Matthew 19:2And great multitudes followed him: and he healed them there.And a vast multitude followed him, and He cured them there.and great crowds followed him, and he healed them there.
Matthew 19:3And there came to him the Pharisees tempting him, and saying: Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?Then came some of the Pharisees to Him to put Him to the proof by the question, "Has a man a right to divorce his wife whenever he chooses?"And the Pharisees came to him tempting him, and saying, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?
Matthew 19:4Who answering, said to them: Have ye not read, that he who made man from the beginning, Made them male and female? And he said:"Have you not read," He replied, "that He who made them `made them' from the beginning `male and female,But he answering said [to them], Have ye not read that he who made [them], from the beginning made them male and female,
Matthew 19:5For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife, and they two shall be in one flesh.and said, For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two shall be one'?and said, On account of this a man shall leave father and mother, and shall be united to his wife, and the two shall be one flesh?
Matthew 19:6Therefore now they are not two, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let no man put asunder.Thus they are no longer two, but `one'! What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate."so that they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.
Matthew 19:7They say to him: Why then did Moses command to give a bill of divorce, and to put away?"Why then," said they, "did Moses command the husband to give her `a written notice of divorce,' and so put her away?"They say to him, Why then did Moses command to give a letter of divorce and to send [her] away?
Matthew 19:8He saith to them: Because Moses by reason of the hardness of your heart permitted you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so."Moses," He replied, "in consideration of the hardness of your nature permitted you to put away your wives, but it has not been so from the beginning.He says to them, Moses, in view of your hardheartedness, allowed you to put away your wives; but from the beginning it was not thus.
Matthew 19:9And I say to you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and he that shall marry her that is put away, committeth adultery.And I tell you that whoever divorces his wife for any reason except her unfaithfulness, and marries another woman, commits adultery."But I say unto you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, not for fornication, and shall marry another, commits adultery; and he who marries one put away commits adultery.
Matthew 19:10His disciples say unto him: If the case of a man with his wife be so, it is not expedient to marry."If this is the case with a man in relation to his wife," said the disciples to Him, "it is better not to marry."His disciples say to him, If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not good to marry.
Matthew 19:11Who said to them: All men take not this word, but they to whom it is given."It is not every man," He replied, "who can receive this teaching, but only those on whom the grace has been bestowed.And he said to them, All cannot receive this word, but those to whom it has been given;
Matthew 19:12For there are eunuchs, who were born so from their mother's womb: and there are eunuchs, who were made so by men: and there are eunuchs, who have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven. He that can take, let him take it.There are men who from their birth have been disabled from marriage, others who have been so disabled by men, and others who have disabled themselves for the sake of the Kingdom of the Heavens. He who is able to receive this, let him receive it."for there are eunuchs which have been born thus from [their] mother's womb; and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs of men; and there are eunuchs who have made eunuchs of themselves for the sake of the kingdom of the heavens. He that is able to receive [it], let him receive [it].
Matthew 19:13Then were little children presented to him, that he should impose hands upon them and pray. And the disciples rebuked them.Then young children were brought to Him for Him to put His hands on them and pray; but the disciples interfered.Then there were brought to him little children that he might lay his hands on them and pray; but the disciples rebuked them.
Matthew 19:14But Jesus said to them: Suffer the little children, and forbid them not to come to me: for the kingdom of heaven is for such.Jesus however said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them; for it is to those who are childlike that the Kingdom of the Heavens belongs."But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and do not hinder them from coming to me; for the kingdom of the heavens is of such:
Matthew 19:15And when he had imposed hands upon them, he departed from thence.So He laid His hands upon them and went away.and having laid his hands upon them, he departed thence.
Matthew 19:16And behold one came and said to him: Good master, what good shall I do that I may have life everlasting?"Teacher," said one man, coming up to Him, "what that is good shall I do in order to win the Life of the Ages?"And lo, one coming up said to him, Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have life eternal?
Matthew 19:17Who said to him: Why asketh thou me concerning good? One is good, God. But if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments."Why do you ask me," He replied, "about what is good? There is only One who is truly good. But if you desire to enter into Life, keep the Commandments."And he said to him, What askest thou me concerning goodness? one is good. But if thou wouldest enter into life, keep the commandments.
Matthew 19:18He said to him: Which? And Jesus said: Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness."Which Commandments?" he asked. Jesus answered, "`Thou shalt not kill;' `Thou shalt not commit adultery;' `Thou shalt not steal;' `Thou shalt not lie in giving evidence;'He says to him, Which? And Jesus said, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,
Matthew 19:19Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.`Honour thy father and thy mother'; and `Thou shalt love thy fellow man as much as thyself.'"Honour thy father and thy mother, and Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Matthew 19:20The young man saith to him: All these I have kept from my youth, what is yet wanting to me?"All of these," said the young man, "I have carefully kept. What do I still lack?"The young man says to him, All these have I kept; what lack I yet?
Matthew 19:21Jesus saith to him: If thou wilt be perfect, go sell what thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come follow me."If you desire to be perfect," replied Jesus, "go and sell all that you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have wealth in Heaven; and come, follow me."Jesus said to him, If thou wouldest be perfect, go, sell what thou hast and give to [the] poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.
Matthew 19:22And when the young man had heard this word, he went away sad: for he had great possessions.On hearing those words the young man went away much cast down; for he had much property.But the young man, having heard the word, went away grieved, for he had large possessions.
Matthew 19:23Then Jesus said to his disciples: Amen, I say to you, that a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.So Jesus said to His disciples, "I solemnly tell you that it is with difficulty that a rich man will enter the Kingdom of the Heavens.And Jesus said to his disciples, Verily I say unto you, A rich man shall with difficulty enter into the kingdom of the heavens;
Matthew 19:24And again I say to you: It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven.Yes, I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God."and again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to enter a needle's eye than a rich man into the kingdom of God.
Matthew 19:25And when they had heard this, the disciples wondered very much, saying: Who then can be saved?These words utterly amazed the disciples, and they asked, "Who then can be saved?"And when the disciples heard [it] they were exceedingly astonished, saying, Who then can be saved?
Matthew 19:26And Jesus beholding, said to them: With men this is impossible: but with God all things are possible.Jesus looked at them and said, "With men this is impossible, but with God everything is possible."But Jesus, looking on [them], said to them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
Matthew 19:27Then Peter answering, said to him: Behold we have left all things, and have followed thee: what therefore shall we have?Then Peter said to Jesus, "See, *we* have forsaken everything and followed you; what then will be *our* reward?"Then Peter answering said to him, Behold, *we* have left all things and have followed thee; what then shall happen to us?
Matthew 19:28And Jesus said to them: Amen, I say to you, that you, who have followed me, in the regeneration, when the Son of man shall sit on the seat of his majesty, you also shall sit on twelve seats judging the twelve tribes of Israel."I solemnly tell you," replied Jesus, "that in the New Creation, when the Son of Man has taken His seat on His glorious throne, all of you who have followed me shall also sit on twelve thrones and judge the twelve tribes of Israel.And Jesus said to them, Verily I say unto you, That *ye* who have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit down upon his throne of glory, *ye* also shall sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
Matthew 19:29And every one that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall possess life everlasting.And whoever has forsaken houses, or brothers or sisters, or father or mother, or children or lands, for my sake, shall receive many times as much and shall have as his inheritance the Life of the Ages.And every one who has left houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit life eternal.
