Mark 9:1And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter and James and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves, and was transfigured before them.He said to them, "Most assuredly I tell you, there are some standing here who will in no way taste death, until they see the kingdom of God come with power."And he said to them, Truly I say to you, There are some here who will have no taste of death till they see the kingdom of God come with power.
Mark 9:2And his garments became shining and exceeding white as snow, so as no fuller upon earth can make white. After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John, and brought them up onto a high mountain privately by themselves, and he was changed into another form in front of them. And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James and John, and made them go up with him into a high mountain by themselves: and he was changed in form before them:
Mark 9:3And there appeared to them Elias with Moses; and they were talking with Jesus. His clothing became glistening, exceedingly white, like snow, such as no launderer on earth can whiten them. And his clothing became shining, very white, as no cleaner on earth would make it.
Mark 9:4And Peter answering, said to Jesus: Rabbi, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles, one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.Elijah and Moses appeared to them, and they were talking with Jesus. And there came before them Elijah with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus.
Mark 9:5For he knew not what he said: for they were struck with fear.Peter answered Jesus, "Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let's make three tents: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah."And Peter said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tents; one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.
Mark 9:6And there was a cloud overshadowing them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying: This is my most beloved son; hear ye him.For he didn't know what to say, for they were very afraid.Because he was not certain what to say, for they were in great fear.
Mark 9:7And immediately looking about, they saw no man any more, but Jesus only with them.A cloud came, overshadowing them, and a voice came out of the cloud, "This is my beloved Son. Listen to him."And a cloud came over them; and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my dearly loved Son, give ear to him.
Mark 9:8And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them not to tell any man what things they had seen, till the Son of man shall be risen again from the dead.Suddenly looking around, they saw no one with them any more, except Jesus only. And suddenly looking round about, they saw no one any longer, but Jesus only with themselves.
Mark 9:9And they kept the word to themselves; questioning together what that should mean, when he shall be risen from the dead.As they were coming down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no one what things they had seen, until the Son of Man had risen again from the dead. And while they were coming down from the mountain, he gave them orders not to give word to any man of the things they had seen, till the Son of man had come back from the dead.
Mark 9:10And they asked him, saying: Why then do the Pharisees and scribes say that Elias must come first? They kept the saying, questioning among themselves what the rising again from the dead should mean. And they kept the saying, questioning among themselves what the coming back from the dead might be.
Mark 9:11Who answering, said to them: Elias, when he shall come first, shall restore all things; and as it is written of the Son of man, that he must suffer many things and be despised. They asked him, saying, "Why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?"And they put a question to him, saying, Why do the scribes say that Elijah has to come first?
Mark 9:12But I say to you, that Elias also is come, (and they have done to him whatsoever they would,) as it is written of him.He said to them, "Elijah indeed comes first, and restores all things. How is it written about the Son of Man, that he should suffer many things and be despised? And he said to them, Truly, Elijah does come first, and puts all things in order; and how is it said in the Writings that the Son of man will go through much sorrow and be made as nothing?
Mark 9:13And coming to his disciples, he saw a great multitude about them, and the scribes disputing with them. But I tell you, that Elijah has come, and they have also done to him whatever they wanted to, even as it is written about him."But I say to you that Elijah has come, and they have done to him whatever they were pleased to do, even as the Writings say about him.
Mark 9:14And presently all the people seeing Jesus, were astonished and struck with fear; and running to him, they saluted him.Coming to the disciples, he saw a great multitude around them, and scribes questioning them. And when they came to the disciples, they saw a great mass of people about them, and scribes questioning them.
Mark 9:15And he asked them: What do you question about among you?Immediately all the multitude, when they saw him, were greatly amazed, and running to him greeted him.And straight away all the people, when they saw him, were full of wonder, and running to him, gave him worship.
Mark 9:16And one of the multitude, answering, said: Master, I have brought my son to thee, having a dumb spirit. He asked the scribes, "What are you asking them?"And he said, What are you questioning them about?
Mark 9:17Who, wheresoever he taketh him, dasheth him, and he foameth, and gnasheth with the teeth, and pineth away; and I spoke to thy disciples to cast him out, and they could not.One of the multitude answered, "Teacher, I brought to you my son, who has a mute spirit;And one of the number said to him in answer, Master, I came to you with my son, who has in him a spirit which takes away his power of talking;
Mark 9:18Who answering them, said: O incredulous generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me.and wherever it seizes him, it dashes him down, and he foams at the mouth, and grinds his teeth, and wastes away. I asked your disciples to cast it out, and they weren't able."And wherever it takes him, it puts him down violently, streaming at the lips and twisted with pain; and his strength goes from him; and I made a request to your disciples to send it out, and they were not able.
Mark 9:19And they brought him. And when he had seen him, immediately the spirit troubled him; and being thrown down upon the ground, he rolled about foaming. He answered them, "Unbelieving generation, how long will I be with you? How long will I bear with you? Bring him to me."And he said to them in answer, O generation without faith, how long will I have to be with you? how long will I put up with you? let him come to me.
Mark 9:20And he asked his father: How long time is it since this hath happened unto him? But he said: From his infancy:They brought him to him, and when he saw him, immediately the spirit convulsed him, and he fell on the ground, wallowing and foaming at the mouth. And they took him to him: and when he saw him, the spirit in him straight away became violent; and he went down on the earth, rolling about and streaming at the lips.
Mark 9:21And oftentimes hath he cast him into the fire and into waters to destroy him. But if thou canst do any thing, help us, having compassion on us.He asked his father, "How long has it been since this has come to him?" He said, "From childhood. And Jesus questioning the father said, How long has he been like this? And he said, From a child.
Mark 9:22And Jesus saith to him: If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.Often it has cast him both into the fire and into the water, to destroy him. But if you can do anything, have compassion on us, and help us."And frequently it has sent him into the fire and into the water, for his destruction; but if you are able to do anything, have pity on us, and give us help.
Mark 9:23And immediately the father of the boy crying out, with tears said: I do believe, Lord: help my unbelief.Jesus said to him, "If you can believe? All things are possible to him who believes."And Jesus said to him, If you are able! All things are possible to him who has faith.
Mark 9:24And when Jesus saw the multitude running together, he threatened the unclean spirit, saying to him: Deaf and dumb spirit, I command thee, go out of him; and enter not any more into him.Immediately the father of the child cried out with tears, "I believe. Help my unbelief!"Straight away the father of the child gave a cry, saying, I have faith; make my feeble faith stronger.
Mark 9:25And crying out, and greatly tearing him, he went out of him, and he became as dead, so that many said: He is dead. When Jesus saw that a multitude came running together, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to him, "You mute and deaf spirit, I command you, come out of him, and enter no more into him!"And when Jesus saw that the people came running together, he gave orders to the unclean spirit, saying to him, You, spirit, who are the cause of his loss of voice and hearing, I say to you, come out of him, and never again go into him.
Mark 9:26But Jesus taking him by the hand, lifted him up; and he arose.Having cried out, and convulsed him greatly, it came out. The boy became like one dead; so much that most of them said, "He is dead."And after crying out and shaking him violently, it came out: and the child became like one dead; so that most of them said, He is dead.
Mark 9:27And when he was come into the house, his disciples secretly asked him: Why could not we cast him out?But Jesus took him by the hand, and raised him up; and he arose. But Jesus took him by the hand, lifting him up; and he got up.
Mark 9:28And he said to them: This kind can go out by nothing, but by prayer and fasting. When he had come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, "Why couldn't we cast it out?"And when he had gone into the house, his disciples said to him privately, Why were we unable to send it out?
Mark 9:29And departing from thence, they passed through Galilee, and he would not that any man should know it.He said to them, "This kind can come out by nothing, except by prayer and fasting."And he said to them, Nothing will make this sort come out but prayer.
Mark 9:30And he taught his disciple, and said to them: The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise again the third day.They went forth from there, and passed through Galilee. He didn't want anyone to know it.And they went out from there, through Galilee; and it was his desire that no man might have knowledge of it;
Mark 9:31But they understood not the word, and they were afraid to ask him.For he taught his disciples, and said to them, "The Son of Man is delivered up into the hands of men, and they will kill him; and when he is killed, on the third day he will rise again."For he was giving his disciples teaching, and saying to them, The Son of man is given up into the hands of men, and they will put him to death; and when he is dead, after three days he will come back from the dead.
Mark 9:32And they came to Capharnaum. And when they were in the house, he asked them: What did you treat of in the way?But they didn't understand the saying, and were afraid to ask him.But the saying was not clear to them, and they were in fear of questioning him about it.
Mark 9:33But they held their peace, for in the way they had disputed among themselves, which of them should be the greatest. He came to Capernaum, and when he was in the house he asked them, "What were you arguing among yourselves on the way?"And they came to Capernaum: and when he was in the house, he put the question to them, What were you talking about on the way?
Mark 9:34And sitting down, he called the twelve, and saith to them: If any man desire to be first, he shall be the last of all, and the minister of all.But they were silent, for they had disputed one with another on the way about who was the greatest. But they said nothing: because they had had an argument between themselves on the way, about who was the greatest.
Mark 9:35And taking a child, he set him in the midst of them. Whom when he had embraced, he saith to them:He sat down, and called the twelve; and he said to them, "If any man wants to be first, he will be last of all, and servant of all."And seating himself, he made the twelve come to him; and he said to them, If any man has the desire to be first, he will be last of all and servant of all.
Mark 9:36Whosoever shall receive one such child as this in my name, receiveth me. And whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.He took a little child, and set him in the midst of them. Taking him in his arms, he said to them,And he took a little child, and put him in the middle of them; and taking him in his arms, he said to them,
Mark 9:37John answered him, saying: Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, who followeth not us, and we forbade him."Whoever receives one such little child in my name, receives me, and whoever receives me, doesn't receive me, but him who sent me."Whoever will give honour to one such little child in my name, gives honour to me: and whoever gives honour to me, gives honour not to me, but to him who sent me.
Mark 9:38But Jesus said: Do not forbid him. For there is no man that doth a miracle in my name, and can soon speak ill of me.John said to him, "Teacher, we saw someone who doesn't follow us casting out demons in your name; and we forbade him, because he doesn't follow us."John said to him, Master, we saw one driving out evil spirits in your name: and we said that he might not, because he is not one of us.
Mark 9:39For he that is not against you, is for you.But Jesus said, "Don't forbid him, for there is no one who will do a mighty work in my name, and be able quickly to speak evil of me.But Jesus said, Say not so: for there is no man who will do a great work in my name, and be able at the same time to say evil of me.
Mark 9:40For whosoever shall give you to drink a cup of water in my name, because you belong to Christ: amen I say to you, he shall not lose his reward. For whoever is not against us is on our side.He who is not against us is for us.
Mark 9:41And whosoever shall scandalize one of these little ones that believe in me; it were better for him that a millstone were hanged around his neck, and he were cast into the sea.For whoever will give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because you are Christ's, most assuredly I tell you, he will in no way lose his reward.Whoever gives you a cup of water, because you are Christ's, truly I say to you, he will in no way be without his reward.
Mark 9:42And if thy hand scandalize thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life, maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into unquenchable fire:Whoever will cause one of these little ones who believe in me to stumble, it would be better for him if a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.And whoever is a cause of trouble to one of these little ones who have faith in me, it would be better for him if a great stone was put round his neck and he was dropped into the sea.
Mark 9:43Where there worm dieth not, and the fire is not extinguished. If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having your two hands to go into Gehenna, into the unquenchable fire,And if your hand is a cause of trouble to you, let it be cut off; it is better for you to go into life with one hand than to have two hands and go into hell, into the eternal fire.
Mark 9:44And if thy foot scandalize thee, cut it off. It is better for thee to enter lame into life everlasting, than having two feet, to be cast into the hell of unquenchable fire:'where their worm doesn't die, and the fire is not quenched.'[]
Mark 9:45Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not extinguished. If your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life lame, rather than having your two feet to be cast into Gehenna, into the fire that will never be quenchedAnd if your foot is a cause of trouble to you, let it be cut off: it is better for you to go into life with one foot than to have two feet and go into hell.
Mark 9:46And if thy eye scandalize thee, pluck it out. It is better for thee with one eye to enter into the kingdom of God, than having two eyes to be cast into the hell of fire:'where their worm doesn't die, and the fire is not quenched.'[]
Mark 9:47Where the worm dieth not, and the fire is not extinguished. If your eye causes you to stumble, cast it out. It is better for you to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into the Gehenna of fire,And if your eye is a cause of trouble to you, take it out: it is better for you to go into the kingdom of God with one eye than, having two eyes, to go into hell,
Mark 9:48For every one shall be salted with fire: and every victim shall be salted with salt.'where their worm doesn't die, and the fire is not quenched.'Where their worm is ever living and the fire is not put out.
Mark 9:49Salt is good. But if the salt became unsavory; wherewith will you season it? Have salt in you, and have peace among you.For everyone will be salted with fire, and every sacrifice will be seasoned with salt.Everyone will be salted with fire.
