2nd-Peter 1:1Simon Peter, servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained equal faith with us in the justice of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ.Simon Peter, a bondservant and Apostle of Jesus Christ: To those to whom there has been allotted the same precious faith as that which is ours through the righteousness of our God and of our Saviour Jesus Christ.Simon Peter, bondman and apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have received like precious faith with us through [the] righteousness of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ:
2nd-Peter 1:2Grace to you and peace be accomplished in the knowledge of God and of Christ Jesus our Lord:May more and more grace and peace be granted to you in a full knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,Grace and peace be multiplied to you in [the] knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.
2nd-Peter 1:3As all things of his divine power which appertain to life and godliness, are given us, through the knowledge of him who hath called us by his own proper glory and virtue.seeing that His divine power has given us all things that are needful for life and godliness, through our knowledge of Him who has appealed to us by His own glorious perfections.As his divine power has given to us all things which relate to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that has called us by glory and virtue,
2nd-Peter 1:4By whom he hath given us most great and precious promises: that by these you may be made partakers of the divine nature: flying the corruption of that concupiscence which is in the world.It is by means of these that He has granted us His precious and wondrous promises, in order that through them you may, one and all, become sharers in the very nature of God, having completely escaped the corruption which exists in the world through earthly cravings.through which he has given to us the greatest and precious promises, that through these ye may become partakers of [the] divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
2nd-Peter 1:5And you, employing all care, minister in your faith, virtue; and in virtue, knowledge;But for this very reason adding, on your part, all earnestness along with your faith, manifest also a noble character: along with a noble character, knowledge;But for this very reason also, using therewith all diligence, in your faith have also virtue, in virtue knowledge,
2nd-Peter 1:6And in knowledge, abstinence; and in abstinence, patience; and in patience, godliness;along with knowledge, self-control; along with self-control, power of endurance;in knowledge temperance, in temperance endurance, in endurance godliness,
2nd-Peter 1:7And in godliness, love of brotherhood; and in love of brotherhood, charity.along with power of endurance, godliness; along with godliness, brotherly affection; and along with brotherly affection, love.in godliness brotherly love, in brotherly love love:
2nd-Peter 1:8For if these things be with you and abound, they will make you to be neither empty nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.If these things exist in you, and continually increase, they prevent your being either idle or unfruitful in advancing towards a full knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.for these things existing and abounding in you make [you] to be neither idle nor unfruitful as regards the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ;
2nd-Peter 1:9For he that hath not these things with him, is blind, and groping, having forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.For the man in whom they are lacking is blind and cannot see distant objects, in that he has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his old sins.for he with whom these things are not present is blind, short-sighted, and has forgotten the purging of his former sins.
2nd-Peter 1:10Wherefore, brethren, labour the more, that by good works you may make sure your calling and election. For doing these things, you shall not sin at any time.For this reason, brethren, be all the more in earnest to make sure that God has called you and chosen you; for it is certain that so long as you practise these things, you will never stumble.Wherefore the rather, brethren, use diligence to make your calling and election sure, for doing these things ye will never fall;
2nd-Peter 1:11For so an entrance shall be ministered to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.And so a triumphant admission into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ will be freely granted to you.for thus shall the entrance into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ be richly furnished unto you.
2nd-Peter 1:12For which cause I will begin to put you always in remembrance of these things: though indeed you know them, and are confirmed in the present truth.For this reason I shall always persist in reminding you of these things, although you know them and are stedfast believers in truth which you already possess.Wherefore I will be careful to put you always in mind of these things, although knowing [them] and established in the present truth.
2nd-Peter 1:13But I think it meet as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance.But I think it right, so long as I remain in the body, my present dwelling-place, to arouse you by such reminders.But I account it right, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting [you] in remembrance,
2nd-Peter 1:14Being assured that the laying away of this my tabernacle is at hand, according as our Lord Jesus Christ also hath signified to me.For I know that the time for me to lay aside my body is now rapidly drawing near, even as our Lord Jesus Christ has revealed to me.knowing that the putting off of my tabernacle is speedily [to take place], as also our Lord Jesus Christ has manifested to me;
2nd-Peter 1:15And I will endeavour, that you frequently have after my decease, whereby you may keep a memory of these things.So on every possible occasion I will also do my best to enable you to recall these things after my departure.but I will use diligence, that after my departure ye should have also, at any time, [in your power] to call to mind these things.
2nd-Peter 1:16For we have not by following artificial fables, made known to you the power, and presence of our Lord Jesus Christ; but we were eyewitnesses of his greatness.For when we made known to you the power and Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, we were not eagerly following cleverly devised legends, but we had been eye-witnesses of His majesty.For we have not made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, following cleverly imagined fables, but having been eyewitnesses of *his* majesty.
2nd-Peter 1:17For he received from God the Father, honour and glory: this voice coming down to him from the excellent glory: This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.He received honour and glory from God the Father, and out of the wondrous glory words such as these were spoken to Him, "This is My dearly-loved Son, in whom I take delight."For he received from God [the] Father honour and glory, such a voice being uttered to him by the excellent glory: This is my beloved Son, in whom *I* have found my delight;
2nd-Peter 1:18And this voice we heard brought from heaven, when we were with him in the holy mount.And we ourselves heard these words come from Heaven, when we were with Him on the holy mountain.and this voice *we* heard uttered from heaven, being with him on the holy mountain.
2nd-Peter 1:19And we have the more firm prophetical word: whereunto you do well to attend, as to a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:And in the written word of prophecy we have something more permanent; to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dimly-lighted place until day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.And we have the prophetic word [made] surer, to which ye do well taking heed (as to a lamp shining in an obscure place) until [the] day dawn and [the] morning star arise in your hearts;
2nd-Peter 1:20Understanding this first, that no prophecy of scripture is made by private interpretation.But, above all, remember that no prophecy in Scripture will be found to have come from the prophet's own prompting;knowing this first, that [the scope of] no prophecy of scripture is had from its own particular interpretation,
2nd-Peter 1:21For prophecy came not by the will of man at any time: but the holy men of God spoke, inspired by the Holy Ghost.for never did any prophecy come by human will, but men sent by God spoke as they were impelled by the Holy Spirit.for prophecy was not ever uttered by [the] will of man, but holy men of God spake under the power of [the] Holy Spirit.
