Exodus 31:1 | And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: | | Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, |
Exodus 31:2 | Behold, I have called by name Beseleel the son of Uri the son of Hur of the tribe of Juda, | | "Behold, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah: |
Exodus 31:3 | And I have filled him with the spirit of God, with wisdom and understanding, and knowledge in all manner of work. | | and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, |
Exodus 31:4 | To devise whatsoever may be artificially made of gold, and silver, and brass, | | to devise skillful works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, |
Exodus 31:5 | Of marble, and precious stones, and variety of wood. | | and in cutting of stones for setting, and in carving of wood, to work in all manner of workmanship. |
Exodus 31:6 | And I have given him for his companion Ooliab the son of Achisamech of the tribe of Dan. And I have put wisdom in the heart of every skilful man, that they may make all things which I have commanded thee, | | I, behold, I have appointed with him Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan; and in the heart of all who are wise-hearted I have put wisdom, that they may make all that I have commanded you: |
Exodus 31:7 | The tabernacle of the covenant, and the ark of the testimony, and the propitiatory that is over it, and all the vessels of the tabernacle, | | the tent of meeting, the ark of the testimony, the mercy seat that is on it, all the furniture of the Tent, |
Exodus 31:8 | And the table and the vessels thereof, the most pure candlestick with the vessels thereof, and the altars of incense, | | the table and its vessels, the pure lampstand with all its vessels, the altar of incense, |
Exodus 31:9 | And of holocaust, and all their vessels, the laver with its foot, | | the altar of burnt offering with all its vessels, the basin and its base, |
Exodus 31:10 | The holy vestments in the ministry for Aaron the priest, and for his sons, that they may execute their office about the sacred things: | | the finely worked garments the holy garments for Aaron the priest the garments of his sons to minister in the priest's office, |
Exodus 31:11 | The oil of unction, and the incense of spices in the sanctuary, all things which I have commanded thee, shall they make. | | the anointing oil, and the incense of sweet spices for the holy place: according to all that I have commanded you they shall do." |
Exodus 31:12 | And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: | | Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, |
Exodus 31:13 | Speak to the children of Israel, and thou shalt say to them: See that thou keep my sabbath: because it is a sign between me and you in your generations: that you may know that I am the Lord, who sanctify you. | | "Speak also to the children of Israel, saying, 'Most assuredly you shall keep my Sabbaths: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that you may know that I am Yahweh who sanctifies you. |
Exodus 31:14 | Keep you my sabbath: for it is holy unto you: he that shall profane it, shall be put to death: he that shall do my work in it, his soul shall perish out of the midst of his people. | | You shall keep the Sabbath therefore; for it is holy to you. Everyone who profanes it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people. |
Exodus 31:15 | Six days shall you do work: in the seventh day is the sabbath, the rest holy to the Lord. Every one that shall do any work on this day, shall die. | | Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, holy to Yahweh. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day shall surely be put to death. |
Exodus 31:16 | Let the children of Israel keep the sabbath, and celebrate it in their generations. It is an everlasting covenant | | Therefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant. |
Exodus 31:17 | Between me and the children of Israel, and a perpetual sign. For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and in the seventh he ceased from work. | | It is a sign between me and the children of Israel forever; for in six days Yahweh made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.'" |
Exodus 31:18 | And the Lord, when he had ended these words in mount Sinai, gave to Moses two stone tables of testimony, written with the finger of God. | | He gave to Moses, when he finished speaking with him on Mount Sinai, the two tablets of the testimony, stone tablets, written with God's finger. |
