Numbers 10:1And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:And the Lord said to Moses,
Numbers 10:2Make thee two trumpets of beaten silver, wherewith thou mayest call together the multitude when the camp is to be removed.Make two silver horns of hammered work, to be used for getting the people together and to give the sign for the moving of the tents.
Numbers 10:3And when thou shalt sound the trumpets, all the multitude shall gather unto thee to the door of the tabernacle of the covenant.When they are sounded, all the people are to come together to you at the door of the Tent of meeting.
Numbers 10:4If thou sound but once, the princes and the heads of the multitude of Israel shall come to thee.If only one of them is sounded, then the chiefs, the heads of the thousands of Israel, are to come to you.
Numbers 10:5But if the sound of the trumpets be longer, and with interruptions, they that are on the east side, shall first go forward.When a loud note is sounded, the tents placed on the east side are to go forward.
Numbers 10:6And at the second sounding and like noise of the trumpet, they who lie on the south side shall take up their tents. And after this manner shall the rest do, when the trumpets shall sound for a march.At the sound of a second loud note, the tents on the south side are to go forward: the loud note will be the sign to go forward.
Numbers 10:7But when the people is to be gathered together, the sound of the trumpets shall be plain, and they shall not make a broken sound.But when all the people are to come together, the horn is to be sounded but not loudly.
Numbers 10:8And the sons of Aaron the priest shall sound the trumpets: and this shall be an ordinance for ever in your generations.The horns are to be sounded by the sons of Aaron, the priests; this is to be a law for you for ever, from generation to generation.
Numbers 10:9If you go forth to war out of your land against the enemies that fight against you, you shall sound aloud with the trumpets, and there shall be a remembrance of you before the Lord your God, that you may be delivered out of the hands of your enemies.And if you go to war in your land against any who do you wrong, then let the loud note of the horn be sounded; and the Lord your God will keep you in mind and give you salvation from those who are against you.
Numbers 10:10If at any time you shall have a banquet, end on your festival days, and on the first days of your months, you shall sound the trumpets over the holocausts, and the sacrifices of peace offerings, that they may be to you for a remembrance of your God. I am the Lord your God.And on days of joy and on your regular feasts and on the first day of every month, let the horns be sounded over your burned offerings and your peace-offerings; and they will put the Lord in mind of you: I am the Lord your God.
Numbers 10:11The second year, in the second month, the twentieth day of the month, the cloud was taken up from the tabernacle of the covenant.Now in the second year, on the twentieth day of the second month, the cloud was taken up from over the Tent of witness.
Numbers 10:12And the children of Israel marched by their troops from the desert of Sinai, and the cloud rested in the wilderness of Pharan.And the children of Israel went on their journey out of the waste land of Sinai; and the cloud came to rest in the waste land of Paran.
Numbers 10:13And the first went forward according to the commandment of the Lord by the hand of Moses.They went forward for the first time on their journey as the Lord had given orders by the hand of Moses.
Numbers 10:14The sons of Juda by their troops: whose prince was Nahasson the son of Aminadab.First the flag of the children of Judah went forward with their armies: and at the head of his army was Nahshon, the son of Amminadab.
Numbers 10:15In the tribe of the sons of Issachar, the prince was Nathanael the son of Suar.And at the head of the army of the children of Issachar was Nethanel, the son of Zuar.
Numbers 10:16In the tribe of Zabulon, the prince was Eliab the son of Helon.And at the head of the army of the children of Zebulun was Eliab, the son of Helon.
Numbers 10:17And the tabernacle was taken down, and the sons of Gerson and Merari set forward, bearing it.Then the House was taken down; and the sons of Gershon and the sons of Merari, who were responsible for moving the House, went forward.
Numbers 10:18And the sons of Ruben also marched, by their troops and ranks, whose prince was Helisur the son of Sedeur.Then the flag of the children of Reuben went forward with their armies: and at the head of his army was Elizur, the son of Shedeur.
Numbers 10:19And in the tribe of Simeon, the prince was Salamiel the son of Surisaddai.And at the head of the army of the children of Simeon was Shelumiel, the son of Zurishaddai.
Numbers 10:20And in the tribe of Cad, the prince was Eliasaph the son of Duel.At the head of the army of the children of Gad was Eliasaph, the son of Reuel.
Numbers 10:21Then the Caathites also marched carrying the sanctuary. So long was the tabernacle carried, till they same to the place of setting it up.Then the Kohathites went forward with the holy place; the others put up the House ready for their coming.
Numbers 10:22The sons of Ephraim also moved their camp by their troops, in whose army the prince was Elisama the son of Ammiud.Then the flag of the children of Ephraim went forward with their armies: and at the head of his army was Elishama, the son of Ammihud.
Numbers 10:23And in the tribe of the sons of Manasses, the prince was Gamaliel the son of Phadassur.At the head of the army of the children of Manasseh was Gamaliel, the son of Pedahzur.
Numbers 10:24And in the tribe of Benjamin, the prince was Abidan the son of Gedeon.At the head of the army of the children of Benjamin was Abidan, the son of Gideoni.
Numbers 10:25The last of all the camp marched the sons of Dan by their troops, in whose army the prince was Ahiezer the son of Ammisaddai.And the flag of the children of Dan, whose tents were moved last of all, went forward with their armies: and at the head of his army was Ahiezer, the son of Ammishaddai.
Numbers 10:26And in the tribe of the sons of Aser, the prince was Phegiel the son of Ochran.At the head of the army of the children of Asher was Pagiel, the son of Ochran.
Numbers 10:27And in the tribe of the sons of Nephtali, the prince was Ahira the son of Enan.And at the head of the army of the children of Naphtali was Ahira, the son of Enan.
Numbers 10:28This was the order of the camps, and marches of the children of Israel by their troops, when they set forward.This was the order in which the children of Israel were journeying by armies; so they went forward.
Numbers 10:29And Moses said to Hobab the son of Raguel the Madianite, his kinsman: We are going towards the place which the Lord will give us: come with us, that we may do thee good : for the Lord hath promised good things to Israel.Then Moses said to Hobab, the son of his father-in-law Reuel the Midianite, We are journeying to that place of which the Lord has said, I will give it to you: so come with us, and it will be for your profit: for the Lord has good things in store for Israel.
Numbers 10:30But he answered him: I will not go with thee, but I will return to my country, wherein I was born.But he said, I will not go with you, I will go back to the land of my birth and to my relations.
Numbers 10:31And he said: Do not leave us: for thou knowest in what places we should encamp in the wilderness, and thou shalt be our guide.And he said, Do not go from us; for you will be eyes for us, guiding us to the right places in the waste land to put up our tents.
Numbers 10:32And if thou comest with us, we will give thee what is the best of the riches which the Lord shall deliver to us.And if you come with us, we will give you a part in whatever good the Lord does for us.
Numbers 10:33So they marched from the mount of the Lord three days' journey, and the ark of the covenant of the Lord went before them, for three days providing a place for the camp.So they went forward three days' journey from the mountain of the Lord; and the ark of the Lord's agreement went three days' journey before them, looking for a resting-place for them;
Numbers 10:34The cloud also of the Lord was over them by day when they marched.And by day the cloud of the Lord went over them, when they went forward from the place where they had put up their tents.
Numbers 10:35And when the ark was lifted up, Moses said: Arise, O Lord, and let thy enemies be scattered, and let them that hate thee, flee from before thy face.And when the ark went forward Moses said, Come up, O Lord, and let the armies of those who are against you be broken, and let your haters go in flight before you.
Numbers 10:36And when it was set down, he said: Return, O Lord, to the multitude of the host of Israel.And when it came to rest, he said, Take rest, O Lord, and give a blessing to the families of Israel.
