Philippians 1:1Paul and Timothy, the servants of Jesus Christ; to all the saints in Christ Jesus, who are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons.Paul and Timothy, bondservants of Christ Jesus: To all God's people in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi, with the ministers of the Church and their assistants.Paul and Timothy, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:
Philippians 1:2Grace be unto you, and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.May grace and peace be granted to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Philippians 1:3I give thanks to my God in every remembrance of you,I thank my God at my every remembrance of youI thank my God upon every remembrance of you,
Philippians 1:4Always in all my prayers making supplication for you all, with joy;always when offering any prayer on behalf of you all, finding a joy in offering it.Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,
Philippians 1:5For your communication in the gospel of Christ from the first day until now.I thank my God, I say, for your cooperation in spreading the Good News, from the time it first came to you even until now.For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now;
Philippians 1:6Being confident of this very thing, that he, who hath begun a good work in you, will perfect it unto the day of Christ Jesus.For of this I am confident, that He who has begun a good work within you will go on to perfect it in preparation for the day of Jesus Christ.Being confident of this very thing, that he who hath begun a good work in you, will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
Philippians 1:7As it is meet for me to think this for you all, for that I have you in my heart; and that in my bands, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers of my joy.And I am justified in having this confidence about you all, because, both during my imprisonment and when I stand up in defence of the Good News or to confirm its truth, I have you in my heart, sharers as you all are in the same grace as myself.Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace.
Philippians 1:8For God is my witness, how I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ.For God is my witness how I yearn over all of you with tender Christian affection.For God is my witness, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ.
Philippians 1:9And this I pray, that your charity may more and more abound in knowledge, and in all understanding:And it is my prayer that your love may be more and more accompanied by clear knowledge and keen perception, for testing things that differ,And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;
Philippians 1:10That you may approve the better things, that you may be sincere and without offence unto the day of Christ,so that you may be men of transparent character, and may be blameless, in preparation for the day of Christ,That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ;
Philippians 1:11Filled with the fruit of justice, through Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.being filled with these fruits of righteousness which come through Jesus Christ to the glory and praise of God.Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
Philippians 1:12Now, brethren, I desire you should know, that the things which have happened to me, have fallen out rather to the furtherance of the gospel:Now I would have you know, brethren, that what I have gone through has turned out to the furtherance of the Good News rather than otherwise.But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened to me have fallen out rather to the furtherance of the gospel;
Philippians 1:13So that my bands are made manifest in Christ, in all the court, and in all other places;And thus it has become notorious among all the Imperial Guards, and everywhere, that it is for the sake of Christ that I am a prisoner;So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places;
Philippians 1:14And many of the brethren in the Lord, growing confident by my bands, are much more bold to speak the word of God without fear.and the greater part of the brethren, made confident in the Lord through my imprisonment, now speak of God's Message without fear, more boldly than ever.And many of the brethren in the Lord, becoming confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.
Philippians 1:15Some indeed, even out of envy and contention; but some also for good will preach Christ.Some indeed actually preach Christ out of envy and contentiousness but there are also others who do it from good will.Some indeed preach Christ even from envy and strife; and some also from good will.
Philippians 1:16Some out of charity, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.These latter preach Him from love to me, knowing that I am here for the defence of the Good News;The one preach Christ from contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:
Philippians 1:17And some out of contention preach Christ not sincerely: supposing that they raise affliction to my bands.while the others proclaim Him from motives of rivalry, and insincerely, supposing that by this they are embittering my imprisonment.But the other from love, knowing that I am set for the defense of the gospel.
Philippians 1:18But what then? So that by all means, whether by occasion, or by truth, Christ be preached: in this also I rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.What does it matter, however? In any case Christ is preached either perversely or in honest truth; and in that I rejoice, yes, and will rejoice.What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yes, and will rejoice.
Philippians 1:19For I know that this shall fall out to me unto salvation, through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,For I know that it will result in my salvation through your prayers and a bountiful supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,For I know that this will turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,
Philippians 1:20According to my expectation and hope; that in nothing I shall be confounded, but with all confidence, as always, so now also shall Christ be magnified in my body, wither it be by life, or by death.in fulfilment of my eager expectation and hope that I shall never have reason to feel ashamed, but that by my perfect freedom of speech Christ will be glorified in me, now as always, either by my life or by my death.According to my earnest expectation and hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also, Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life, or by death.
Philippians 1:21For to me, to live is Christ; and to die is gain.For, with me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Philippians 1:22And if to live in the flesh, that is to me the fruit of labour, and what I shall choose I know not.But since to live means a longer stay on earth, that implies more labour for me and not unsuccessful labour; and which I am to choose I cannot tell.But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labor: yet what I shall choose I know not.
Philippians 1:23But I am straitened between two: having a desire to be dissolved and to be with Christ, a thing by far the better.I am in a dilemma, my earnest desire being to depart and be with Christ, for that is far, far better.For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:
Philippians 1:24But to abide still in the flesh, is needful for you.But for your sakes it is more important that I should still remain in the body.Nevertheless, to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.
Philippians 1:25And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide, and continue with you all, for your furtherance and joy of faith:I am convinced of this, and I know that I shall remain, and shall go on working side by side with you all, to promote your progress and joy in the faith;And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith;
Philippians 1:26That your rejoicing may abound in Christ Jesus for me, by my coming to you again.so that, as Christians, you may have additional reason for glorying about me as the result of my being with you again.That your rejoicing for me may be more abundant in Jesus Christ by my coming to you again.
Philippians 1:27Only let your conversation be worthy of the gospel of Christ: that, whether I come and see you, or, being absent, may hear of you, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind labouring together for the faith of the gospel.Only let the lives you live be worthy of the Good News of the Christ, in order that, whether I come and see you or, being absent, only hear of you, I may know that you are standing fast in one spirit and with one mind, fighting shoulder to shoulder for the faith of the Good News.Only let your manner of life be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;
Philippians 1:28And in nothing be ye terrified by the adversaries: which to them is a cause of perdition, but to you of salvation, and this from God:Never for a moment quail before your antagonists. Your fearlessness will be to them a sure token of impending destruction, but to you it will be a sure token of your salvation a token coming from God.And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that from God.
Philippians 1:29For unto you it is given for Christ, not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him.For you have had the privilege granted you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer on His behalf;For to you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;
Philippians 1:30Having the same conflict as that which you have seen in me, and now have heard of me.maintaining, as you do, the same kind of conflict that you once saw in me and which you still hear that I am engaged in.Having the same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear to be in me.
