forth to sow. | He then spoke many things to them in figurative language. "The sower goes out," He said, "to sow. | And he gave them teaching in the form of a story, saying, A man went out to put seed in the earth; |
| Matthew 13:4 | And whilst he soweth some fell by the way side, and the birds of the air came and ate them up. | As he sows, some of the seed falls by the way-side, and the birds come and peck it up. | And while he did so, some seeds were dropped by the wayside, and the birds came and took them for food: |
| Matthew 13:5 | And other some fell upon stony ground, where they had not much earth: and they sprung up immediately, because they had no deepness of earth. | Some falls on rocky ground, where it has but scanty soil. It quickly shows itself above ground, because it has no depth of earth; | And some of the seed went among the stones, where it had not much earth, and straight away it came up because the earth was not deep: |
| Matthew 13:6 | And when the sun was up they were scorched: and because they had not root, they withered away. | but when the sun is risen, it is scorched by the heat, and through having no root it withers up. | And when the sun was high, it was burned; and because it had no root it became dry and dead. |
| Matthew 13:7 | And others fell among thorns: and the thorns grew up and choked them. | Some falls among the thorns; but the thorns spring up and stifle it. | And some seeds went among thorns, and the thorns came up and they had no room for growth: |
| Matthew 13:8 | And others fell upon good ground: and they brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, and some thirtyfold. | But a portion falls upon good ground, and gives a return, some a hundred for one, some sixty, some thirty. | And some, falling on good earth, gave fruit, some a hundred, some sixty, some thirty times as much. |

| Matthew 13:12 | For he that hath, to him shall be given, and he shall abound: but he that hath not, from him shall be taken away that also which he hath. | For whoever has, to him more shall be given, and he shall have abundance; but whoever has not, from him even what he has shall be taken away. | Because whoever has, to him will be given, and he will have more; but from him who has not, even what he has will be taken away. |
| Matthew 13:13 | Therefore do I speak to them in parables: because seeing they see not, and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. | I speak to them in figurative language for this reason, that while looking they do not see, and while hearing they neither hear nor understand. | For this reason I put things into the form of stories; because they see without seeing, and give ear without hearing, and the sense is not clear to them. |
| Matthew 13:14 | And the prophecy of Isaias is fulfilled in them, who saith: By hearing you shall hear, and shall not understand: and seeing you shall see, and shall not perceive. | And in regard to them the prophecy of Isaiah is receiving signal fulfilment: "`You will hear and hear and by no means understand, and you will look and look and by no means see. | And for them the words of Isaiah have come true, Though you give ear, you will not get knowledge; and seeing, you will see, but the sense will not be clear to you: |
| Matthew 13:15 | For the heart of this people is grown gross, and with their ears they have been dull of hearing, and their eyes they have shut: lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them. | For this people's mind is stupefied, their hearing has become dull, and their eyes they have closed; to prevent their ever seeing with their eyes, or hearing with their ears, or understanding with their minds, and turning back, so that I might heal them.' | For the heart of this people has become fat and their ears are slow in hearing and their eyes are shut; for fear that they might see with their eyes and give hearing with their ears and become wise in their hearts and be turned again to me, so that I might make them well. |
| Matthew 13:16 | But blessed are your eyes, because they see, and your ears, because they hear. | "But as for you, blessed are your eyes, for they see, and your ears, for they hear. | But a blessing be on your eyes, because they see; and on your ears, because they are open. |
| Matthew 13:17 | For, amen, I say to you, many prophets and just men have desired to see the things that you see, and have not seen them, and to hear the things that you hear and have not heard them. | For I solemnly tell you that many Prophets and holy men have longed to see the sights you see, and have not seen them, and to hear the words you hear, and have not heard them. | For truly, I say to you that prophets and upright men had a desire to see the things which you see, and saw them not; and to have knowledge of the words which have come to your ears, and they had it not. |
| Matthew 13:18 | Hear you therefore the parable of the sower. | "To you then I will explain the parable of the Sower. | Give ear, then, to the story of the man who put the seed in the earth. |
| Matthew 13:19 | When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, there cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart: this is he that received the seed by the way side. | When a man hears the Message concerning the Kingdom and does not understand it, the Evil one comes and catches away what has been sown in his heart. This is he who has received the seed by the road-side. | When the word of the kingdom comes to anyone, and the sense of it is not clear to him, then the Evil One comes, and quickly takes away that which was put in his heart. He is the seed dropped by the wayside. |
| Matthew 13:20 | And he that received the seed upon stony ground, is he that heareth the word, and immediately receiveth it with joy. | He who has received the seed on the rocky ground is the man who hears the Message and immediately receives it with joy. | And that which went on the stones, this is he who, hearing the word, straight away takes it with joy; |
| Matthew 13:21 | Yet hath he not root in himself, but is only for a time: and when there ariseth tribulation and persecution because of the word, he is presently scandalized. | It has struck no root, however, within him. He continues for a time, but when suffering comes, or persecution, because of the Message, he at once stumbles and falls. | But having no root in himself, he goes on for a time; and when trouble comes or pain, because of the word, he quickly becomes full of doubts. |
| Matthew 13:22 | And he that received the seed among thorns, is he that heareth the word, and the care of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choketh up the word, and he becometh fruitless. | He who has received the seed among the thorns is the man who hears the Message, but the cares of the present age and the delusions of riches quite stifle the Message, and it becomes unfruitful. | And that which was dropped among the thorns, this is he who has the word; and the cares of this life, and the deceits of wealth, put a stop to the growth of the word and it gives no fruit. |
| Matthew 13:23 | But he that received the seed upon good ground, is he that heareth the word, and understandeth, and beareth fruit, and yieldeth the one an hundredfold, and another sixty, and another thirty. | But he who has received the seed on good ground is he who hears and understands. Such hearers give a return, and yield one a hundred for one, another sixty, another thirty.") | And the seed which was put in good earth, this is he who gives ear to the word, and gets the sense of it; who gives fruit, some a hundred, some sixty, some thirty times as much. |

| Matthew 13:25 | But while men were asleep, his enemy came and oversowed cockle among the wheat and went his way. | but during the night his enemy comes, and over the first seed he sows darnel among the wheat, and goes away. | But while men were sleeping, one who had hate for him came and put evil seeds among the grain, and went away. |
| Matthew 13:26 | And when the blade was sprung up, and had brought forth fruit, then appeared also the cockle. | But when the blade shoots up and the grain is formed, then appears the darnel also. | But when the green stem came up and gave fruit, the evil plants were seen at the same time. |
| Matthew 13:27 | And the servants of the goodman of the house coming said to him: Sir, didst thou not sow good seed in thy field? whence then hath it cockle? | "So the farmer's men come and ask him, "`Sir, was it not good seed that you sowed on your land? Where then does the darnel come from?' | And the servants of the master of the house came and said to him, Sir, did you not put good seed in your field? how then has it evil plants? |
| Matthew 13:28 | And he said to them: An enemy hath done this. And the servants said to him: Wilt thou that we go and gather it up? | "`Some enemy has done this,' he said. "`Shall we go, and collect it?' the men inquire. | And he said, Someone has done this in hate. And the servants say to him, Is it your pleasure that we go and take them up? |
| Matthew 13:29 | And he said: No, lest perhaps gathering up the cockle, you root up the wheat also together with it. | "`No,' he replied, `for fear that while collecting the darnel you should at the same time root up the wheat with it. | But he says, No, for fear that by chance while you take up the evil plants, you may be rooting up the grain with them. |
| Matthew 13:30 | Suffer both to grow until the harvest, and in the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers: Gather up first the cockle, and bind it into bundles to burn, but the wheat gather ye into my barn. | Leave both to grow together until the harvest, and at harvest-time I will direct the reapers, Collect the darnel first, and make it up into bundles to burn it, but bring all the wheat into my barn.'" | Let them come up together till the getting in of the grain; and then I will say to the workers, Take up first the evil plants, and put them together for burning: but put the grain into my store-house. |

| Matthew 13:36 | Then having sent away the multitudes, he came into the house, and his disciples came to him, saying: Expound to us the parable of the cockle of the field. | When He had dismissed the people and had returned to the house, His disciples came to Him with the request, "Explain to us the parable of the darnel sown in the field." | Then he went away from the people, and went into the house; and his disciples came to him, saying, Make clear to us the story of the evil plants in the field. |
