John 5:1After these things was a festival day of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. After these things, there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. After these things there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
John 5:2Now there is at Jerusalem a pond, called Probatica, which in Hebrew is named Bethsaida, having five porches. Now in Jerusalem by the sheep gate, there is a pool, which is called in Hebrew, "Bethesda," having five porches. Now there is in Jerusalem by the sheep [gate] a pool, which is called in Hebrew Bethesda, having five porches.
John 5:3In these lay a great multitude of sick, of blind, of lame, of withered; waiting for the moving of the water. In these lay a great multitude of those who were sick, blind, lame, or paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water; In these lay a multitude of them that were sick, blind, halt, withered, [waiting for the moving of the water.]
John 5:4And an angel of the Lord descended at certain times into the pond; and the water was moved. And he that went down first into the pond after the motion of the water, was made whole, of whatsoever infirmity he lay under.for an angel of the Lord went down at certain times into the pool, and stirred up the water. Whoever stepped in first after the stirring of the water was made whole of whatever disease he was afflicted with.[for an angel of the Lord went down at certain seasons into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the waters stepped in was made whole, with whatsoever disease he was holden.]
John 5:5And there was a certain man there, that had been eight and thirty years under his infirmity.A certain man was there, who had been sick for thirty-eight years. And a certain man was there, who had been thirty and eight years in his infirmity.
John 5:6Him when Jesus had seen lying, and knew that he had been now a long time, he saith to him: Wilt thou be made whole? When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he had been sick for a long time, he asked him, "Do you want to be made well?"When Jesus saw him lying, and knew that he had been now a long time [in that case], he saith unto him, Wouldest thou be made whole?
John 5:7The infirm man answered him: Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pond. For whilst I am coming, another goeth down before me.The sick man answered him, "Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, but while I'm coming, another steps down before me."The sick man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.
John 5:8Jesus saith to him: Arise, take up thy bed, and walk.Jesus said to him, "Arise, take up your mat, and walk."Jesus saith unto him, Arise, take up thy bed, and walk.
John 5:9And immediately the man was made whole: and he took up his bed, and walked. And it was the sabbath that day.Immediately, the man was made well, and took up his mat and walked. Now it was the Sabbath on that day.And straightway the man was made whole, and took up his bed and walked. Now it was the sabbath on that day.
John 5:10The Jews therefore said to him that was healed: It is the sabbath; it is not lawful for thee to take up thy bed.So the Jews said to him who was cured, "It is the Sabbath. It is not lawful for you to carry your mat."So the Jews said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath, and it is not lawful for thee to take up thy bed.
John 5:11He answered them: He that made me whole, he said to me, Take up thy bed, and walk.He answered them, "He who made me well, the same said to me, 'Take up your mat, and walk.'"But he answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk.
John 5:12They asked him therefore: Who is that man who said to thee, Take up thy bed, and walk? Then they asked him, "Who is the man who said to you, 'Take up your mat, and walk'?"They asked him, Who is the man that said unto thee, Take up [thy bed], and walk?
John 5:13But he who was healed, knew not who it was; for Jesus went aside from the multitude standing in the place. But he who was healed didn't know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, a crowd being in the place. But he that was healed knew not who it was; for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in the place.
John 5:14Afterwards, Jesus findeth him in the temple, and saith to him: Behold thou art made whole: sin no more, lest some worse thing happen to thee.Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, "Behold, you are made well. Sin no more, so that nothing worse happens to you."Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing befall thee.
John 5:15The man went his way, and told the Jews, that it was Jesus who had made him whole. The man went away, and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well. The man went away, and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him whole.
John 5:16Therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, because he did these things on the sabbath. For this cause the Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought to kill him, because he did these things on the Sabbath. And for this cause the Jews persecuted Jesus, because he did these things on the sabbath.
John 5:17But Jesus answered them: My Father worketh until now; and I work. But Jesus answered them, "My Father is still working, so I am working, too."But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh even until now, and I work.
John 5:18Hereupon therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he did not only break the sabbath, but also said God was his Father, making himself equal to God.For this cause therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only broke the Sabbath, but also called God his own Father, making himself equal with God.For this cause therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only brake the sabbath, but also called God his own Father, making himself equal with God.
John 5:19Then Jesus answered, and said to them: Amen, amen, I say unto you, the Son cannot do any thing of himself, but what he seeth the Father doing: for what things soever he doth, these the Son also doth in like manner.Jesus therefore answered them, "Most assuredly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father doing. For whatever things he does, these the Son also does likewise.Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father doing: for what things soever he doeth, these the Son also doeth in like manner.
John 5:20For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things which himself doth: and greater works than these will he shew him, that you may wonder. For the Father loves the Son, and shows him all things that he himself does. He will show him greater works than these, that you may marvel. For the Father loveth the Son, and showeth him all things that himself doeth: and greater works than these will he show him, that ye may marvel.
John 5:21For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and giveth life: so the Son also giveth life to whom he will. For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son also gives life to whom he desires. For as the Father raiseth the dead and giveth them life, even so the Son also giveth life to whom he will.
John 5:22For neither doth the Father judge any man, but hath given all judgment to the Son.For neither does the Father judge any man, but he has given all judgment to the Son,For neither doth the Father judge any man, but he hath given all judgment unto the Son;
John 5:23That all men may honour the Son, as they honour the Father. He who honoureth not the Son, honoureth not the Father, who hath sent him.that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He who doesn't honor the Son doesn't honor the Father who sent him.that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He that honoreth not the Son honoreth not the Father that sent him.
John 5:24Amen, amen I say unto you, that he who heareth my word, and believeth him that sent me, hath life everlasting; and cometh not into judgment, but is passed from death to life. Most assuredly I tell you, he who hears my word, and believes him who sent me, has eternal life, and doesn't come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth him that sent me, hath eternal life, and cometh not into judgment, but hath passed out of death into life.
John 5:25Amen, amen I say unto you, that the hour cometh, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God, and they that hear shall live. Most assuredly, I tell you, the hour comes, and now is, when the dead will hear the Son of God's voice; and those who hear will live.Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour cometh, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God; and they that hear shall live.
John 5:26For as the Father hath life in himself, so he hath given the Son also to have life in himself:For as the Father has life in himself, even so he gave to the Son also to have life in himself. For as the Father hath life in himself, even so gave he to the Son also to have life in himself:
John 5:27And he hath given him power to do judgment, because he is the Son of man.He also gave him authority to execute judgment, because he is a son of man.and he gave him authority to execute judgment, because he is a son of man.
John 5:28Wonder not at this; for the hour cometh, wherein all that are in the graves shall hear the voice of the Son of God.Don't marvel at this, for the hour comes, in which all that are in the tombs will hear his voice,Marvel not at this: for the hour cometh, in which all that are in the tombs shall hear his voice,
John 5:29And they that have done good things, shall come forth unto the resurrection of life; but they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of judgment.and will come forth; those who have done good, to the resurrection of life; and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of judgment.and shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of judgment.
John 5:30I cannot of myself do any thing. As I hear, so I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not my own will, but the will of him that sent me.I can of myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is righteous; because I don't seek my own will, but the will of my Father who sent me.I can of myself do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is righteous; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
John 5:31If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true."If I testify about myself, my witness is not valid. If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.
John 5:32There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.It is another who testifies about me. I know that the testimony which he testifies about me is true.It is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.
John 5:33You sent to John, and he gave testimony to the truth. You have sent to John, and he has testified to the truth.Ye have sent unto John, and he hath borne witness unto the truth.
John 5:34But I receive not testimony from man: but I say these things, that you may be saved. But the testimony which I receive is not from man. However, I say these things that you may be saved. But the witness which I receive is not from man: howbeit I say these things, that ye may be saved.
John 5:35He was a burning and a shining light: and you were willing for a time to rejoice in his light. He was the lamp that burns and shines, and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light. He was the lamp that burneth and shineth; and ye were willing to rejoice for a season in his light.
John 5:36But I have a greater testimony than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to perfect; the works themselves, which I do, give testimony of me, that the Father hath sent me.But the testimony which I have is greater than that of John, for the works which the Father has given me to accomplish, the very works that I do, testify about me, that the Father has sent me.But the witness which I have is greater than [that of] John; for the works which the Father hath given me to accomplish, the very works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.
John 5:37And the Father himself who hath sent me, hath given testimony of me: neither have you heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape. The Father himself, who sent me, has testified about me. You have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his form. And the Father that sent me, he hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his form.
John 5:38And you have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him you believe not.You don't have his word living in you; for whom he sent, him you don't believe. And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he sent, him ye believe not.
John 5:39Search the scriptures, for you think in them to have life everlasting; and the same are they that give testimony of me.You search the scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and these are they which testify about me.Ye search the scriptures, because ye think that in them ye have eternal life; and these are they which bear witness of me;
John 5:40And you will not come to me that you may have life.Yet you will not come to me, that you may have life.and ye will not come to me, that ye may have life.
John 5:41I receive glory not from men.I don't receive glory from men.I receive not glory from men.
John 5:42But I know you, that you have not the love of God in you.But I know you, that you don't have God's love in yourselves. But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in yourselves.
John 5:43I am come in the name of my Father, and you receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him you will receive.I have come in my Father's name, and you don't receive me. If another comes in his own name, you will receive him.I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.
John 5:44How can you believe, who receive glory one from another: and the glory which is from God alone, you do not seek? How can you believe, who receive glory from one another, and you don't seek the glory that comes from the only God?How can ye believe, who receive glory one of another, and the glory that [cometh] from the only God ye seek not?
John 5:45Think not that I will accuse you to the Father. There is one that accuseth you, Moses, in whom you trust."Don't think that I will accuse you to the Father. There is one who accuses you, even Moses, on whom you have set your hope.Think not that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, [even] Moses, on whom ye have set your hope.
John 5:46For if you did believe Moses, you would perhaps believe me also; for he wrote of me.For if you believed Moses, you would believe me; for he wrote about me.For if ye believed Moses, ye would believe me; for he wrote of me.
John 5:47But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words? But if you don't believe his writings, how will you believe my words?"But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?
