Acts 24:1 | And after five days the high priest Ananias came down, with some of the ancients, and one Tertullus an orator, who went to the governor against Paul. | Five days after this, Ananias the High Priest came down to Caesarea with a number of Elders and a pleader called Tertullus. They stated to the Governor the case against Paul. | And after five days, Ananias the high priest descended with the elders, and with a certain orator named Tertullus, who informed the governor against Paul. |
Acts 24:2 | And Paul being called for, Tertullus began to accuse him, saying: Whereas through thee we live in much peace, and many things are rectified by thy providence, | So Paul was sent for, and Tertullus began to impeach him as follows: "Indebted as we are," he said, "to you, most noble Felix, for the perfect peace which we enjoy, and for reforms which your wisdom has introduced to this nation, | And when he was called forth, Tertullus began to accuse him, saying, Seeing that by thee we enjoy great quietness, and that very worthy deeds are done to this nation by thy providence, |
Acts 24:3 | We accept it always and in all places, most excellent Felix, with all thanksgiving. | in every instance and in every place we accept them with profound gratitude. | We accept it always, and in all places, most noble Felix, with all thankfulness. |
Acts 24:4 | But that I be no further tedious to thee, I desire thee of thy clemency to hear us in few words. | But not to detain you too long I beg you in your forbearance to listen to a brief statement from us. | Notwithstanding, that I may not be further tedious to thee, I pray thee, that thou wouldst of thy clemency hear us a few words. |
Acts 24:5 | We have found this to be a pestilent man, and raising seditions among all the Jews throughout the world, and author of the sedition of the sect of the Nazarenes. | For we have found this man Paul a source of mischief and a disturber of the peace among all the Jews throughout the Empire, and a ringleader in the heresy of the Nazarenes. | For we have found this a pestilent man, and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ring-leader of the sect of the Nazarenes: |
Acts 24:6 | Who also hath gone about to profane the temple: whom, we having apprehended, would also have judged according to our law. | He even attempted to profane the Temple, but we arrested him. | Who also hath gone about to profane the temple: whom we took, and would have judged according to our law. |

Acts 24:11 | For thou mayest understand, that there are yet but twelve days, since I went up to adore in Jerusalem: | For you have it in your power to ascertain that it is not more than twelve days ago that I went up to worship in Jerusalem; | That thou mayest understand, that there are yet but twelve days since I went up to Jerusalem to worship. |
Acts 24:12 | And neither in the temple did they find me disputing with any man, or causing any concourse of the people, neither in the synagogues, nor in the city: | and that neither in the Temple nor in the synagogues, nor anywhere in the city, did they find me disputing with any opponent or collecting a crowd about me. | And they neither found me in the temple disputing with any man, neither exciting the people to sedition, neither in the synagogues, nor in the city: |
Acts 24:13 | Neither can they prove unto thee the things whereof they now accuse me. | Nor can they prove the charges which they are now bringing against me. | Neither can they prove the things of which they now accuse me. |

Acts 24:15 | Having hope in God, which these also themselves look for, that there shall be a resurrection of the just and unjust. | and having a hope directed towards God, which my accusers themselves also entertain, that before long there will be a resurrection both of the righteous and the unrighteous. | And have hope towards God, which they themselves also allow, that there will be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust. |
Acts 24:16 | And herein do I endeavour to have always a conscience without offence toward God, and towards men. | This too is my own earnest endeavour always to have a clear conscience in relation to God and man. | And in this I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offense towards God, and towards men. |

Acts 24:19 | But certain Jews of Asia, who ought to be present before thee, and to accuse, if they had any thing against me: | They ought to have been here before you, and to have been my prosecutors, if they have any charge to bring against me. | Who ought to have been here before thee, and object if they had aught against me. |
Acts 24:20 | Or let these men themselves say, if they found in me any iniquity, when standing before the council, | Or let these men themselves say what misdemeanour they found me guilty of when I stood before the Sanhedrin, | Or else let these same here say, if they have found any evil-doing in me, while I stood before the council, |
Acts 24:21 | Except it be for this one voice only that I cried, standing among them, Concerning the resurrection of the dead am I judged this day by you. | unless it was in that one expression which I made use of when I shouted out as I stood among them, "`The resurrection of the dead is the thing about which I am on my trial before you to-day.'" | Except it is for this one voice, that I cried, standing among them, Concerning the resurrection of the dead I am called in question by you this day. |
Acts 24:22 | And Felix put them off, having most certain knowledge of this way, saying: When Lysias the tribune shall come down, I will hear you. | At this point Felix, who was fairly well informed about the new faith, adjourned the trial, saying to the Jews, "When the Tribune Lysias comes down, I will enter carefully into the matter." | And when Felix heard these things, having more perfect knowledge of that way, he deferred them, and said, When Lysias the chief captain shall come down, I will know the uttermost of your matter. |
Acts 24:23 | And he commanded a centurion to keep him, and that he should be easy, and that he should not prohibit any of his friends to minister unto him. | And he gave orders to the Captain that Paul was to be kept in custody, but be treated with indulgence, and that his personal friends were not to be prevented from showing him kindness. | And he commanded a centurion to keep Paul, and to let him have liberty, and that he should forbid none of his acquaintance to minister, or come to him. |

Acts 24:25 | And as he treated of justice, and chastity, and of the judgment to come, Felix being terrified, answered: For this time, go thy way: but when I have a convenient time, I will send for thee. | But when he dealt with the subjects of justice, self-control, and the judgement which was soon to come, Felix became alarmed and said, "For the present leave me, and when I can find a convenient opportunity I will send for you." | And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, depart for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee. |
Acts 24:26 | Hoping also withal, that money should be given him by Paul; for which cause also oftentimes sending for him, he spoke with him. | At the same time he hoped that Paul would give him money; and for this reason he sent for him the oftener to converse with him. | He hoped also that money would have been given him by Paul, that he might loose him: wherefore he sent for him the oftener, and communed with him. |
Acts 24:27 | But when two years were ended, Felix had for successor Portius Festus. And Felix being willing to shew the Jews a pleasure, left Paul bound. | But after the lapse of fully two years Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus; and being desirous of gratifying the Jews, Felix left Paul still in prison. | But after two years Porcius Festus came as successor to Felix: and Felix willing to show the Jews a pleasure, left Paul bound. |
