Ephesians 5:1Be ye therefore followers of God, as most dear children;Therefore be imitators of God, as His dear children.Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
Ephesians 5:2And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath delivered himself for us, an oblation and a sacrifice to God for an odour of sweetness.And live and act lovingly, as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up to death on our behalf as an offering and sacrifice to God, yielding a fragrant odor.And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
Ephesians 5:3But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not so much as be named among you, as becometh saints:But fornication and every kind of impurity, or covetousness, let them not even be mentioned among you, for they ought not to be named among God's people.But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;
Ephesians 5:4Or obscenity, or foolish talking, or scurrility, which is to no purpose; but rather giving of thanks.Avoid shameful and foolish talk and low jesting they are all alike discreditable and in place of these give thanks.Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
Ephesians 5:5For know you this and understand, that no fornicator, or unclean, or covetous person (which is a serving of idols), hath inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.For be well assured that no fornicator or immoral person and no money-grubber or in other words idol-worshipper has any share awaiting him in the Kingdom of Christ and of God.For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
Ephesians 5:6Let no man deceive you with vain words. For because of these things cometh the anger of God upon the children of unbelief.Let no one deceive you with empty words, for it is on account of these very sins that God's anger is coming upon the disobedient.Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
Ephesians 5:7Be ye not therefore partakers with them.Therefore do not become sharers with them.Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
Ephesians 5:8For you were heretofore darkness, but now light in the Lord. Walk then as children of the light.There was a time when you were nothing but darkness. Now, as Christians, you are Light itself.For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
Ephesians 5:9For the fruit of the light is in all goodness, and justice, and truth;Live and act as sons of Light for the effect of the Light is seen in every kind of goodness, uprightness and truth(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
Ephesians 5:10Proving what is well pleasing to God:and learn in your own experiences what is fully pleasing to the Lord.Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
Ephesians 5:11And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.Have nothing to do with the barren unprofitable deeds of darkness, but, instead of that, set your faces against them;And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
Ephesians 5:12For the things that are done by them in secret, it is a shame even to speak of.for the things which are done by these people in secret it is disgraceful even to speak of.For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.
Ephesians 5:13But all things that are reproved, are made manifest by the light; for all that is made manifest is light.But everything can be tested by the light and thus be shown in its true colors; for whatever shines of itself is light.But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.
Ephesians 5:14Wherefore he saith: Rise thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead: and Christ shall enlighten thee.For this reason it is said, "Rise, sleeper; rise from among the dead, and Christ will shed light upon you."Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
Ephesians 5:15See therefore, brethren, how you walk circumspectly: not as unwise,Therefore be very careful how you live and act. Let it not be as unwise men, but as wise.See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
Ephesians 5:16But as wise: redeeming the time, because the days are evil.Buy up your opportunities, for these are evil times.Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
Ephesians 5:17Wherefore become not unwise, but understanding what is the will of God.On this account do not prove yourselves wanting in sense, but try to understand what the Lord's will is.Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
Ephesians 5:18And be not drunk with wine, wherein is luxury; but be ye filled with the holy Spirit,Do not over-indulge in wine a thing in which excess is so easyAnd be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
Ephesians 5:19Speaking to yourselves in psalms, and hymns, and spiritual canticles, singing and making melody in your hearts to the Lord;but drink deeply of God's Spirit. Speak to one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and offer praise in your hearts to the Lord.Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
Ephesians 5:20Giving thanks always for all things, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to God and the Father:Always and for everything let your thanks to God the Father be presented in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
Ephesians 5:21Being subject one to another, in the fear of Christ.and submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
Ephesians 5:22Let women be subject to their husbands, as to the Lord:Married women, submit to your own husbands as if to the Lord;Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
Ephesians 5:23Because the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ is the head of the church. He is the saviour of his body.because a husband is the Head of his wife as Christ also is the Head of the Church, being indeed the Saviour of this His Body.For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
Ephesians 5:24Therefore as the church is subject to Christ, so also let the wives be to their husbands in all things.And just as the Church submits to Christ, so also married women should be entirely submissive to their husbands.Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
Ephesians 5:25Husbands, love your wives, as Christ also loved the church, and delivered himself up for it:Married men, love your wives, as Christ also loved the Church and gave Himself up to death for her;Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
Ephesians 5:26That he might sanctify it, cleansing it by the laver of water in the word of life:in order to make her holy, cleansing her with the baptismal water by the word,That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
Ephesians 5:27That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle, or any; such thing; but that it should be holy, and without blemish.that He might present the Church to Himself a glorious bride, without spot or wrinkle or any other defect, but to be holy and unblemished.That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
Ephesians 5:28So also ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife, loveth himself.So too married men ought to love their wives as much as they love themselves. He who loves his wife loves himself.So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
Ephesians 5:29For no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, as also Christ doth the church:For never yet has a man hated his own body. On the contrary he feeds and cherishes it, just as Christ feeds and cherishes the Church;For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
Ephesians 5:30Because we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.because we are, as it were, parts of His Body.For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
Ephesians 5:31For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife, and they shall be two in one flesh."For this reason a man is to leave his father and his mother and be united to his wife, and the two shall be as one."For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
Ephesians 5:32This is a great sacrament; but I speak in Christ and in the church.That is a great truth hitherto kept secret: I mean the truth concerning Christ and the Church.This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
Ephesians 5:33Nevertheless let every one of you in particular love his wife as himself: and let the wife fear her husband.Yet I insist that among you also, each man is to love his own wife as much as he loves himself, and let a married woman see to it that she treats her husband with respect.Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
